Meet Mr Malt, Mars’ Morally Dubious Dad! This is a still from a short (and kinda ooc) animation I’m working on with him and Mars. Although he can have quite the ‘sticky fingers’ (from working in the Malt shoppe or from working your wallet) He genuinely does love his boy.
Here’s Abra Cadabra in his pajamas after a nice nap. This is also what the cadets look like under their usual clothes— it wasn’t meant to be seen, so it’s just uncolored plastic!
Redesigned Starlet’s iconic hairdo (or is it restore? She originally had the ponytail but my art style wasn’t developed enough to draw it consistently)!!
Since I've asked you about the Cosmic Cadets, do you mind talking about the characters you created for your story?
Oh!!! Yippee!!!!
Well— I don’t want this to become a whole giant novel of a post, so just for now, I’ll talk mainly about the Funtastic Five (and also their Malicious rival)
As a whole, the cosmic cadets are based on young children— their general (mental) ages ranging from around 11 to 19 at the oldest. There are two “parent” characters, also, but I don’t really have an age range for them yet hehe
Cosmo Calliope is the main character and lead singer— and also my profile picture! He’s the sort of Chuck E Cheese of the group. (I even gave him a slight jersey accent) He’s the youngest out of everyone, and because of that, he can be quite naive and has a short temper. He loves throwing parties and finds almost any excuse- ahem, legitimate reason- to celebrate. He’s quite accepting of most anyone, despite their background or possible strangeness, because he grew up in the circus with his brothers. He also enjoys a good round of laser tag against Mallie.
Starlet A. Roma is the backup singer, and fills in the classic animatronic role of “the one girl in the band.” She’s a space siren from the planet Venus and loves sharing her voice and love with others. Instead of focusing on romantic love, Starlet’s focus is on self-love. She adores working in her boutique and helping others feel pretty and/or handsome. She’s sweet and doesn’t mind throwing back a few wisecracks from Mars. However, being a siren, she enjoys lots of shiny objects and can be a bit greedy with them.
PJ Rise-n-Shine is the keyboard player of the group. He’s quite a bit quiet and more reserved than the others, but when he’s doing something he loves, his personality shines through. He loves expressing himself through art in his art studio and reading his collection of fairytales to the toddlers in the kiddie zone. He’s a sandman from the moon, but hasn’t quite worked up the courage to tell his friends. His nasty trait is that he’ll often omit the truth or lie in order to appease others. Because he’s used to being awake all night and sleeping all day, he’s quite sleepy during parties and performances, often opting to take an impromptu nap on his keyboard.
Mars Puffington is the guitarist— and he can look quite intimidating to new fans. However, under all that machinery beats a (metaphorical) heart of gold. He’s incredibly strong and handy and loves helping others out of a pickle. When not playing guitar or playing with his friends, you can find him doing roller derby at the Rock and Roller rink with Chester. Although he loves helping others, Mars struggles with asking for help himself, believing that he could (and should) be able to handle it. He has his Appa’s deadpan and spook factor and his Papa’s sass, leading to a lot of fun banter with Starlet.
Ryan Pride is the drummer of the group. He’s quite the foodie, often being seen in the food advertisements around the building. Ryan is also the comic relief, often forgetting to look before he leaps and jumping quickly to conclusions without thinking them through. He’s smiley and hardly ever lets anything get under his skin— and if you knock him down, he’ll get right back up again! He marches to the beat of his own drum and loves trying new things, even if he isn’t good at them at first, like bowling in his branded Bowling Alley! He thinks he isn’t all that smart, but he’s quite intelligent; it just takes him a while to connect the dots with new information.
Last (but certainly not least) is Mallie Kazam— the dastardly villain of the cosmic cadets, and Cosmo’s twin brother that’s older by five minutes. Mallie is incredibly intelligent, and when the cadets aren’t off solving problems in Cakewalk County, he plots evil schemes in his lab to trip them up or stop them from performing. Despite his prickly personality, villainy is a fun game for Mallie, and that’s how he plays with others. Every game needs a bad guy— and Mallie is incredibly happy to fill the role. When not attempting to overthrow Cosmo or pranking others, Mallie is experimenting and trying new plots and schemes with his stuffed bunny henchman, Mr Cottontail.
I found your work of fiction quite interesting, but their is a lack of lore about them, do you mind if you inform me about who the cosmic cadets are and what do they do?
If you haven't thought up some lore, that's okay, just explain the general concept about your work of fiction.
Hello!!! The cosmic cadets are a robot band similar to Munch’s Make Believe Band, like chuck e cheese. However, one day the building was struck by lightning, and the robots came to life! The idea I have for them is a lot like the care bears, where they go into their small town (called Cakewalk County) and help the townspeople with different problems and learn lessons about life along the way!
