Trying to shop fragrances for my friends bday and she only likes vanilla scents… idk if she likes strictly sweet/gourmand or smth more woodsy, so maybe a few recs for each category?
vanillary by lush
a classic creamy vanilla, it's classy and a wonderful vanilla
aqua allegoria forte bosca vanilla by guerlain
this one im recommending as a summer scent! it smells like you're enjoying a fizzy citrus drink in the summertime with vanilla perfume on
thé vanille by nette
this one is a bit different, it's a little salty but it dries down into a gentle floral vanilla
harvest mouse by zoologist
better for fall admittedly, but harvest mouse is a wonderful scent. you can smell the vanilla, and it really adds to the comfy scent from the hay and beer notes. it's a unique vanilla fragrance!
alkemia has a lot of vanilla fragrances to choose from here, so i'd recommend taking a look and seeing what might appeal!
similarly, nocturne alchemy has a whole list of different kinds here! both houses have amazing options that will appeal to gourmet, floral, or more woody options
sorry, i would recommend specific ones from both houses but there are so many and i think taking a look might help better than i could! :-)
i know this is way past your friend's birthday and I'm really sorry about that, i hope these can spark some ideas for the future or you can always just send these to her for her own personal use!

Thoughts on pineward perfume? I really hope i can get my hands on hayloft shire and ponderosa soon :3
i really like what i've gotten my hands on so far! right now im hoping to get more samples from them, especially boreal...overall a really good house that really appeals if you're like me and really enjoy nature based scents
Fragrances for when u wanna smell like a wolf in the forest or running in the open plains?
wolf by wolf brothers!
a spicy, smoky green fragrance that makes me think of a wild wolf following its prey through a dense green forest
well dressed werewolf by D.S. & durge
ambery, animalic, and fresh green. a wolf that is enjoying the freedom of its territory on a spring day
nature of the beast by alkemia
with its musk, vetiver, and patchouli, this fragrance makes me think of a wolf running through open plains, its fur still clinging onto the scent of its forest home
encre noire by lalique
pure cypress and vetiver, which are the notes i heavily associate with wolves. it's got a musky base that really compliments the earthy smell
thank you so much for the ask, im sorry for my very late answer!
i got really caught up with my personal life and my energy caught up with me, so i was unable to answer my asks and then i felt embarrassed by how long it was taking and it just snowballed into my absence
i feel really guilty about that, i love this little blog and i love getting requests but i let things pile up too much and didn't handle it properly. i would really like to try again, though...i can't promise i'll start chowing through my asks tonight, but i will try my best to get some done tomorrow!
i'm very sorry to everyone who has sent me asks, honestly they were truly exciting and i didn't mean to leave everyone hanging
i've tried a sample of hummingbird from zoologist!
it starts off a little too synthetic fruity for my liking, but it dries down into a really nice fruity floral soapy scent. i saw someone compare it to the smell of getting a car wash, and i definitely agree with that description! it's not something i would probably wear much personally, but it's pretty inoffensive for a zoologist fragrance.
i think people would definitely give you compliments for wearing this lol it's also very fitting for a hummingbird too! i get a lot of honeysuckle as well, which i actually really enjoy. it is kind of overpowering though overall
Going off of a user’s previous ask… i use salt and stones newest deodorant lily and yuzu, and i was wondering if there were any fragrances similar? Or any good perfumes with a lily base you like?
lys 41 from le labo for a decent lily based white floral
gold leaves from regime des fleurs is still a lily fragrance, but has a sort of deep spicy green scent as well that i personally enjoy
death & decay from lush is just a good powdery lily
and lastly, lys mediterranee is a really good fresh aquatic white floral fragrance!
sadly i don't know any lily and yuzu fragrances, but i hope these help!
would you have any particular recommendations for magnolia as a note? i discovered a scent from like, a local fair (best way to describe it) that didn’t Quite hit the mark for me bc it was with pistachio and the nuttiness smelled a little odd on my skin, but that’s the most luck i’ve had with a floral so i was curious about pursuing it more. if it helps at all; i tend to like creamy and citrusy notes too. no worries if nothing springs to mind tho!! <333
i'll be honest, i haven't encountered too many fragrances with magnolia! however, here's the best ones i can think of. hopefully one of these works for you!!
hope this isn't too weird of a request, but i've been using old spice's orchard deodorant lately and i've been wondering if there are any perfumes that would pair well with it? it's a fresh, clean, and slightly sweet scent that i really like and i'd love to know if there's anything similar!
oh, not weird at all! i personally always pick the old spice's timber deodorant because it goes so well with most of my own fragrances :)
i tried really hard to seek out the orchard deodorant in my area, but the store near me didn't have it (and they're all locked up & i hate sniffing a bunch of deodorant in front of the worker with the keys...), so i haven't been able to smell it. i hope my recommendations still help even though i haven't actually tried the orchard scented one
how to say bicycle in french is a wonderful clean fragrance. it's a little sweet, a little floral and a little spicy. overall it's an interesting soapy blend.
cow from zoologist might really compliment the orchard deodorant! it's a really smooth creamy apple, but there's also fresh floral and a hint of milk. i think you'd really like this one just from what i'd assume the orchard deodorant smells like
heartless from poesie is an interesting one! really clean, fresh and floral
if you want a really clean soapy fragrance, dead of night from lovesick wichery might be up your alley!
in a railway carriage from alkemia perfumes is a cozy, fresh floral with some tantalizing bergamot and amber
alkemia perfumes also has a more apple-y fragrance if you'd like to try cidre d' automne
i hope these can help you get started! im sorry i wasn't able to actually try the orchard one before but i hope you enjoy one of these :)
i'm really sorry for everyone waiting for my answers on asks! i'm working on them now and will hopefully have them done by tonight...i am a little sick, so please bear with me :)
Trying my hand at fragrance layering- anything that pairs well with Jo Malone’s myrrh & tonka? Or if u havent tried it is there anything that goes well with the notes myrrh or tonka?
oohh interesting! i have smelled the myrrh & tonka from jo malone before, but it has definitely been a while
if i had to pick something to layer with it though, i think that i would go with one of two choices: either a creamy vanilla fragrance, or maybe one more spicy and resinous. it depends on whether or not you'd like to smell more myrrh or creamy tonka
here's some that i would probably use :-)
pyramid vanille from nocturne alchemy for a vanilla with a resinous undertone
op sekhmet (also from nocturne alchemy) would be add a good boost of myrrh and woody notes if you'd like to move away from the sweetness of the tonka
master bedroom from solstice scents adds more musk and myrrh with some spicy patchouli
maybe this one would be odd, but i also could see myself putting either tiger or camel on as a layer
i was also going to recommend taking a look at black phoenix alchemy lab, but their website is currently down for maintenance :( and so was pulp fragrance's!!! what a bummer. i would absolutely encourage you to take a look on those, especially BPAL
so, you want to try some fragrances, but the big houses are pretty expensive
…here's some indie companies worth a try! they will generally be more affordable, and they also offer some unique fragrances that bigger houses might not have tried yet. remember to consider getting a sample of anything before blind buying a larger bottle!
deep midnight perfumes - incredible selection of perfume oils with a specific focus of folktales, high fantasy, goth/vampire vibes and retro inspiration, but there are plenty of options and themed sets as well
pulp fragrance - i love the general whimsigoth retro book cover aesthetic of theirs, but pulp fragrance also delivers on unique fragrances and realistic nature scents. their scent index is sure to have something you're looking for! fragrances come in roll-on and wand cap samples. amazing longevity from my experience as well
mad labs studios - very fun and well-made fandom inspired fragrances! right now they have fallout, baldur's gate 3, the last of us, resident evil, and much more. i was gifted the astarion fragrance and it genuinely smells so good. they also have wax melts!
alkemia perfumes - established in 2009 and still kicking, alkemia has an insane amount of unique options to try from for very reasonable prices. they're a very reputable indie company. their perfume list is crazy long and full of great options
groovygalaxy - a fragrance etsy shop with cryptid creature inspiration. i've gotten a sample for mothman mall specifically and enjoyed it more than i thought i would!
andromeda's curse - a really good indie shop with very nice custom sample packs. honestly really good projection of their notes, they know how to really balance a fragrance and let each note have their time to shine
lovesick witchery - i like a lot of these, babydoll head really threw me for a loop and i enjoy the more 'out there' artistic ones, but there's a lot to choose from and they're all pretty solid! their longevity isn't perfect but they're fairly inexpensive and worth it in my opinion
poesie perfume - there are some really unique fragrances in here. green girl, forest cat, library ghost, and marlowe really caught my eye and i really enjoy what they make!
here's a whole spreadsheet with way more indie houses to take a look at. i have not tried all of these, but this is an amazing resource to support smaller businesses and try fragrances you wouldn't be able to find elsewhere
hiya! i have a request for you. im about to finish off my sample bottle of thin wild mercury's laurel canyon 1966 and it has become maybe my favorite perfume ive ever smelled. the stinky, woody, spicy, dusty patchouli/cannabis notes are SOOOO delicious on me omg. do you have any recommendations for similar stuff i might like? :-)
OHHH yesss such a wonderful fragrance
might i recommend:
the last two might be a tad different in comparison, but untamable is perfect for a stinky dusty spicy fragrance, and camel is a more approachable myrrh mixed with dusty animal musk!
hi i'm a fellow perfume enthusiast here i dont have the energy and time to make a blog about it (i am too busy play fighting with other perfume enthusiasts in discords and telegram groups) but i wanna say your vibe rules and it makes me happy seeing other people being into fragrance bc its a cool and awesome hobby!!
what are your top 5 favorite indie/small niche houses and what are your top 5 fragrances as of rn?
if you had to choose one frag for The Rest Of Time to wear what would it be?
what's your last favorite frag? house? why?
hellooo!! im so glad i found my way into the fraghead community, it's such a fun hobby for me and i love seeing other people's opinions on things (even if i disagree sometimes LOL)
thank you so much <3 i'll put my answers under a read-more since i'm talking a Lot
>top 5 indie/small houses
black phoenix alchemy lab, nocturne alchemy, pulp fragrance, alkemia perfumes, and fantome in no particular order!
>top 5 current fragrances
this is (so far) my #1 favorite fragrance. i grew up in the pacific northwest, and it smells so close to the bright green forests cloaked in foggy sea mist. i also really love cape heartache by the same house, but ESAS has just a slight edge over it! it's just a very "me" scent if you saw me irl
unfortunately for my fiance who personally is not much of a fan of it, tiger is my favorite zoologist fragrance. the ebony and vetiver notes add such a rich depth to it, i fell in love with it immediately
truly a classic and my first introduction to fragrances. it's just so smooth and comforting. pretty crowd pleasing and popular - but for good reason, in my opinion! i just don't like wearing it when it's too warm outside, but it's perfect for colder seasons
is it generic? yeah, probably. but it's one of my favorites all the same. it's such a lovely fresh green scent with a little spice.
i've only just got to own and smell mr. coyote since this christmas, but it's definitely automatically joined my list of top favorites. such a good blend of playful frankincense, rose, citrus, and amber - AND it's got coyote in the name B-) a shame that it's a limited edition....
honorary mention:
>if you had to choose one frag for The Rest Of Time to wear what would it be?
this would honestly be a hard decision, but i think i would have to go with every storm a serenade. it works for nearly any setting, works great in cold or warm weather, suits me very well, and is fairly approachable.........
....that and it's my favorite fragrance ever
>what's your most favorite frag? house? why?
HMMM....i think i would have to say zoologist.
although i can most definitely say that some of their fragrances are Not for me at all, every single one that i've encountered has worked very well for what they were trying to accomplish
i really appreciate the artistry that goes into making these without much worry over whether or not their fragrances smell like more crowd pleasing perfumes. all of them project very well and last for hours, and most of them seriously transform throughout the hours you're wearing which always impresses me!
this might be a slightly biased answer since i'm also a big fan of animals, and the zoologist fragrances are animal themed. but everything they make interests me - even if i would never want them on me
although i've been into fragrances for a couple of years now, i always feel like i have so much more to learn and so many other houses to try. i'm looking forward to trying more this year!
i just realized i forgot to answer with my least favorite fragrance 🤔 so far i guess it would be bat from zoologist or untameable from imaginary authors... they're both very stinky without anything redeemable for me
