Protect My Household: The Office, Part I
We’ve done our best to not buy more things than are necessary and to process as many things as possible. Here’s what it looked like before the weekend started.
Really, we haven’t lived in the house for long, but organizing has been so hard. I do a little bit every weekend and I get rid of everything that I can, but combining households with bf plus a ton of overflow that my parents brought here from my teenaged depression room has meant that we are bloated. And unorganized.
So in the great flood, horrible things ended up happening. We are still staring down this hydra. So many of these books were so expensive. I loathe to give them up without a fight and we got rid of the worst books in terms of the mold, but wow. So much to process. Yes, it’s still here. It greets me every morning. It reminds me of my shame.
Ah, and here you can see the corner of the office as it formerly was! I spent a long time organizing the rainbow drawers with most office/art supplies about a week or two ago. We repurposed s 6-cube organizer as a temporary office/art storage space, but it’s been mostly just stuff thrown in and around it.
We have opted to move it here for now. The blue cube has misc art supplies and markers in it, but the other two are empty. It waits, likely hoping to organize overflow or seasonal decor.
Ah, the books I set aside for the office. And a kinda messy entertainment center, sigh.
Those books were removed from Bookcase A. Its shelf died in the middle of the organization project and it is waiting until we can repair it.
Ugh behold the horrible mess continues. I guess it’s worth pointing out that there’s a box of truly miscellaneous stuff that’s just like.... ughhhh.
Books to be processed from the garage pile. Sigh.
Annnnd... Bookcase B. We added this guy where the cube organizer was. The bookcase has been vaguely organized. I’m trying to re-read old favorites that are not super sentimental editions and get them out and lots of those books are here. It’s maybe not especially aesthetic. To be honest everything is here because it is most functional: that is where the pens would want to be relative to the desk, the philosophy is close to the philosophy, we’re not currently using the oil diffuser and I don’t know how I want to orient the wire. I think I would have preferred to alternate the stuff on the ends in a different way, but this is how it’s working the best for us right now.
So, so many wires to organize under the desk. You can also maybe see that we have barely started to load the bottom shelves. We are trying to reserve those spaces for things that we need to store but not use super often.
So many wires. Sigh. But hey, the computer’s little platform is kinda cute and it gives us easier access to those bottom two shelves. I would have preferred to have loaded the bottom a bit better, right now there’s just old documents and etc down there. Second shelf is empty, and the third is mostly empty too.
