Saw a few things on Youtube awhile back where folks were putting together fanmade subunits for the various idol groups, and decided I wanted in on the fun. And used it as a reason to actually try my hand at some actual card editing by starting with the NijiGaku girls. Since these are way more time-intensive and have a little more thought in 'em than my usual "slap some transparencies on a blended or gradient background and call it a day" images/edits, it's a lot slower going. But it's a nice little creative project and good practice for actually learning image editing software.
So yeah. Starting with Nijigasaki. Going to be doing them as 4 trios, one at a time. So here's my first fanmade subunit under the break.
PRiSM ~ "A beautiful glass refracting all our colors!"
Trio unit made up of Kasumi, Lanzhu, and Karin
Kasumi is the unit leader/center
Would be considered the "Cool" subunit
Image color is a red-violet/raspberry color
"PRiSM" obviously can reference just about any 3D non-circular shape, but in most cases brings to mind those glass triangular prisms used to demonstrate the visible light/color spectrum. This is what the name references, chosen because of the idea of three separate pieces coming together to create something even more beautiful and stunning than can be achieved alone.
Overall image is supposed to come off as very stylish/fashionable, but not OVERLY mature/"grown up". Think kind of like old-school Bratz and Monster High.
Also just RADIATES confidence; we've got 3 very strong personalities here.
Musically, I could see their songs really taking advantage of the overall range of voices and potential harmonies, genre-wise leaning towards a lot of EDM and dance pop, but could see them also experimenting with jazz and more chill genres on occasion.
In terms of dynamics, I feel like these three are all competitive enough to really push each other forward... But also feel like Kasumi and Lanzhu would absolutely end up going overboard and have to be reined in by Karin; not that she herself isn't competitive, but of the three she's definitely the most levelheaded and conscious of limits and common sense.
This is probably made worse by the fact that I've never actually been taught how to use image editing software and am just kinda figuring things out by the seat of my pants
