People who think 5sos aren’t “real pop punk” or whatever and just hate on them must hate the fact that almost every single band that they love have praised 5sos. The only band I can think of that hasn’t worked with them or said anything specifically of how good they are is Green Day and even Mike Dirnt said how Cal learned from his jump or whatever. Like they’re friends with ATL, Good Charlotte, frontman of Goldfinger John Feldmann, etc. They’ve also had Twitter convos with Mark Hoppus who is basically the king of pop punk (and he called them pop punk so u know if he said they are then they are). They’ve worked with Deryck from Sum 41, Brendon from Panic!, and Fall Out Boy have expressed interest in working with them. Gerard Way has praised them highly and the Madden Bros say that they inspire them to maybe make another Good Charlotte album. Sure they haven’t really gotten any talk from modern pop punk like The Wonder Years or like The Story So Far (that I know of) but they did take State Champs on tour who have said that they are a real band. Like all your idols have accepted them, why can’t you? I don’t even know what’s stopping people from liking them anyway. Like their new songs have louder guitars and aren’t all about girls. Like wtf…

I’m sick of seeing “5sos are only in it for money and fame” bullshit

- first off if they were in it for the money don’t you think they’d own more than five shirts

- they haven’t really made any big purchases

- look how their eyes light up when they’re with fans

- they’re so passionate on stage

- they remind us, quite frequently, how much they appreciate us

- they literally spend hours a day on us between meet and greets, interviews, performing, tweeting, and posting pictures on instagram

- saying “we don’t know the real them bc we’ve only seen them in videos or with fans” is like saying you don’t really know your mom because you’ve only seen her as your mother

- although they have changed since their career first took off, everyone changes as they grow up and they’re much more busy now

- think of all the things they have to put up with daily (anywhere from rumors to rude fans to never being home) but they brush it off just for us

- the next album is about telling kids it’s okay to not fit in

- the only reason we don’t have more new music is because they want it to be perfect for us

- don’t think for a damn minute they don’t appreciate us
