Journal: Why I Started Hating Social Media and Blogging
You get to see what everybody does. And how happy they are. And how much better their lives are compared to ours.
The line you read above is from Darwin Watterson of the cartoon series, The Amazing World of Gumball. The moment I heard that line, I actually found myself nodding to it. Like many of you, I spend more than half of my day or more than enough time just scrolling endlessly through different social media applications. And I don't even know why. When I started questioning myself why did I spend so much time scrolling aimlessly at my social media applications, I came up with various answers and all of them seemed pointless to me.
I told myself that this is what everyone does and it is needed for me to be able to keep up with the trends which do I really need to keep up with? I also told myself that this is one way for me to be updated on everyone's life which begs the question do I really need to be updated with their lives.
I keep searching and searching for answers until I started seeing answers that I don't want to immerse myself into such as it is my way to compare my life with others. A way for me to pity myself more and tell myself, 'Oh, look! They have their lives together. They get what they want and while you? Nothing, you sit there and just wish for luck to strike you even just once.'
And that's when I started hating myself more, my life more, the situation I am currently having. I started hating what I have and what I don't have and I suddenly felt like I am living my life wrong because all these people have this kind of life while me, I felt like my life is so useless and boring. Then, envy consumed my heart as I started asking more and more questions about why I can't have their lives and why is my life like this.
Without noticing it, I fell into the dark pit of self-pity and loathing. And there was no way out for me.
It has been a long time since I updated this blog of mine and I have a good reason why. Or at least, I think it's a good reason. I wouldn't explain it on this blog post but hopefully, in the upcoming days, I would find the courage and the will to post a blog up explaining why I suddenly went on an indefinite hiatus.
Anyhoo, so early this May me and my family (Dan's family) went on our first outside of the country trip and it's in the beautiful city of Hong Kong. I'll be honest here, I have always wanted to go out of the country but never in my wildest dream that I would really be able to do that but I did and I can't thank Dan and his mom enough for giving me a wonderful experience.
Hong Kong is just amazing you guys and I cannot even stress it enough on how amazing it is. I would definitely put a blog up one of these days telling you all about our wonderful experiences and some mishaps that we bumped into along the way. But for now, this blog post will focus on what I wore on our first day in Hong Kong where we decided to take a stroll at the Garden of Stars and Mongkok.
The Movie that Everyone Can't Seem to Stop Talking About
The internet is talking about it, everyone is talking about it, it dominates your social media, everyone is just going crazy over the latest Marvel Film released which is Avengers: Infinity War. But why would people not talk about it? Just looking at how this movie is just star-studded, the whopping $300-$400 million production and those stunning effects plus how many fans have waited not just 1, not just 2 but 10 freaking years to watch it! I can't see why people wouldn't talk about this movie.
But let's face it. Not everyone who watched and is talking about the film is not a Marvel fan. Some just wanted to watch the film and see what's all this craze is all about. I wouldn't say I am one of those because honestly, I've watched most of the MCU films with the exemption of Thor, Thor Ragnarok, Captain America Winter Soldier and Captain America Civil War. However, I wouldn't really say that I am a fan because I am not but if you will ask me who's my favorite MCU Hero I'd say without blinking my eyes that it's Iron Man. I don't know, I love flawed characters and heroes that have PTSD. I noticed that because I love Katniss from Hunger Games but that's not what we are going to talk about.
So, here's my review of the biggest Marvel movie of this year as a casual viewer but before that, a little disclaimer I am by no means a professional movie critic and though I study film through my degree program which is Multimedia Arts, I still so inexperienced.
And also, this is not sponsored plus there may be spoilers here and there. YOU ARE WARNED!
You wouldn’t believe how much backlog I have. And I am not even kidding! I guess you will be showered with blog posts every now and then, ‘till I finish them all. And yey, finally I was able to post this article after the longest time since I got my hands on the new Ever Bilena Matte Liquid Lipsticks last Christmas.
Now you have an idea of how long this post has been in backlog. Let’s forget about that and proceed with this review since it has been quite long since I reviewed a beauty product.
Ever since the matte liquid lipsticks came out, the craze never died and up until now, cosmetics company kept coming up with new shade with a better formula. Some even innovate it and take it to the next level. And of course, our local brands here didn’t let themselves to get left behind by this phenomenon.
As the world of beauty keeps evolving so does every brand. I have witnessed the growth and changed some of our local brands went through and I can’t help but be impressed. One of the brands I am referring to is Ever Bilena.
You might know Ever Bilena as a cosmetic that is seemingly always present in every convenient and pharmacy store. But, my love, this brand went through the glow up that it definitely deserved. Now, this is one of the local leading cosmetic brands that offer quality affordable makeup.
Ever Bilena has been one of my lifesavers especially, I can’t really afford other cosmetic brands. So, when I heard that they will be having their own Matte Liquid Lipstick I freaked out telling myself that I need to try those lippies! I need them in my life!
I am seriously in love with vintage looking shirts. And what do I mean by vintage looking shirts? I meant thrifted shirts that are worn out and has huge product logo or famous tv or movies printed on it. And because it is so worn out, the print literally holds millions of cracks.
Since I have been seeing them on Pinterest (my go-to fashion reference) I have always wanted one and I was so lucky to find one. The moment my eyes landed on this very shirt I didn't think twice, I know to myself that there's no way I am walking out without this.
You probably don't know and I am not sure if I have mentioned this before but I am clinically diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder and Bipolar Disorder. This is the first time that I am really going deep on this topic, I think I haven't touched this part of my life that much and so, I don't know where to start. So, I am just writing this blindly in hopes that it will help with whatever you are going through right now.
Honestly, this is very difficult for me to write this now since as I mention I am currently feeling down or in my depressive stage. I am easily irritated by things and I am hypersensitive to the point that I combust in anger because of the smallest things or I feel like crying because of things that I know wouldn't matter after five minutes.
So, why am I writing this? Because I know not only me but a lot of people go through this and I want you to know that you are not alone. Besides, I do think this could help me calm myself and regain my composure and this could be the point where I would turn over this stage.
I know you are thinking that I have another segment. Well, hunny I have tons stored for you but I will be revealing them one by one. These segments, they will help my blog be more organized and will help you find whatever you are looking for easily. I can’t wait until I finally able to settle all of them but before that let’s focus on this shall we?
What is CLT Finds?
Previously, you were introduced to a new segment of mine entitled CLT Mini-series in which I try to challenge myself in doing something or using something for seven days straight and as you all know the first Mini-series I did was trying out Miniso skincare products for seven days which I luckily was able to finish and pull off.
Now, we have CLT Finds! Yey! Basically, CLT Finds are things may it be clothing, food, makeup, shoes and everything in between that I just recently discovered. Note that CLT Finds are not necessarily items that I owned or purchase. Oh, how I wish but you will know soon why on earth I wouldn’t own them and I wish to own them.
Okay, let’s not make this any longer! So here are my recent finds that I know will peak your interests as well for all these items are just amazing and that’s an understatement.
1. Puma Thunder Spectra
The moment I saw these, I literally screamed Dan’s name because I know for sure that he will love these as much as I love them! I was casually watching IG Stories when I came upon @alexbeckmans’ story about these fresh babies sent to her by Highsnobiety
So these darlings are the latest runners flagship of Puma. And when I say latest it is not yet officially released thus it doesn’t have a price yet but I am praying and hoping that Puma is going to be a little kind to us and make it affordable cause come on, that could be a dupe for Balenciaga Triple S although Dan will disagree with me.
I do think that it’s a good dupe because for one, Triple S is like over 50K and I don’t have that kind of money, besides Triple S is a little wilder and this one is a little tamed down. And by looking at it I am sure it is not as heavy as Triple S which weighs if I remember it correctly, it’s around 4 pounds. Geez, imagine walking on those.
Damn, you’ll look awesome.
But going back to Thunder Spectra, me and Dan have been waiting for the official release which hopefully will give us a good price.

2. Dr. Martens X Lazy Oaf
Ah, who doesn’t know the classic Doc M with his Air Walker Boots? They’re like the best boots in the world! So recently Dr. Marten’s collaborated with one of my favorite brand which is Lazy Oaf to release cute boots that you will automatically put on your wishlist.
With the combination of the DM’s versatile and classic look and Lazy Oaf’s playfulness and spilling creativity these cute boots were born which were sold out because just look at it. Aren’t they such sweethearts.
These boots retail for 180 USD so it’s around 9,000 PHP. Not bad for the quality and the beauty. This is definitely on my wishlist but if you have the means to purchase it you will have to wait because it’s sold out.

3. The Face Shop Collaboration with Coca-Cola
When I first saw this I was just staring at my mobile phone for solid 5 minutes figuring it out and being amazed at the same time. Dude, have you seen something like this before? I have seen so many collaboration of Face Shop but this is by far my favorite! After staring at it, I started researching with the need to get the collection in my mind.
Apparently, it has already launched in Korea where Face Shop originated but here in the Philippines, it’s still in the works. The launching, I mean. So when you go to the Face Shop branches, don’t be surprised if you didn’t find any.
I am still thinking if they are worth it or not. Maybe I will wait for it to be launched here in PH so I can check it from the store itself. And if you are thinking of getting it as well I found a Youtube video about this which will give you review slash first impression.
Price List (taken from http://beautyboxkorea.com):

4. Clothing and Accessories
Here are some of the clothing and accessories that I found this week.
Zara Semi-Sheer Bodysuit
Retail Price: 1,145 PHP
Since it’s the Summer Spring collections right now expect bright colors and flower prints and as the year goes by the huge brands are getting good with their color and pattern combination. I have never tried wearing a bodysuit for casual wear but with this one, I feel like this is such a good piece to start with. I love yellow and I love flowers! What more can I ask? You had me at this Zara. Well played.

H&M Captain's cap
Retail Price: 899 PHP
Sweetie, it’s time that we give baseball caps some rest and berets a little break because it’s time for this beauty to shine. Just look at how classy and unique captain’s caps are! I would definitely want this in my closet. I have it already on my to buy list because it needs to be there! Just imagine all the good coords it will go with.
And in case you are wondering it is available in two variations a black one and a dark blue velvet one.

Forever 21 Leaf Print Tie-Back Crop Top & Leaf Print Tulip Hem Pants
Okay, I am not a big fan of sets and also slacks because I feel like they make me look shorter or is it just me and my insecurities? But that’s not the point because just look at this beauty! Hunny, I am ready to jump on the sets bandwagon. Count me in because this is a masterpiece. Just look at that print and that pants with that gorgeous slit.
That’s it for this week’s CLT Finds! I enjoyed finding these items however I am saddened at the same time because you know I most likely wouldn’t be able to purchase them but we’ll see right? Right now, we may not be able to afford them and we are being beaten by capitalism but as long as we work hard we would be able to turn the tables around.
What do you think of our finds? And do you like this new segment of our blog? If you do then leave a comment below I would love to hear your thoughts, loves!
I have been planning this for like since last year. I wanted to launch a Youtube channel in which I will share with you so many things but then I haven’t really put out anything since these past weeks.
It feels like I have been giving out so many excuses and waiting for the right timing for me to really push through with the channel only until now that I realize that those excuses are just for me to satisfy myself on why I am not getting my ass up and work on something I wanted for the longest time. And the right timing that I am waiting for? There’s no such. If I wait ‘till I got all the other equipment I need or ‘till I can say to myself that it’s the right time, I will probably be waiting my entire life.
I always thought that, no, I need microphone first, I need lighting first, I need this, I need that and so on. But you see you can make things happen with what you have. If you wanted to do it then you’ll do it in any way possible because you will make a way for things to work out. I guess all of this inspired me to just go with it and throw all the worries and doubts away because I wouldn’t be able to get what I really wanted if I won’t get on my feet and work for it.
Why Dare Little by Little?
This whole thought inspired this video. The lookbook is nothing special, it’s a collection of clothes that are very MV. Everything that I wore on this lookbook is clothes that I would really wear going to school or just casually going out.
The title Dare Little by Little is pertaining to me doing things that I would not do normally. I wanted to break free from the comfort zone that has been cradling me my entire life. Though I tend to leave my comfort zone every now and then I always succumb back to it which I am still analyzing whether it’s a bad or a good thing.
And I believe this, together with my other videos, is the first steps for me to go beyond and work towards the dreams and visions I have in mind. I don’t want to be filled with regret in the future. What I wanted is a future self that will tell my old self that we did well and good thing we decided to do this.
Conceptualization
I have always known to myself that Dan and I will refuse to do common lookbooks. We have always been fascinated by creative collection videos by brands and music videos in Kpop industries. Some of you may raise their eyebrows on the K-POP thing but I am telling you whether you like it or not if you watched their music videos you’ll know how high quality they are.
The art direction is simply on point and the production design is just gorgeous I can even put them in words. You’ll always find something new, unique and very aesthetically pleasing. You can just watch the mv without like the song and you’ll admire all the creativity and work they put into it.
So why am I telling you this? Because my lookbook is inspired by one Kpop music video which is I’m Good by Bumzu ft. Sik-K, one of Dan’s favorite Korean underground rappers.
When I saw the video, I knew that I had to do something like that and thus this lookbook was born. For the clothes we didn't plan it out really, we just rummage what I have and see where it will take us and I am very happy with the clothes selection. Don’t worry, we’ll definitely have better coords next time.
Clothes
As mentioned, we didn’t have a concrete plan on the clothes but we wanted to pull certain aesthetics. So, we started rummaging my clothes (which I am surprised how much I have, geez) and started finding out three sets that we’ll go with. And I am very happy with the one we came up with.
1. Laidback Stripes
We both wanted something a little formal but at the same time casual. So we decided to get this blue long sleeve polo of mine which has white and red vertical stripes on it. This type of clothing is very popular right now since I have been seeing a lot of people pulling off this top. I got this top from a thrift store, I think I got it for 250 PHP. I paired it with my old maroon jeans which I got back in days were different colored jeans are the thing. I don’t know how old this jean is but I have come to love it only now because believe it or not it used to be so loose on me.
To finish off the whole look I paired it with my boots which I bought from Moderno Sense when I had my Moderno Sense Haul. I got this boots for a whopping 850 PHP. It’s very much like Doc Martens but without paying gold bars. (Haha)

2. Grudge Kimono
When Dan and I saw this Kimono we knew to ourselves that we need to buy it. Like a huge, huge NEED! We bought it from a thrift shop for around 150 PHP. And when I knew that we will be shooting a lookbook this definitely needs to make it to the whole lookbook! So I paired this with a crop sleeveless which I knew I got for 50 PHP but I forgot where. Then I paired it with my old jeans in which I diy-ed by ripping it off. My stepmom bought it for me so I am not sure how much it was. Then I use an Off-White belt that I got from Shopee. I am pretty sure this is fake cause it’s for 150 PHP only. Don’t buy counterfeits, kids.
Lastly, I paired this whole look with black creepers from Zalora which I bought from my friend for 500 PHP then I also got socks from Mumuso which I bought for 199 PHP for 2 pairs. And let’s not forget the fishnet stocking I used which I got from SM Department store for 199 PHP
3. Candy Retro
I have always wanted to pull off this kind of look. Lately, I have been in love with colorful stripes clothing. They’re very nostalgic for me and appropriate for summer if you are not into the flower patterns. If you only see my Pinterest account, almost 50% was this type of clothing. I got my colorful turtleneck long sleeves from a thrift store for only 120 PHP. When I saw it I didn’t hesitate and purchased it. I paired this with another thrift store find which is my sleeveless black straight dress. I got it for I think 75 PHP.
I paired it with my fishnet stocking which was the same one I used for the previous outfit, I also wore my favorite sunflower socks I got from Shopee for 99 PHP. Yes, I do love Shopee! But we’ll get on that in another blog post. I also used one of my most favorite ukay finds, which is a grudgy heels. I bought it for I think around 360 PHP. I’m pretty sure it will not exceed 360 PHP.
Technicalities
In case you are wondering what are the equipment and application we used here is the list:
Equipment
Sony a6300 with the Kit Lens
Zhiyun Crane Version 1.2
Applications
Adobe Premier CC 2018
Adobe After Effects CC 2018
Music
For the music, we found this awesome Korean song by ArtinB which the license is Creative Commons! Meaning you can use it without worrying about copyright issues but that’s not the main point to be hype here because just listen to the song and you will know how awesome it is.
I am very satisfied with how this whole lookbook turned out. It felt like I have my own Korean or Kpop music video than having an ordinary lookbook in which I will do my awkward poses!
We did enjoy making the whole lookbook and we are definitely looking forward to making more. What do you think about this lookbook? We would love to hear your thoughts and also if you have suggestions for the next one just leave them below because we will definitely look at them!
[CLT Mini-series] Day 7: Are Miniso Skincare Products Worth It?
CLT Mini-series: Trying Miniso Skin Care Products for Seven Days
And like most of my blog post, this is long overdue. I’m sorry, I should really work on my time management. Anyhoo, I am not pretty sure what happened on why I wasn’t to post the final review for the Seven Days Miniso Skincare Products but here it is. And since I posted it late, I made a video about it which you can watch here or on my Youtube channel!
Speaking of Youtube channel, as I mentioned, I have launched my channel for more than a week now so please do subscribe because I have planned so many fun videos that hopefully you’ll enjoy!
Going back to the topic, my video is not really that in dept so if you want more information on how the first CLT Mini-series turned out then keep reading.
Before anything, a little disclaimer, all products work differently on people as we are all unique. So, it may work for me but not for you or it may work for you but not for me. You know the gist.
The Nature of My Skin
I haven’t really gone into much details about the nature of my skin. My skin is a combination or oily and dry skin. Sometimes, it’s too dry and other times it’s oily. I rarely drink water, I can’t even finish a bottle a day, which of course you should not do. Drink your water, kids. It’s important. I am trying to drink more water myself. With that given, you probably have the idea of how dry my skin is. My pores are big as well, you can clearly see them like they are staring right into your soul.
I am exaggerating a bit of course.
My Previous Skin Care
I don’t have any. I am your simple soap type skincare girl. Sometimes if I am in the mood I would buy iWhite’s facial wash, aqua moisturizer, nose strip, facial mask and pore purifying balm. But that’s like once every six months or once a year.
I stick to soap and water and thus you can definitely say that I am new to this skin care program which I think is one of an advantage for me to give you an honest opinion coming from someone who legitimately just tried it for the first time. The only con is that my other information may be wrong but we will definitely learn from it.
Products I Used:
1. Gentle and Soft Makeup Remover Lotion
2. Cotton Snowy Cleansing Foam
3. Lavander Hydrating Toner
4. Intensive Hydration Moisturizer
5. Cotton Pads: Combination of Thick and Thin Pure Cotton Pads
6. Olive Essence Oil
7. Grapefruit Moisturizing Mask
First Impression
Before I feel like doing a skincare routine is such a drag. Not only will they cost expensive but they will take so much of your time. I thought this whole skincare routine will burden me a lot however how come no one told me that doing this is actually relaxing and pretty much soothing? I feel like it lifts up my exhaustion of the entire day! Maybe because I don’t read or watch a lot of skincare related videos and blog.
Problems Encountered
I am freaking out on my second day onwards because of the pimples popping here and there leaving dark spots. I was thinking of what Dan told me before that when he used to do skincare he started having breakouts then when he stopped doing it that’s when his skin became clear.
With this knowledge, I began to be paranoid and I started regretting buying and doing it but then I persevere and continued using it despite that. I was thinking that perhaps it’s my hormones since I just got off my period or maybe it’s because my skin is not used to all these things suddenly being introduced to it.
After the seventh day, I completely stopped doing my skincare and that’s when the pimples stopped coming which made me think that it was indeed the skincare’s fault. Only after three days, I started giving it a chance again after Dan told me how my skin lighten (not whiten, it’s different) and became soft and smooth and also look more hydrated than ever.
I thought, so it really has good effect so lemme try it again. And I am using it for more than three days and I haven’t seen any pimple.
Conclusion? It’s either my hormones were teasing me or my skin was not really used to being pampered all of a sudden then got used to it. Although personally if I see pimples coming back again, I would definitely not use it again. So, you just really need to test and try things out and who knows it might really work for you.
Skin After Skincare
Not only did I noticed it but also Dan so meaning it’s effective! So what did the two of us noticed? My skin became more healthy looking since it looked hydrated. It became soft and smooth. And for some miraculous reason, even though the products that I used are all lotion-y or gel-like formula, it reduced the oiliness that my face suffers from sometimes. And the stress on my face is reduced by 50%. Ah, the magic of skincare. Thank you Miniso for giving me an affordable one. (This is not sponsored! Though I wish it were.)
The Bullet Points
Here are the things that I have taken note of for this whole Mini-series:
It does its job.
It’s very affordable, baby. So affordable.
It made me enjoy skincare!
The packaging is just so good! I love a great packaging. OMG.
This is a perfect starter kit if you are planning to get into skincare and doesn’t want to spend that much. Remember you can start from a lower tier because if you started from a high tier you would have a problem transitioning to other products especially if you wanted something a little less than what you’re using.
Final Thoughts
I am very into it. So this is a major YAY! As mentioned above, this is a great starter kit if you wanna jump on the skincare bandwagon. It’s affordable and of good quality. Just be careful though because this might work for me but it could be different from your case. But for this Miniso Skincare Products for seven days, it’s a success and I will definitely continue using them.
Take Aways
Do research first. Don’t imitate me who decided to do skincare out of whim and purchase products without thoroughly reading what they are. Know your skin type, know what you want to achieve for your skin. Note them and it’s okay to spend time reading the products and what. Even if it’s not that much, it’s an investment of yours so you need to get the most of it and besides you will be using it on your face so you really need to know them.
Don’t be afraid to try something new! Because you won’t know until you do so. Like me, I didn’t know that this is one way for me to relax and what but now, I know and I am grateful for that.
So, did you like our Mini-series? If you did do tell me your thoughts about this and if you decided to try Miniso skincare products, I would love to hear how it went for you. And you can tell me all of that in the comment section below and also if you have any suggestion for the next mini-series or for this blog also leave some comments below!
Cheers!
The Whole Mini-series:
• [CLT Mini-series] Day 1: Trying Miniso Skincare Products for 7 Days
• [CLT Mini-series] Day 2: Oh No, Is That an Acne?!
• [CLT Mini-series] Day 3 & 4: Holy Guacamole, What's This?
• [CLT Mini-series] Day 5 & 6: My Face is Ready to Bake
[CLT Mini-series] Day 5 & 6: My Face is Ready to Bake
CLT Mini-series: Trying Miniso’s Skin Care Products for 7 Days
Okay, so this is late because as you all know if you are following me on my Instagram which is @somecrazylittlethoughts you would know that my midterms are killing me. I am not even exaggerating. Or maybe a little but still, midterms are just so much for me or for any students I supposed.
Anyhoo, going back to the topic so on my fifth day I still keep having small pimples. Some of them show up others just ends up being dark spots which are still unpleasant for me. I am actually thinking of stopping doing this daily skincare routine but at the same time, I want to continue doing it since I have gotten used to it and it is still beneficial with my face smoother and softer.
Because of that, I am getting more into the skin care and I started doing research about skincare and I saw that I didn’t really have the complete Korean skincare so yeah. I need few things which include mask, eye cream, serum, exfoliator, and essence. And what do you know, I ended up going to Miniso the past day and I bought an essence oil and mask!
I guess we are not stopping with this mini-series are we?
Here’s what I got:
1. Olive Essence Oil
Price: 99 PHP
Weight: 2.36 oz. / 70g
Product Features: Natural olive oil containing a number of active ingredients to effectively facilitate skin cell regeneration while keeping the skin moist. This product can be easily absorbed by the skin while reducing the lines and wrinkles. Leaving skin tender and supple.
Storage Methods: Place in dry and ventilated place
How to Use: After bathing or cleansing, take the appropriate amount of the product and evenly apply to dry parts of your body.
1. Grapefruit Moisturizing Mask (3 counts)
Price: 99 PHP
Weight: 0.67 x 3 fl. oz. / 19 ml x 3
Product Features: Formula enriched with moisturizing essence to deeply moisturize and soothe skin at the same time.
Storage Methods: Please keep it in a cool and dry place with the temperature above 0 degrees Celsius.
How to Use: 1. Clean face. 2. Take out and unfold the mask over face. Gently press with finger pulp for better absorption. 3. Wait for 15 - 20 minutes. Peel off the mask slowly. Gently massage for better absorption.
It took so much time in Miniso finding a serum and an exfoliator and also eye cream. There’s a serum there but I am not sure if I should get it and in the end, I didn’t get the serum. In the last minute, I decided to just get the essence oil and the mask.
Anyway, I am very excited to try it out, especially the mask because I wanted to relax even just a little. So I proceeded with the same routine only this time after toning, I put an essence oil which I gently patted all over my face. After massaging it to my face, I quickly put the mask on and oh boy, it’s so relaxing I nearly fell asleep. I love how it feels cold against my face and I love the gel-like formula that comes with it. I let it sit on my face for 20 minutes afterward I removed it and massaged the remains of it on my face.
Everything made my face so shiny that I almost had the urge to fry or bake my face and I haven’t put a moisturizer on. I felt so uncomfortable to the point that, I need to wipe my face using cotton pads. After seeing my face not so shiny anymore, I started putting the moisturizer on.
I don’t know what would be the result of all the chemicals I have been putting on my face, I just wished that I won’t regret anything at all.
6th Day
I just did the same thing I did on the 5th day minus the mask since you are only supposed to do that once or twice a week. I am starting to really doubt this whole thing because I hate seeing a lot of small pimples on my skin and even dark spots. It could be just my hormones but I am not really sure. I am not saying that I don’t have all these imperfections before but it’s not on this level.
Although it’s not really that worse but still! I guess it’s just me being so paranoid and what not. Anyhoo, we are down to the final day so I will definitely finish this one so we can discover more things out there together.
With that being said, you need to look out for the last post for this Mini-series.
And since we are almost done with this then if you have any suggestions for the next mini-series, I would love to hear all about it in the comment section. And also what do you think about this whole mini-series? I do hope it helped you in some way and I do hope that you enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed doing it.
[CLT Mini-series] Day 3 & 4: Holy Guacamole, What’s This?
CLT Mini-series: Trying Miniso’s Skincare Products for 7 Days
I know this is supposed to be a daily thing but hear me out, will you? So last March 18th, we went to this so-called company’s event, I am not gonna drop the name, because it happened to be there anniversary and there will be over 5 million worth of prizes. The prizes had Dan’s mom stoke so she asked me a favor if I can join her and go to the event. I said yes, of course, I love Dan’s mom and besides, I am just gonna accompany her to that event in which there will be artists performing.
Long story short, the event started late, it went over time and the so-called raffle didn’t happen and both I and Dan’s mom were pissed because we got home at 4 in the morning when we went there before 6 in the evening. So much time wasted so let’s just forget all about it.
Anyhoo, despite being tired I still pushed through with the skincare because I am getting used to it and if I continue this for 21 days this will be a habit already. Now that got me thinking. Moving on, as I mentioned I keep getting these small pimples and whiteheads and for the third day, there are still some visible but I pushed through because knowing myself I tend to overreact at times and overthink things that I am not supposed to overthink about.
Setting aside the fact that I am getting some pimple here and there, I am starting to notice the effect of this skin care with my face left hydrated and soft. I am not kidding you, I can’t stop touching my face because it’s soft and smooth and I feel like I made the right decision. But let’s not jump to conclusion, shall we?
Here’s the thing though, even Dan notice the smoothness and softness of my face. Should I do this to my entire body? Just kidding.
The fourth day went well, I noticed when I am about to start that some of my accumulated pimples are gone! Huzzah! Does this mean that this skin care is becoming really, really worth it? I can’t tell yet, we still have three days left. I am planning on buying facial scrub and mask tomorrow since that’s also part of the 10 steps Korean skincare. Facemasks always excite me. I am pretty sure I will enjoy it since I am in the midst of my Midterms week (please kill me).
Anyhoo, for this blog post, I included a video of me doing my skincare routine! This is the first video on my youtube channel. And yes, I have now a youtube channel! Hurray! I have been wanting to start one for so long and now I have one. Finally. So if you wanna see more amateur videos hit that subscribe button. Hope you enjoy it!
Tell me your thoughts about this whole mini-series down below and also if you want more videos from me! If you have any questions and suggestions I would love to hear them! Leave all of them below, in the comment section.
CLT Mini-series: Trying Miniso’s Skincare Products for 7 Days
Lesson learned. I need to do my research and read the product description thoroughly before I proceed to the counter and pay for it. Here’s the thing, I am back at my retail therapy (which is a not cheap way of relieving stress) and I was walking and all of sudden had the urge to buy skincare product and do this mini-series. Long story short here we are after I bought products from Miniso without reading nor researching them and solely relying on my knowledge of what you need for a 10 steps Korean skincare.
Anywho, the first day went fine until I woke up and saw small acne forming on my face and I was like oh my god, help me. But then, I thought to myself that maybe it’s because I was over my period and I do have small acne here and there at times. I wanted to give the products and this whole process a benefit of the doubt because I after all just used it for one day. Let’s not exaggerate, shall we?
The second day, I am pretty excited so after I ate I started preparing the things I need.
I prepped up and began with removing my makeup and that’s when I noticed how all of my product has this very lotion-like consistency to the point that I am starting to hate it because it feels so sticky and gooey on my face but then I proceed. I enjoyed the facial wash though, it’s my favorite part.
But when I started toning, I started stressing as well since I used my fingertips to apply the toner that’s when I noticed that instead of this water consistency and that I keep seeing on other toners, the one I got is very gel like and thus it’s sticky plus the moisturiser that looks like a lotion. I feel like my face is ready to be baked because of all these oils on my face which made me worry because I keep seeing small pimples growing on my face.
Okay, let’s calm down. It’s just the second day, we still have five more days to go and we will see what will happen. Setting aside all those, I noticed how my skin does feel hydrated and soft. It is also dewy which I loved! I feel like I am succeeding at getting this dewy, fresh skin. I sincerely hope though that these small pimples will be gone soon because if I will have an empire of them I would scream.
Just kidding. I may cry though.
Do you have any suggestion or idea on which product am I using wrong? Tell me in the comments below! I would love to hear your opinion on this.
[CLT Mini-series] Day 1: Trying Miniso’s Skincare Products for 7 Days
The First Ever CLT Mini-series is here!
Disclaimer: This is not sponsored!
Ah, Miniso, the land of random yet cute and aesthetically pleasing products. Like everyone else, I love going to Miniso whether I am really buying or not because aside from their products are surprisingly affordable, they’re very high quality and has good packaging and designs! Who wouldn’t love that?
So, Miniso sells various products and one of those are skincare goodies! Now, I am not that big when it comes to skin care because one, I am a very lazy person and two, I am very busy. I have a lot of things I need to finish and prioritize before my skin. So you could just imagine how awful my skin is. Exaggeration aside, it’s not really that awful, it’s a mixture of dry and oily skin and I have huge pores but luckily my skin loves me and I didn’t have any acne or breakouts.
And that’s one of the reasons as well why I don’t do skincare routine because I don’t wanna start putting all these things on my face and start building empires of acne. I have always been afraid of getting breakouts because I will all of sudden put all these foreign stuff on my face. But for this week, I am stepping out of the comfort zone and jumping on the bandwagon and see where it will take me.
Will I love it or will I regret it? You may want to find out so keep reading ‘till we finish the whole mini-series. So, what is this whole mini-series that I am talking about? I decided to challenge myself into doing some mini-series in which I will be updating every day about the challenge that I would be doing and whatnot.
Anyhoo, back to the main topic of this blog which is skincare using Miniso’s products. I bought a total of 5 products which costs me around 645 PHP and that’s cheap, I am telling you because if I bought these from a different store, I could have been paying more than a thousand.
Here are the products that I bought:

5. Cotton Pads: Combination of Thick and Thin Pure Cotton Pads
Price: 99 PHP
Size: 6′6 cm, 75 + 400 Sheets
Admittedly I didn’t do my research before buying things and so I just picked whatever I like and I based it by the packaging without reading the description and so I am very surprised that I got products that focus on moisturizing one’s skin because I needed that a lot. It’s wrong but I rarely drink water thus my skin is very dry.
And also, I have been admiring the dewy skin that is a trend right now so might as well try.
The Routine:
1. Removing my Makeup
Today, I wore a full face makeup and most of them needed makeup remover. So I began with the makeup remover I got which I love a lot because it comes in this easy pump bottle that also has a lock so you won’t accidentally pump it when it’s in your bag. And because I didn’t really read the description, I didn’t know that it was a makeup remover lotion which was a first for me. I didn’t even know that makeup remover lotion exists!
But I am totally in for this one! Because when I used it, it doesn’t feel greasy unlike the standard makeup remover and also it’s very fun and easy to apply and my makeup was easily removed.
2. Washing my Face
This one is what I am excited the most. I read the label that it was a foam cleanser and that alone got me excited. It has been a long time since I used a facial cleanser to wash my face so I enjoyed the experience. It did its job well, I am impressed.
3. Toning Up
This is the part that I fear the most. Most likely because I grew up in the generation of awfully strong toner I watched older girls have their faces peeling because of toner and so I swear to myself to never use one but then I have watched a lot of skin care routine that includes and stresses the importance of toners. And so, here I am trying a toner for the first time.
I love the toner I got, it has an aesthetically pleasing packaging and it has flowers floating in it and it doesn’t smell chemical. Praise the heavens!
But since I am still scared of toner, I decided to put just little on cotton pads and apply it on my face. Maybe I’ll be more comfortable tomorrow.
4. Moisturizing
Ah, this is the main reason why I wanted to do skincare. It’s because of the famous moisturizers that are popping here and there. I may not be able to buy the famed Aloe Vera Moisturizer of The Face Shop or Nature Republic but I do think I have a good moisturizer from Miniso. It’s very hydrating and I enjoyed putting it on my face and I enjoyed it’s effect more. My face felt softer and livelier.
And that’s my simple skin routine using Miniso products! I am still thinking of buying masks and facial scrub since those are the only thing missing and I will be able to complete the 10 Korean steps for skincare which I was aiming for from the beginning! I’ll let you know if I was able to purchase some which hopefully I will.
If you are planning on starting your skincare hopefully you find this helpful. And if you have tried these products please do comment down below. I would love to hear your experiences and also your other suggestions.

Okay, this goes way beyond. Honestly, this was taken last December 28th last year yet I keep on forgetting about it and I feel bad how I did not appreciate this that much though looking at the pictures Dan took, I can say that I love this whole look.
Maybe the reason why I have not posted for this for the longest time is that I felt that time that it’s too early to release this considering I have been posting pics from a different shoot using the same color block jacket (I am referring to this post). Even though I had a totally different outfit from then, it somehow felt very similar because it has the same accent piece.
But then, I suddenly have the thought of why would it matter if I am repeating my clothes. I am not a celebrity and I don’t have the mall’s whole department store for my closet as much as I wanted to. And though I am aiming to be a fashion blogger, I am merely starting and clothes are quite expensive even though I get most of mine from thrift stores. And to sum it all up, there’s nothing really wrong with wearing the same clothes again.
I love each of my clothes and I bought them because I wanted and I can see myself wearing them over and over again for the longest time and I think that should be one of the biggest factors on why you will be buying your clothes aside from the price and comfortability.
For this look, I just stole Dan’s worn out Panda graphic tee which he bought for 150 PHP at Culture Tee in SM Department Stores. I paired it with the light blue cullotes that I bought from a thrift shop for 150 PHP. I wore my favorite fishnet stockings and one of our best color block jacket which we got from an online thrift store. I wore 99 PHP socks from MUMUSO (just look at that cute heart!) and my white sneakers from Moderno Sense.
And then we’re all set to conquer (or walk) the streets of Ortigas.
So, how do I decide whether to buy one piece of clothing or not?
Here are the questions I answer myself before paying for that clothing.
1. Is it something I would wear over and over again?
It’s important very important for you to know if you are willing to wear that clothes over and over again until it wears out. This would only mean that piece you are holding and thinking of buying is one, comfortable and two, your style.
2. Is it comfortable?
Comfortability is something I think about all the time. If you can’t stand in that clothes for more than 10 minutes, toss it away. It’s not for you, dear. If your confidence goes down the drain with that piece, better put it back. You don’t need that. You need something that will make you feel you. Something that will boost your confidence and will empower you.
3. Is it within my budget?
Well, I could dream of affording all these clothes I wanted but until that isn’t my reality, I have a budget I must comply with. Even though some of you might think that this should go first, I don’t really believe that since if I wanted this one top so much, I am willing to go over my budget on some extent. Given that it exceeded my first two questions above.
How about you? What are the factors you are looking for before buying your clothes? I would definitely love to hear them, so leave them below!
But in the end, no matter what you’re wearing as long as you wear it with confidence you’ll make it look priceless.
Doughnuts, sandwiches, and coffee all the way from Canada to Cubao.
DISCLAIMER: I am not paid to post this, though I wish I am. Haha.
Honestly, I did not plan this blog post thus resulting in lack of good photos. I did try though. Anyhoo, yesterday we went to SM Cubao to purchase a stroller for Dan’s newborn nephew, Primo and of course since we’re already there might as well eat, right?
We ended up eating in one of my fave food chain which is Army Navy when Dan suddenly brought up how the Tim Hortons branch in Kia Theater is already open. You see, we have been seeing tons of advertisement on Kia Theater that they will have a Tim Hortons there.
For those who aren’t familiar with Tim Hortons, it’s basically a Canadian Krispy Kreme. With doughnuts, tarts, sandwiches, latte and so much more.
It happened to be Dan’s mom’s favorite when she was still working in Dubai and so, after eating we went straight there to check the whole place. And yes, it’s already open with all the balloons and flower.
First thing I noticed is how the whole place looks neat and amazing. It’s clean with that gray brick design and the red accent here and there and also the seemingly wooden flooring. The line is a little long since it just recently opened. We then checked out their doughnuts and pastries and proceed on choosing what we wanted and ordering them. I can’t give yet a full-blown comparison but I will in my upcoming blog which you definitely need to watch out for. It will be exciting since I will be comparing Krispy Kreme, J.Co and Tim Hortons.
I did end up with Double Chocolate Fudge doughnut which I think was okay. It’s mediocre to honest but I still enjoyed it. We didn’t order any drinks since we don’t feel like being caffeinated that time. But just looking at their menu makes me excited about what they offer.
I will definitely be back to try their stuff and will post about it. Tim Hortons is huge in Canada and if you wanted to have a taste of what they had there, you can go to Kia Theater and try it.
Which do you think is better? Krispy Kreme, J.Co or Tim Hortons? Leave your answers below because I would love to hear your opinion!
Okay, I may have been exaggerating on the title but I am not exaggerating when I tell you how Travel Expo will change your life.
Last week, February 9 to 11, was the 25th Travel Tour Expo held at SMX Convention. And this is the first time I have attended it and I am overwhelmed by the number of people who went there hoping to snatch the best deals for their vacation may it be a local trip or international trip.
OOTD for the Expo
Honestly, I am not that big when it comes to traveling. I have always believed that I can’t afford such luxury and there are more important things than to indulge in a vacation I can’t even afford in the first place. Although, I won’t be lying that I have dreamed of being able to go places and travel with no worries. I have always wanted to go out of the country and conquer this huge planet of ours. But yeah, I still got long, long way to go before I will be able to do that.
But this year turned out to be a little different because I have a fairy godmother in the form of Dan’s mom. And this year, she’s determined for the whole family to get a vacation out of the country. She had been adamant about it since last year and when I saw a Facebook post regarding this Travel Expo, I immediately sent her the link thinking that it might help.
Fast forward last week, I accompanied her to SMX Convention for this Travel Tour Expo. Quite frankly, I thought not many people go to this kind of convention and turns out I am totally wrong. The line was long and the crowd started becoming a sea that I felt like drowning. And yes, it’s overdramatic, I just want you to see the whole picture.
After purchasing two tickets which cost 70 PHP with a free blue eco bag, we went inside and lo behold, the gold mine of the travel savvy. I felt like my eyes were deceiving me for I am seeing plane tickets for Japan for as low as $99 (of course tax not included). There was so many travel agency armed with their own promotions may it be fares or land arrangement. There were so many destinations to choose from local to international.
The choices were tough as it seemed endless and I am just happy that we found the perfect package for us. For a little over $88 each, ALL IN (meaning inclusive of taxes and airport fares etc and with 30kg luggage each!), we got seven tickets going to Hong Kong, back and forth. And that would be for 3 nights and 2 days!
When I had the ticket in my hand, I felt like I was in this beautiful dream that I never wanted to end. I am just happy that I can’t barely contain it to myself. Going through the crowd, the long travel to MOA, the long lines and everything in between, was just simply more than worth it.
Here are some of my important takeaways from my first time going to Travel Expo:
1. Prepare your money, bring cash or at least have your cards with you may it be debit or credit card.
2. Bring photocopies or your passport itself. Not just yours but of your family or friends or whoever is joining you on the trip.
3. Eat first before going in and bring water and some snacks because the lines are gonna be long, that’s for sure.
4. Have your cellphones fully charged for instant calculator, search engines, and taking notes.
5. Always ask, don’t assume the price according to what is posted on the booths. Most of the time the fares and package amount posted doesn’t include a lot of different fees such as taxes and airport fees.
6. Don’t stay in one booth, roam around, discover, compare and you’ll find the perfect deal for you eventually.
7. And as always, patience is the key.
8. Having a destination in mind helps a lot! We don’t want to go there and jumble from one place to another. Not only will it slow you down but it will make the whole process chaotic.
9. Same as having the destination in mind, it’s also great if you have the travel time in mind as well. This will make the life of the one assisting you easier and yours as well.
10. Most of the promotional prices work on certain days so sometimes your chosen dates doesn’t have the promotional price so better have your phone ready so you can easily contact the people who will be with you on the trip.
I didn’t really stay that long in the expo unlike others but through that given time I have learned a lot. Next year, I wanted to go back and see what deal we’ll be able to get next.
Did you go to the Travel Tour Expo? How was it? I would love to hear your experience in the comment section below.
Cheers!
P.S Do excuse my pics, I can’t barely move that day. See you on the next post! Mwuuuaaah!
