“you can tell me until you’re blue in the face that you’re not doing it, but we both know i can sucker you into it anyhow.” ottilie said this matter-of-factly, the smile on their face clearly amused as they gave oskar the stare down. they had taken a liking to him a few months prior, when he had been in town for a finances meeting that they’d sat in on to take notes. the dichotomy of their relationship seemed to help, and after just a few days of studying his patterns, ottilie had wiggled their way into the swede’s life, and it was clear they intended to keep being a pain in his side.Â
“can’t a person just come say hi to their friend?” they huffed, though the feigned look of offense melted into a mischievous within seconds. “i finally get to have you in one place again and all you can do is doubt my intentions, and i think it’s rude.” without another word, otto hopped up onto oskar’s desk, crossing their long legs into a criss-cross pattern as they reached over to pinch his cheek. “c’mon, you big baby. you can go without your nap for one day so you can entertain me. i haven’t seen you in over a month and my palms are itching to get you to let loose.”
If anyone were to ask Oskar how he and Ottilie had become friends, he wouldn’t be able to answer. The two had plenty in common, but they also were complete opposites in so many ways. But, perhaps, that was wha made it work so well. They balanced each other out. Like now, when Oskar would prefer to bury himself in paperwork and loneliness, but the woman simply wouldn’t let him. She was good for him in ways he would certainly never admit out loud. “Unfortunately, you’re right. You use your little magic powers and somehow I always end up doing what you want. “Â
He was wiping the table clean from where his shoes had been on it when she hopped right onto the spot, looking up at her with a raised brow. “A person certainly can just come say hi to a friend, but you are not just any person, Otto. I know the scheming looking behind those eyes. “ he couldn’t help but chuckle a little, truly happy to be in the same room as his friend after some time. “You’re just lucky you’re my go-to American tour guide. So what exactly did you have in mind?”
