how did you deal with homesickness/moving away from ur family for the first time? :(
luckily i didn’t have v severe homesickness since i’ve always been fairly independent growing up (side effect of having v busy parents lmao,,,) but i think a good way of overcoming it is trying to immerse yourself into your new surroundings as much as possible. when you find and build solid connections in your new place, it helps to alleviate the feelings of distress and loneliness that come with homesickness. i’m not sure if you’re moving out for college or just moved out of your family home, but here’s a few tips that you’ll hopefully find useful:
1. try to incorporate elements of home in your new place
try and have something in your new place that grounds you and reminds you of home. it could be something material like a photograph of your family or a plushy/blanket that your siblings or something gave you, a candle that smells like home, etc. i think that’s key to make your new place feel more comfortable so you can feel more at home, which is the first step to getting over homesickness
2. keep yourself busy
ruminating will make you feel more homesick so try to stay busy!! talk to your family (maybe you can schedule regular video chats/phone calls for the first few weeks/however long you need to help you adjust?*) and friends, watch a show, read, do stuff that fulfils you and makes you happy. perhaps you can also keep yourself busy by trying to make your new space more comfortable so you can settle in better!! as you can tell, there’s a recurring theme here: getting more comfortable in your new space!! if you can do so safely, it might also be a good idea to explore your new surroundings. homesickness is mainly due to being in unfamiliar surroundings so this can help to alleviate it.
also, while i think talking to your family can help a lot with homesickness, it may also make it a lot more difficult bc it might make you miss them more. your family will always be there and you can always see them/visit them, so it’s important for you to focus on building something of your own and to focus on you.
3. make new connections
making new connections is a great way to feel more connected to your new surroundings!! given the current situation it’s pretty difficult to meet + make new friends but once things are safe and closer to “normal” again, it would be great for you to join societies/clubs and go to meetups to meet like minded people with similar interests
3|2|17 this week…i’ve remained ridiculously unproductive, i don’t understand why i’m like this?!

AUGUST 2020
Hi! How are you? I hope you’re all doing well. my first-second week of august had been a roller coaster of emotions. i’ve met a lot of nice people in this community too! so thankful for the friendships built this month~ ☎️ Looking forward for the adventures that I may encounter this week. Hoping I’ll be more productive and get to focus on studying. I’ve set aside drawing but might draw tomorrow while drinking iced coffee in the garden!🌳🌿🌸🌷🍂╰(*´︶`*)╯♡ The heart memo pad is for my reflections corner. (My reflections corner includes moods/emotions, how I felt for this week but in a short narrative?? quick description of how my week went??) Now Playing: Seventeen - Fallin’ Flower
First week of law school complete!
Hello hello! Sorry I’ve been gone for so long… Honestly not much motivation to be productive given everything, but this past Monday I’ve finally started law school! Boy oh boy was it an overwhelming week. Successfully completed all my readings though, so I will take that as a win (although I understood very few of them…). This weekend will definitely be all about catch-up in terms of understanding even though it’s only the first week.
To those who’ve also started (online) school, I hope it’s going well! Online classes are definitely something to get used to, but we’ve got this. (Also thinking of changing my username to something more law related.. any suggestions? My current one is based on a K-Pop song but I do not condone studying all night hahaha)
planners and reorganization //
since I have a 6 hour break between my two classes, I decided to reorganize my desk and also redo the papers on my wall now that classes have started
this planner is so cute and I'm excited to start using it (even though I'll probably end up forgetting about it in a few weeks)

burnt coffee gifted by the curious moon, words shifting into hieroglyphics as your eyes glaze over with tiredness dragging your eyelids down like a drug, scribbling along with the awakening birds and early workers

I’ve said this before but: I love this kind of summer-autumn morning light. It is especially good on a Sunday morning when there’s nothing to do but drink coffee, read a good book, make plans or cancel them all to lie on the rug and listen to music and watch the dust in it.
