When #kagehina need to whisper something to each other at an event, they have different ways of getting each other's attention. As soon as Shoyo wraps his hand around Tobio's arm, Tobio tilts his head down for Shoyo to whisper into his ear.
Meanwhile Tobio will pull Shoyo close by whatever part of him he can grab; his favorites are the back of his neck or around the waist. Shoyo immediately recognizes Tobio's hand on him and lets himself get tucked into Tobio's side for Tobio's lips to brush against Shoyo's ear.
If Tobio grabs him by the nape of his neck, then his hand always gentles into a casual rub that slowly trails down Shoyo's spine to the small of his back. If Tobio grabs Shoyo by the waist, well...his fingers might loosen, but his hand's not going anywhere 🫶🏾
There's something about the image of them being in a room full of people, whether it's a stadium or a fancy party, and so easily pulling each other into their own little world.
Think of the drive-by whispers! Tobio walks past Shoyo, who's in a group conversation, and catches him around the waist just long enough to whisper something quick—maybe to share some tea or other news—before walking away, leaving Shoyo to stare wide-eyed after him. Shoyo mouths "Really?!" at him and only gets a satisfied nod in response before they're both pulled (back) into different conversations.
Or Tobio catching a brief break from socializing at the refreshments table when Shoyo hurries to his side and grabs his arm. Tobio tilts his head just in time to catch Shoyo's eager whispers. Anyone else who might be watching them can only make out Tobio muttering, "Seriously? From who?" before Shoyo tugs him back down. He only gets in one more whisper before someone approaches to chat with Shoyo. Shoyo lets himself get led away, but not without shooting Tobio a meaningful glance over his shoulder. Tobio scoffs, "Dumbass," but is smiling when he sips from his glass. Everyone at the party knows that whatever they say to one will be known by the other 😌
Tobio likes to move Shoyo around while Shoyo makes Tobio move for him...the power they've always held over each other...so different but so strong either way hehe 💖
(idk I just randomly thought about the canon differences in the way they tug each other around to whisper in high school (Tobio grabbing Shoyo by the collar or back of his shirt, Shoyo tugging at or tapping Tobio's shoulder) and how that would translate as adults 🥹)
