After a while of searching ( too stubborn to ask for help, she was used to doing things for herself by now ) the Princess had eventually located the kitchens. Yet the Swiss food, or what she had found of it, left much to be desired in place of the Greek delicacies she was used to. Was nothing they kept fresh? As she tore at something with her teeth, her nose immediately wrinkled in distaste and she covered her mouth, about to spit it out when she heard anothers presence. So, she swallowed, glancing toward the doorway. “I don’t suppose you know where they hide the good food?” The silver haired woman questioned, her tone as dry drawl as always. She had never been a people person.

He grew frustrated with attending meals at court. Not that he had much of an appetite after recent events. It seemed the prince couldn’t leave his chambers without even the guards staring at him. As if everyone was waiting for a bomb to go off. Cristiano nearly crushed the fruit in his hand at the thought of it. His fingers digging at the peel of the orange, proving to be a more difficult task when one had a hand that was made of metal and the other of flesh. “Is my stance on taking my meals alone that obvious?” He didn’t look up. The voice was familiar yet--he couldn’t put a finger on where he had heard it before. “I bribe the kitchen boys, they know where the old hens keep all the sweets.” He popped one of the orange slices into his mouth, and his gaze traveled upward. The familiar silver hair came into view. Someone he had seen before, but she preferred the company of his younger brother. (Though most did). “If you’re looking for a Greek delicacy perhaps you should have brought your own cooks here. The Swiss have a terrible selection.”

“I know. It’s silly for me to worry like there’s ever been a time that he hasn’t come home. I just can’t help it.” She nods her head anyway and hopes that he’s right and that she’s worrying herself for nothing. She’s not the most patient women and she’s always hated waiting, but the feeling intensifies when it comes to situations such as these. Sitting around just waiting to hear whether or not her loved ones made it out of battle safely was something she would never get used to. “Our family isn’t cursed, Cristiano. We’re just living in a time of war and it has made us all resilient.” It was a fact that she has long since accepted, but she doubted anyone could live in the world they did without coming out of that unchanged. Feeling him tense beneath her hands, she curses herself for not considering the fact that he may not welcome physical touch right now and her arms drop down to her sides instead. “You have never just been a soldier. It may be one part of you, but it does not make up all of you. Perhaps it is time to explore the other parts of yourself while you’re learning to use your other hand.” She offered him a small smile. “You don’t have to figure everything out right now, though. You have time, and you have me and everyone else to help you.”
“Well when one waits seventeen years, I suppose they get used to seeing them come and go. Maybe this whole ordeal will lead him to finally marry you. That way someone in our family can find happiness for a change.” Though she had a point, he still felt someone had cursed their family. The war made him bitter. He grew used to watching death and chaos around him, and now peace was a foreign threat. Losing his hand as well had only added to the prince’s bitter outlook on life. He thought of words his mother told him once, now it felt as if she had said them hundreds of years before. You owe the world nothing, therefore it owes nothing to you either. Only a fool believes life is easy. If only he knew then how much of realist she was. “I wouldn’t even know where to start.” A small smile tugged at his lips. He was used to being the fighter, the one who slept with women and drank too much. His parents blamed the war, forcing him to grow up too fast and then leaving him stuck in the eighteen year old shell he left in once he returned. “I could try talking peace with those old lords. But I may feel just as old as them by the time I get out of there. But Rome wasn’t built in a day, was it?”
leslibertins:
❛ Pray, if I fight you with my left, will you stop whining? ❜ To be clear, the misfortune that had befallen the royal was more than understood. In his situation, Alonso would be much the same. Alas, the roles were not reversed, and this pirate rather enjoyed taking the piss where he could. Human nature, let’s call it. Plus, he suspects the other would appreciate at least on person not dancing around him with a fear of hurting his feelings. ❛ Maybe I’ll cut your other hand and make it even. ❜ Comes the quick retort, soon followed by the man falling into his own wide stance. His eyes meet the others, let silence hang for a moment, and he charges for his right shoulder.
“But that would only bring you more joy, wouldn’t it?” A small smirk tugged at the prince’s lips before it was torn away by the flash of a sword. From instinct he raised his hand to block the blow, though it felt awkward--out of place. He was much slower than before, though the other man’s injuries gave him a level playing field. His blade barely clashed against the other, the noise rattling in his ears. “I knew you were slow.” A chuckle escaping his lips. A slight boost in his confidence, waiting to be broken down once again by the awkward shift of his sword. “But not this slow.”

Faline shifted as he sat, turning so she could face him properly and rest her back against the wall, knees drawn up and hugged close to her chest. “Alright, but don’t shut them out. Your family will want to help.” The woman advised, albeit slightly hesitantly. It felt as if she were a gazelle, slowly tiptoeing round the lion that might snap at any moment. She wasn’t sure she knew this man now, because he certainly wasn’t the one from their Italian summer. “I hardly think that’s true. There will still be dozens vying for the chance to be your wife, injury or not. No, you will never be able to fight the same again, but that doesn’t mean you can’t fight just as well. You taught yourself to fight with one hand, now you just need to learn with the other. You never wanted that marriage anyway, now you need not fret over it and use this time to work on learning.” Faline frowned, resting her chin on her knees. “Sebastian will help train with you if you do not want a stranger, I’m sure he will.”
“No one can help, unless they’d like to donate a limb.” Cristiano sighed through gritted teeth. In truth he felt nothing more than a burden. Two of his siblings already nearly brought to the brink of death. He was used to being thrown a harsh deal. Every time things grew easier they somehow became harder again. Just as he accepted the nightmares that plagued him nightly, he now had to deal with a lost limb. Perhaps God would take his first wife or child next. It would only be fit for a fate such as his. “Even if they want me you know I don’t want that. Any woman who marries me will bear the same curse, no doubt.” There was only one woman he would willingly marry--and he even hesitated to ask her such a thing after all the tragedy happening in her family. “I suppose I didn’t want her though, that I can’t lie about. She was too kind and innocent. She’ll fare better with a different man.” His gaze traveled down to the stained bandages, resisting the urge to flinch at the sight of his own wound. “That would be nice.” His words nearly a whisper. “How have you fared since everything?”

‘ and what if i’ve already been eaten alive ? ’
her voice came out hollow and quiet, her gaze still fixating on the ceiling. she knew if she looked in cristiano’s direction, the princess would simply crumble. and she could not have that. not anymore. she had already fallen apart entirely too much the past few days. her fingers gripped her blanket as she exhaled sharply, trying to rid herself of the horrid memory – harsh breath against her face, rough fingers over skin that had belonged to her. karina shook her head. ‘ what then ? ’
“Then you find your way back out.”
A heavy sigh escaped his lips. How many times had he fallen down the hole only to go deeper? Every time he tried to claw his way out something dragged him back down. Whether war or severed hands. But she wasn’t like him. She was sunshine peaking through storm clouds, not the other way around. “If you don’t then they win.” He leaned his torso against the wall, unsure of whether or not she wanted him near her. He could imagine the last thing she desired was close contact. “It took me years to accept the demons that flood my nightmares every night. Don’t be like me.”
Hey guys while I work on replies I figure I’d do one of these. If you’d like a starter from my trash son just like this post, (and specify muse) and I’ll write you a starter.
you have one of the best characters in this rp but he is in a bad ship
l would normally thank you for the compliment but it’s kind of backhanded, isn’t it? I understand that not everyone is going to agree with or like everyone’s ships. We’re all human and we have our opinions. But Catalina and Cristiano are probably one of the best/well developed ships I’ve had in a very long time. I didn’t come to this rp expecting a romantic ship, though I wanted my boy to eventually find someone who made him happy. It wasn’t supposed to be anything more than exes, but the complexity of both characters allowed the ship to grow and develop into what it is now. Jaime and I have spent hours discussing them and their various encounters/future. We’ve put a lot of hard work and time into their relationship, and I don’t think Cristiano would have developed into the character he is now without reuniting with Catalina in Bern. So you don’t have to ‘ship’ them, but I just ask you respect all we’ve put into it. It isn’t a ‘bad’ ship just because you might not agree with it or like it.
Are you going to find a new betrothed?
“I didn’t want the last one. What makes you think I want another? But I suppose eventually my family will find another unfortunate girl to throw at me. And I will enjoy ridding myself of her too.”
Where would your muse(s) holiday & why type of holiday would it be?
Cristiano loves warmth. Anywhere cold just makes him angry and miserable. I think his ideal holiday would be on an island where it is always very warm, and with beautiful beaches. (The guy comes from a place known for its beaches after all so he’s gonna be picky) It would be a place where he could unwind and be lazy and get drunk in the sun.
And the complete opposite of this snowy gif below. See how annoyed he gets in the cold?
What cocktail best fits your muse(s)?
Scotch on the rocks
Scotch one of those drinks that is very strong and can be bitter. Whenever I have a sip of it I get all warm though too like whiskey. I’d say Cristiano fits this drink because he has grown bitter, though he is quite strong of a person in general. But the ice/water dilutes it a bit, which shows there is more to him than the initial taste. He’s also a warm presence for those that he loves.
what would your muse(s) be as a starbucks drink? any specific reason?
Espresso Con Panna
Cristiano has become bitter, but he hasn’t lost his energy. Much like the bitter taste of espresso, and it provides you with energy. But the whipped cream that is added to the espresso takes away some of the bitterness, and Cristiano has a few sweet things left in his life that haven’t turned him into a cruel man.

She doesn’t quite know what to say or do in this situation. She doesn’t particularly like dealing with emotions, but she is capable of providing comfort. She knew how to make her sisters feel better, how to make her friends laugh when they feel like crying. But none of them had lost a hand, something one becomes so used to using in every day life and Delia does not know anything that would help with such a loss. “As I am pleased to see you draw breath.” Her head nods beside his own and she squeezes him tighter for a moment before pulling back, her hands slidding to his upper arms instead. “Yes, I’m sure that Mateus is somewhere alive. Deniz is also around, I know that much. It is just Tomas that I have not heard anything about nor seen.” Worry pulls at her even still, but she pushes it down for now. No news doesn’t mean that he’s dead when there are a million reasons why she has yet to hear word of him. “The fact that you are a survivor is not news to me. But Cristiano, I would not blame you if you feel less than fine right now. You don’t have to lie as if you are at court. It’s just me.”
“I have no doubt Tomas made it out. He always finds a way.” He and his cousin weren’t very different. Although they had been killed during the war in one way, they still remained alive in some sense of the word. Soldiers didn’t die from events such as that after what they endured for many years. Yet he couldn’t say he came out of the massacre unscathed. At least not physically. “Our family may be cursed but we don’t fall easily. I believe my siblings have proven that enough for everyone today.” He didn’t want to relive the pain of losing Raul, yet he almost did with Lina and Mateus. Both alive--just barely. He tensed as her hands clutched his arms, already self conscious of anyone coming near his injury. “I know.” His words suddenly faltered. He never knew how to explain his emotions. It was easier to push them down and pretend to be someone he wasn’t. For many years he grew used to it, the carefree prince who only cares about conquering women and butchering armies. There were worse things to be known for. “I just don’t know how I feel. Everything has changed now. I grew used to being the soldier of the family. I never wanted anything to do with court and all it’s games. But it may take years before I can get my other hand to master a sword the way I used to. I suddenly feel as if I lost my place.”
