In Sickness & In Health
The vibrations against his leg announced an incoming text much quicker than had been anticipated. Fishing the device out of his pocket, he scanned the contents, lips stretching into a thin smile at the curt response glowing across the monitor.
"Not a talkative one, eh?"
That was alright, Seiichi wasn’t particularly prone to spells of idle chatter himself. Besides, what was there to really say at this point anyway - the whole aim of proposing the meeting in the first place was to enable them to discuss the unfolding events face to face.
He was just relieved the unofficial date had been agreed to, though with that moment of consent came an inpour of fluttering vibes in the pit of his stomach. Nerves had to be a completely normal reaction to this type of situation, right?
[Text]To: Shirogane Naoto From: Yukimura Seiichi That's great, take your time I'll be here
True to her word, Naoto was stepping out the door of the apartment before the text was even finished sending. While a double-check of her phone revealed that Seiichi did say she could take her time, her professional and businesslike nature wouldn't allow for her to keep him waiting for too long. It would leave a bad impression, and a cordial relationship with the person one was to call their fiancé was a minimal requirement even if the planned marriage was disagreed with.
As the girl grew ever closer to the Eastern park entrance, the same nervousness that plagued Seiichi began to tighten it's hold on the young detective even if it wasn't apparent. She absolutely refused to let her nerves get the better of her, as they would only be a hindrance, and continued onward until sure enough, a figure came in to view. Was that the man that she was to be wed to? There was only one way to find out.
Steeling her nerves for one last time and coaxing a charming smile on to her features, Naoto approached whist subtly adjusting her hat; no obstruction of eye contact here, no sir. "Pardon me," she began as she promptly took a seat next to the tennis player, "but would you happen to be Yukimura Seiichi?"
Fish out of water || Wakasagihime
Whoever was in charge of arranging the match-ups in this city must have one hell of a sense of humor. Thus far, Naoto had been under the care of an idiotic man that caused her nothing but irritation, a woman who she thought she could come to admire had she not disappeared as suddenly as she had appeared, and now... Someone that requires what she could only assume was in need of a rather large tub filled with water and a wheelchair. Did they require some sort of hydrotherapy?
Whatever it was, Naoto figured she could at least do her new maternal figure a favor by helping out with pushing the wheelchair around the apartment, seeing as she had no sort of experience with any kind of therapy and honestly had no intention of learning. But still, the large tub that occupied the room piqued her interest. Did it have any sort of special modifications? Those were the sort of things that the detective was going to try to find when she approached the large container and peered over the edge.
What she found was a face coming up to greet her instead. Shocked, the young woman took a step back so that she may regain her composure. Wow, what a wonderful way to meet. "I-I... my apologies," she stammered as politely as she could manage. "I wasn't aware that you were home."
"I've noticed a bit of a recurring trend with this makeshift family, but that isn't what's important right now. Aren't I older than my new 'mother'?"
In Sickness & In Health
Stemming from the humble beginnings of a perfectly average life, something of this unconventional degree was not what Seiichi would have predicted for his future. Barely out of middle school and here he was, expected to wed a total stranger [not even of his choosing, just to add salt to the wound] and contribute to the restoration of an entire planet.
To say he’d been rendered moderately disgruntled by the whole affair would be putting things lightly, however sulking wasn’t going to reap anything productive. For all he knew, his new fiancée was a perfectly upstanding person and imaginably just as iffy concerning the news of their sudden engagement as he was.
As both resided in separate buildings for now, he’d taken it upon himself to initiate the first steps by extending invitation to his betrothed. They’d been thrown in this together whether they liked it or not, so why not make the best of it? He’d toyed with the idea of various potential locations for the occasion, eventually settling with the park. Idealistic in the fact it was remote enough to conduct introductions relatively undisturbed, while still being a public area with easy means of escape should things turn sour.
[Text] To: Shirogane Naoto From: Yukimura Seiichi Shirogane san, it's a lovely afternoon out don't you think? I'm seated at the East entrance of the local park, I'd be honoured to have you join me.
[Text] To:Shirogane Naoto From: Yukimura Seiichi Only if you feel up to it, of course.
Now, he waits. The weather was mild enough to still be considered pleasant and he was more than content to occupy the time observing the last resilient blossoms before they wilted into the upcoming autumn months.
Now having been assigned to her second caretaker and fiancé respectively, our dear detective was more than ready to approach her newly forged bonds with these two strangers the same way she had done with the last; disinterest in the roles that had been placed upon them. If they wanted to be close, it would take plenty of time, trust, and mutual respect. She would have it no other way.
Promptly disembarking that train of thought, Naoto instead decided to focus on arranging her things. Moving from place to place so frequently was a bit stressful, but there was nothing she could really do about it, could she? It was getting to the point that she was contemplating keeping the cardboard boxes that had been used to transport her handful of belongings from the two prior apartments.
It didn't take too much time for her to get situated, thankfully. Moments where she allowed herself to rest were rare, but the apartment was fairly quiet and the time seemed just right to enjoy a cup of coffee and re-read one of her favorite novels. She was just about to head in to the small kitchen when her phone buzzed with a notification. That was unusual. Not a moment is spared to mourn the loss of her chance at relaxation before she pulls the device from her pocket to see what she had been contacted about.
Yukimura Seiichi was a stranger to her, but the name still held a great significance. This was the man that the leaders of this post-apocalyptic had set her up to be wed to. Mildly impressed with the fact that he was able to get her personal phone number, Naoto contemplated the situation that could possibly play out for the two of them. Seiichi had clearly thought ahead when it came to the location, that much was for certain the more she thought on it.
With a swipe of her thumb across the screen of her phone, Naoto made her decision.
[TXT]
To: YUKIMURA, SEIICHI
From: SHIROGANE, NAOTO
I WILL HEAD OUT ASAP
.
Naoto had fallen in to a bit of a routine in which she would buy a newspaper daily; if only to browse the news to keep up on current events, check out the help wanted ads in case someone needed a detective-for-hire, and solve the occasional crossword puzzle.
Today's outing went a bit differently.
The racks lining the checkout line always held magazines; more often than not with various idols from the city gracing the covers. While they normally didn't interest her, one caught her eye. Lustrous brunette pigtails and an infectiously cheerful expression that was all too familiar, topped off with a headline that cleared away all doubt.
Risette makes her Iunctum debut!
Naoto lifted the magazine in slight disbelief as a name dropped from her lips.
"Kujikawa-san...?"
petty thievery; roxas and naoto
Roxas’ desire to get out of the house, in contrast, usually amounted to the fact that being at home…was a total bore. There wasn’t much to do alone in a typically empty house, with both members of his ‘family’ often out doing their own thing. Not that Roxas particularily objected to this - both his husband and ‘son’ were rather…intimidating, in some aspects.
Thankfully, dealing with them wasn’t exactly too difficult. They didn’t seem to be around very often, probably too busy doing who-knows-what…picking on innocents, perhaps? Not his business.
Today was one of those days. Nobody was home, home was boring, boring meant he was outta there. The heart of downtown Iunctum was where he found himself, browsing idly through stores without giving much thought to what he was looking at. Sometimes it was nice to just mindlessly take things in, without the additional worry of that nasty little thing known as “spending money”.
His mindless browsing was perhaps a tad too mindless. Racks of cheap jewellery and knickknacks of all kinds spread before him were uninteresting…for the most part. A small, silver key pendant on a chain caught his eye, thoughts wandering to past memories. It slid off the rack, seconds later finding itself in the teens pocket, before he continued browsing the store.
It didn’t take long for Roxas’ feet to move towards the exit, pendant laying long forgotten within his sweater pocket. Nearly bumping into a sudden obstacle quickly pulled him out of his thoughts.
“Woah-!" Coming to an abrupt halt, the teen took a step back, "Sorry, didn’t see you there, haha.”
It took him a second to realize the person was deliberately blocking him off. Raised brows quickly dropped into a frown at the accusation, head tilting in confusion.
“I think you got the wrong guy," he started, reaching into his pocket, "I’m no thie-”
Clink.
Something silver fell out of his pocket…something definitely not his.
Oh. Eyes widen, starts sweating. Oops.
“…I swear it wasn’t on purpose!”
Expression never drifting away once from stern professionalism, the girl gingerly picked up the fallen charm and held it in her open hand so that they may both see it clearly. It was just a feeling, but the little key seemed to oddly fit the blond before her. The possible reasons for that were many and varied; perhaps it was simply because the imagery fit well with the fashion of... wherever he was from; it was impossible not to note that he looked much like one would expect a video game character would, which was slowly becoming the norm around these parts.
It didn't matter. Slender fingers gently curled themselves around the small bit of metal while Naoto studied the boy's expression. He was being truly genuine or was one hell of a liar; based on his earlier actions, the odds were in favor of the former. "I know," she stated coolly. The last thing that the young detective really needed was for Roxas to start making a scene in plain view over a crime he didn't exactly commit. "You aren't in trouble, technically no laws have been broken as you haven't left ."
Her serious demeanor broke away in to a small smile; her offering to attempt to aide the other in calming down. He really didn't do anything wrong and even if he hadn't been stopped, this fellow seemed like the kind of guy who would even return the little trinket and apologize if it meant he wasn't going to be charged with shoplifting. Too bad that isn't how things worked in most cases.
"If it still interests you, it isn't too late to make a purchase," she continued while extending her hand once more, this time to offer the gleaming pendant back to him instead of blocking off the exit. Needless to say, stopping accidental petty thievery was a big step away from what being a detective usually entailed; solving murders and conducting thorough investigations were more her forte.
"Of course, you could always just put it back on the rack if you don't want to." Her smile didn't budge; Naoto had defaulted in to the more 'princely' mannerisms that had helped her coax information from others countless times. It truly was a perfect disguise from the somewhat awkward young woman that she truly was when it came to social interaction.
"So then, sir, what will you do?"
Now Naoto can deal with a lot of things; being bounced from apartment to apartment, being told that she was now engaged to someone else, solving murders and even being thrown in to televisions.
What she is having a hard time with is the fact that her new housemate has a tail where a human's legs would be.
白鐘 直斗
dude.. my sword is NEVER a team player dang..
Finding himself in McDonald’s was a thought, of course, Shosetsu was one to watch his calories. The only reason why the other was here was to get something small, like a fry of course and maybe just a glass of water. He wasn’t too picky hence being who he was, there wasn’t much that could catch his attention. The gaze he always held on his person was nothing more than him looking through whoever, to be honest, the male just did not care. Other than that, once he had gotten to the counter to order what he wanted,
”.. A small fry and a burger off the dollar menu.” Aquamarine would look off to the side once asking, as if he didn’t want to make any eye contact. It was truly weird to be in a place like this, having to deal with others. Though, his Buddy, Durendal, the sword at his side believed the other ate way too light.
「 A large order of french fries along with the cheeseburger combo without the lettuce, my knight dislikes such shrubbery, the new chicken club sandwich as well as the chicken nuggets with sweet and sour sauce. Beverage being water, tea and coffee. All on us.」
At the sound of that, the cashier had written it all down, "So all this to go or are you eating in with your friend. Wait, is there anything else you’d want?" Pointing at someone who was standing right next to Shosetsu, the knight’s gaze looked over to the side, wondering who the other was speaking to. Clearly it was his Buddy, the sword, speaking, not whoever this scrub was beside him.
"I’m waiting for you to say, no." Words stated at the other beside him, waiting for them to dismiss the whole order since they weren’t the one to have said it.
Suspicious individuals always drew attention from the ever watching eyes of the law; the young man that Naoto had been tailing for the past minute was no exception. His attire seemed to be fashioned after the knights of old, much like how her own was greatly influenced by detectives in famous novella. Perhaps in some way their situations were similar. As they said, dress not for the job you have but for the job that you want to have - even if it just so happened that the girl already achieved her desired occupation.
The donned pauldrons and breastplate were eye-catching in their own right, but what had prompted the young woman's surveillance was the sword that the other youth wielded. All she needed was to observe him long enough to get a good judge of his character; enough to safely make the assumption that he wouldn't not draw his blade on an innocent. Supervision isn't always easy, of course, as it was simple enough to break one's line of sight by ducking in to a building such as the silver-haired had done just now.
Thankfully lunchtime's rush was far from settling in, leaving the establishment effectively empty for the time being, save for a handful of employees. Allowing a few seconds of delay as to make it seem as thought the McDonalds was being contemplated as her choice as well, the dutiful detective followed in after Shosetsu and entered the line behind him. It wouldn't exactly hurt to get something for herself while she was here.
What came next was nothing less of a surprise; two distinct voices placing orders, one obviously belonging to the knight beside her and the other's source having to have come from close to his persons. But aside from the two of them and the clerk, there was nobody that could have spoken. It was her own unprofessional curiosity that drove her now as she brought her gaze from the other to the clerk working the counter and tilted the brim of her hat upwards as to provide better eye contact.
"A medium coffee, please, but make it a separate order. I intend to pay for myself." It would do no good to take advantage of the other after all, even if he was a suspect in her eyes at the moment. With her order placed, silvery eyes darted back over to the taller form that stood at her side. "Large orders like that take a bit of time to prepare. Would you mind a bit of company until then? There are a few questions I would like to ask you."
And just like that, Bishamon was gone. That left Naoto and Dlanor with Dandy, and there was no way that she felt comfortable leaving the younger alone with that hooligan.
Looks like someone's going to be home more often.

”Ahh— Your hat!?” —-A hand comes reaching over the other from no where, but he notes the sudden gust of wind and the other adjusting it in an improptu moment. Causing a brief moment where the hat seems to just fly out of the strangers hand, as well as out of his own grasp. Which causes him to pause besides the stranger, watching as it plops itself into the branches of a tree. ”Oh man, good thing it didn’t fly further away! You want” me to get it for you?”
A pleasant day like any other, the heat of Summer gradually making way for the inevitable chill brought by Fall and Winter, shepherded in by winds that blew even now. While others would find this weather perfect for curling up in their homes with a cup of tea and a lengthy novel, Naoto would be having none of that; opting to go distribute flyers advertising her investigative services.
It took less than a second; a moment to ensure that neither paper or hat was of place was all that was needed for a passing burst of wind to snatch the blue cap out of her hand - and out of the reach of a nearby stranger as well.
Miss Fortune must've been smiling down on her for not only were the papers that were now held close to her breast spared from being scattered through the street, but the benevolent man who had put his best foot forward just moments before was offering his assistance in a situation that would surely do naught but ridicule the young detective if she were to attempt to handle it on her own.
"If you could please? I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to reach it mysef."
