I decided to task myself with designing some sort of image to be projected onto a wall during my sister’s upcoming Halloween party this Saturday and I came up with this.

On the left is the work in progress image while on the right is the finished product.

Digital Art I project in Illustrator. Basically as this is a “beginner’s” course in digital art my professor is teaching the Adobe programs in a “This is a file. This is how to make a new page. This is the pen tool.” kind of approach, which is extremely annoying to me and the other two VCD students in the class. 

The project so far is to create a character and do something with it (honestly I don’t know. So many people are still creating their characters so I have no idea exactly what the project is at this point). 

My original design is the green monster with the black strokes, created with no background. To make it more interesting I decided to duplicate the character two more times and mix up the colors with a background.

Later this past evening I created another version of the monster with no stroke and a little more detailed, which I actually like a whole lot more. I may try to integrate this idea into the three. Also his name is Gerald (name credit goes to my fiancée who thought he should have a name.)

This past week has been so stressful… my summer course professor suddenly fell ill, and the day after the school promised that they would find a replacement, they ended up cancelling all the classes he had been teaching. On top of that, I had to drive in on my day off to deal with administrative issues. Thankfully, everything is now resolved and I got into a replacement course, but the school did such a terrible job at dealing with the issue and a lot of people were pretty screwed over. On the bright side…. kitty cuddles are really great for destressing 💙
