direheterosisâ:
She was so sure there had been something on the air she recognised, a familiar scent that had brought both a sense of nostalgia and comfort at once. But amongst the crowd and warring aromas it had become too difficult to pick out the source⊠Perhaps she should curse her less than perfect eyesight, perhaps she had merely picked up a blend of things entirely unrelated that had reminded her of something, someone.
With a soft sigh the crossbreed had turned to continue on with her errands. Until she heard a voice that froze her in her tracks. Her eyes widened immediately, and she was almost afraid to turn around. But more scared was she that if she waited too long the source would have vanished all over again.Â
âOhâŠâ
There really was no mistaking that armour, and the sight filled her with a warm rush instantly. The shock at least gave her a few moments extra to process his words, and she restrained herself from rushing down to his level. She felt her eyes watering.Â
âAha⊠Y-yes, indeed we have⊠Haha, itâs- Iâm sorry- Do not-⊠Do not be ashamedâŠâ She wiped at one of her eyes. âThou art not mistaken, SiegmeyerâŠâ Perhaps saying his name would help, perhaps saying her name would help. But what if it didnât? That, she couldnât consider. She lowered herself onto her knees that they might be a little more level.Â
âMine name is Priscilla⊠I understand how time can be a strange thing, but⊠It is outstanding to see thee again.âÂ
Oh dear... So his intuition had been correct all along. Heâs not sure whether he should be glad or worried. Clearly, heâd caused some minor distress, if that look in her eyes had anything to say about it. For the moment, he could really only find himself stammering and shuffling nervously, as though a wave of guilt had tried to push him over with every little exhale.
Think... Just think... Those memories have to be in there somewhere...
â P... Priscilla... The name does ring a few bells, ah-hah. â Not many. Not as many as heâd hoped.Â
â Pray tell... It wasnât here that we met, was it? I donât... Quite recognize the place, and yet it feels all so familiar. As though Iâve been here before. Perhaps itâs all these jitters that are making my brain all fuzzy. Just another one of those silly little things that occur when you get older, I suppose. No matter... Itâs quite a pleasure to meet a friendly face again. Iâm certain once Iâve grown accustomed to the place, all those wondrous memories will come flooding back in again, my dear! â
Having her kneel makes this conversation far easier. Thereâs no need to go straining his neck, and getting the chance to shuffle closer and rest a hand gently against her knee for support made this conversation a little less awkward.
â I do hope I did not cause you any trouble. I hadnât the intentions to upset you, really. Please, if there is anything I can do to cheer you up, donât hesitate to speak. I know things are a little weird at the moment, but I trust that overtime it will all go back to normal between you and I! â
