TOO COZY
Self Pep-Talk
Stand in the shower. Let the water run over your skin. Breathe in. Close your eyes. Breathe out. Tell yourself it’s okay. Remember all of the people you have let go and remember that you let them go for a reason. Some things weren’t meant to be. And you are okay now.
Blagaj, Bosnia (by Alen Robovic)
Damn near all relationship problems could be solved via communication. Got a problem? Talk to your partner about it. Your partner refuses to speak about the problem and doesn’t want to discuss things that bother you? They don’t care. You now have enough information to solve your problem.
People avoid clear and concise communication at times because it then removes doubt from their mind. You can’t say “you didn’t know” if y’all communicated and they made it clear that your problems aren’t a priority. The facade crumbles the moment clear and concise communication becomes the standard, whether it be because communication solves the issue, or whether it be communication exposing the issue.
Avoiding talking about your feelings or your worries to your partner means that you’re painfully aware that they don’t value your feelings (or you’ve got your own insecurities to decipher). It’s time we stop lying to ourselves, and it’s time we stopped settling for less.
