What plane is this and what do those wingtips do?

They are stall tips. They reduce the speed at which your aircraft stalls at. Making it more STOL capable. And its a piper tripacer configured to tail wheel

An Me-323 Gigant in the process of getting shot down into the Mediterranean.  I’ve read two conflicting articles about this photo, one says its getting shot down by a British Beaufighter and the other says by an American B-26.

Either way the Me-323 was a gigantic transport plane flown by the Luftwaffe, originally designed as a glider to carry airborne infantry and material for the planned invasion of Great Britain.

Fairchild XC-120 Packplane.  

Designed off the frame of its successful C-119 Boxcar, Fairchild developed the idea of having removable cargo pods instead of an internal storage space.  The aircraft flew in the early 1950′s but the idea was eventually scrapped.
