My name's Starflare! I used to live in an old base out in the Sahara with my moma, but then Blackguard found me and took me in, and has been taking care of me ever since.
ÂŤâŚYeah, I get it.Âť Blackguard sighs heavily, tiredly. She had been so tense for so long that her frame felt like it was about to fall apart at any given moment. Truth be told, she wasnât sure she would mind if it did. Maybe then she could finally catch a break.
ÂŤHeâll be fine though. I promise. No one is gonna take him and heâs not gonna disappear on us again. I wonât let it happen.Âť
+{ Okay. Okay. }- Her voice cracks slightly as she says this.Â
+{ Itâs just... after all thatâs happened... Youâd think the world would give you a break. That it would leave you alone after all this terrible stuff, instead of throwing more awful things at you and everyone you care about. }-
A sigh escapes her. +{ I... I guess Iâm in disbelief over it. But at the same time I feel like itâs too good to be true. Like I canât trust it. But... But I guess we just gotta make sure that weâre together and that we donât lose each other again. }-
Another sigh escapes her, more tired-sounding than before, and she goes quiet.
She hums thoughtfully. ÂŤIâm sure heâll wake up soon. Just give him time.
ÂŤRigel isnât going anywhere either, so you take all the time you need okay? Iâm sure heâll still wanna visit you whenever youâre ready.Âť
+{ I hope so. Itâs been so long. }-
She is silent for a moment, her words feeling stuck in her throat. +{ I want to see him as soon possible. I just-- I donât know how to describe this but after all that happened to Rigel, to us, I feel like I have to see him. As.. Like if I donât I might not ever seen him again. }-
Another pause. +{ I-- If... If that makes sense. }-
At this point, she was practically living in her motherâs medical room. Almost all of the seekerlingâs worldly possessions lay on one of the medical trolleys, thin sheets of metal take up most of the space of on the top-most shelf of the trolley, little shapes of earth animals and flowers lay scattered on the rest of the surface. Some were crushed into little balls of metal, others half-finished and also crumpled.Â
Things havenât been so well for her these past few days. For anyone, really.
Still, it didnât stop her from lashing out, usually in her temporary quarters. She felt so helpless, so out of control of everything. Sometimes sheâd go on for hours crying and screaming, slamming her fists into the dense metal wall, to the point where she wasnât able to open one of her hands all the way. Only then did she finally stop.
She still felt awful. Her hands ached from beating up the wall, but she was still able to bring herself to her motherâs medical room.
And here she was. Speaking to the sleeping form of her carrier, hoping, desperately hoping, that he could hear her. That maybe now he could awake and things would be all right.Â
But, deep down, Starflare knew that wasnât the case. Even if she elected to ignore it, it rang true in her spark, always coming up at the worst moments.
For now, though, she will try her best to quash down these anxiety-inducing thoughts, trying her best to concentrate on the rose she was making of colored aluminum, shining a pale pink color under the bright medical lights that cast down over her carrierâs body.
âRigel... Rigel was taken away.â Starflare said aloud. âIt happened after I left to see you.â
Silence. Starflare continues to fold.
âI.. I feel awful about it, moma. I canât do anything about it.â She stops, hands shaking. âI know Ark said that we had people helping us, but I feel like itâs not fair. Itâs not fair that all these terrible things keep happening to all of us. To Blackguard and Crossfire and Rigel and Ark and me.â
She falls quiet after that, keeping herself from going into a tizzy again. It was useless to get into hysterics again.Â
For now, all she could do was wait. Wait and see if there was any more news about Rigel.
Starflareâs indignance stung. Yet despite the urge to answer it with some of his own, Arkaitimus kept his burning stare locked on his twitching claws, refusing to look the distraught younglingâs way. His spark churned in itâs chamber, aggravated by the torrent of emotions flooding and striking against his field. It pained him to listen and do nothing to soothe his friend. However the prince did just that; remaining firmly rooted to his chair and âcalmlyâ cycling through his vents as Starflare wailed.
Most would call him cruel for what he was doing [and if the look his sentry was giving him from the other side of the room was anything to go by, that trend would no doubt continue]. But, Arkaitimus knew his friend could be.. volatile when she got emotional. And the last thing she, or rather any, of them needed was for this incident to escalate into something bigger then need be.
Not to mention the prince himself wasnât so sure heâd be able to keep his composure for long once he had her in his immediate vicinity.

She doesnât see him at first, mainly because of all the tears clouding her vision. Another was that she was so self-absorbed into her hysteria that she felt that nothing was really real. It couldnât be. Not after all that has happened. It felt as if the universe had betrayed her, her family, and her friends.
Not fair.
She goes on and on, weeping like a small sparkling that had lost one of their parents, shivering with anguish.Â
When her friend spoke to her, she gained a sense of clarity. She still couldnât see very well due to her tears, but she certainly still hear him. Arkâs voice helped her become grounded, trying her best to even her âbreathing.â
Soon enough, she had regained some of her composure, evenly cycling cool air through her warm systems, stressed by her emotions and crying. It would still take a while longer, but what mattered was that she was calming down now, and could more easily hear what her friend was saying.
The seekerling is quiet for a moment, wiping away tears that still fell down her face and neck. Softly, she utters out a me too, voice quiet and roughened by all her crying.
Then, finally, she can see her friend. His image is still blurred by the remaining tears that well at the corners of her optics, but she knows thatâs him.
Once she was certain that it was indeed Ark, she almost immediately closes the space between them, trying her best to wrap her arms around the larger mecha. She gripped him tightly, not even realizing how touch-starved she had been for a while.
âHow could this have happened?â She asked into his chassis. âWhy did it happen, Ark? And so soon after I left... I.. I couldâve...â
Starflare then lets out another soft cry, holding her friend as tightly as she could. Almost as if she was afraid that sheâd lose him if she didnât keep her grip on the other. If only she hadnât left. If only she stayed a little bit longer. If-- If--
She lets out a shaky vent, whole frame rattling as she did so. No. Nothing would have changed had she been there. If anything she might have gotten hurt like the others, or that sheâd be stuck there with Rigel. Wherever he was.
Another sigh. What happened, happened. People that Blackguard and the otherâs know are there to help her friend, help Blackguard, however they can.
At least it was something, and that comforted the seekerling, if only a little bit.
For now, though, she will be here, holding her friend like her life depends on it.
Despite knowing the question was coming, Arkaitimusâ talons still tighten against his desk, adding another set of scratches to the worn, polished top. He didnât have to listen to Blackguardâs broadcast to know what was going on. He had known about the tragedy that had befallen his dear rotormech and Rigel long before she decided to tell everyone else. But Starflare on the other hand⌠
He considers the seekerling for a moment, watching her out of the corner of his optic before turning his gaze back to the stack of datapads in front of him.
ââŚ. I did,â | he replies flatly. | âI take it you did as well?â
She is silent for a long time, not only because she wasnât sure what to say, but also because more coolant was welling at the corners of her optics, threatening to fall down her facia once again. Her grip on the door frame beside her tightens, blunt fingers lightly scratching the metal.
She was angry. Mostly at herself, but some of that anger was directed at her friend as well, albeit a small amount.
âDid.. did it really happen that long ago?â She asks him with a shaky voice. âI... I left for New Darkmount just before that... Ark...â
As she tries to cycle air through her systems in an attempt to calm herself, Starflare can already feel the tears falling down her face again. She tries to wipe away the tears with her free servo, breathing shakily as she did so.
âWho-- who could want to take him away? Why would anyone want to take Rigel away from Blackguard? From us?â She cries quietly, slowly getting hysteric. âThatâs not-- thatâs not fair! Itâs not fucking fair, Ark!â
She repeats the last words several times before they dissolve into weeps and whimpers, whole frame shaking in anger and grief.Â
She had been ignoring her messages for a little while, save for Impactâs messages to her.
But when she hears the all-call from Blackguard, Starflare loses her grip on the datapad, the tablet clattering to the floor of her guest room.
Was it true? Was it really true?
She could feel coolant tears prick at the edges of her optics, making her vision slightly blurry as she attempted to wipe them away. No. It wasnât true. It couldnât be! Especially after all they went through with Tarn.
If only sheâd known sooner, then she wouldâve gone back to the Nemesis, to Crossfire to see Blackguard in this time of unfortunate events.
But she canât. Not now. Not yet. She still needed to be there for her carrier, in case something happened or he woke up.
âIâm so... sorry, Blackguard.â She wept quietly, still trying to wipe away the tears streaming down her facia. âIâm-- Iâm sorry...â
Still sobbing quietly, she sat onto the berth, her pedes dangling slightly above the floor. Soon enough, Starflare pushed herself into the corner, forcing her wings to spread out and make her back ache.
She didnât care though, it helped her ground herself a little.
But it would be a long, long while before she would be ready to talk to anyone.
Aw, cool! Whyâs your carrier at your friendâs place? Wouldnât it be your friend at your carrierâs place? 3:o
And roses! They can come in different colors like red and white, so technically they have no real set color!
He got hurt real bad. :c But heâs doing better thanks to my friend! Heâs been there for a while and I havenât had a chance to see him until fairly recently. Last time I made him an origami bouquet of flowers. I hope heâll like them. :0c
