This is my entry into the fanworks project Crystal Tokyo Met Gala. The theme for the gala is Pearls and Diamonds. When i first saw the post my favorite idea was having Michiru represent the pearls and Haruka the diamonds. I wanted Michiru's dress to have a classical greek/roman vibe but with bright beachy colors and dripping in pearls. Her hair in a curly roman up do to match. Harukas tux dress is very linear and sharp like the cuts on a diamond. I paired her dress with a diamond embellished body suit under it, adding a sheer cape to match. Hope everyone enjoys!

Crystal Tokyo Met Gala - Hotaru Tomoe

@crystaltokyometgala is a little fandom project where everyone is encourage to create “high fashion” looks for a Sailor Moon character under the guise of it being for the annual Crystal Tokyo Met Gala. 2021 theme is Dreams and Eternity.

Since I started this project, I’m determined to draw at least all main characters in a look to match the theme.

Hotaru is the last in the series and I went with the idea of space– of stars and infinite galaxies and the eternity tied to them. I’ve always associated Hotaru with space, maybe because of the Infinity arc and her being the destroyer of worlds tucked away in zero space waiting to be summoned. A legend of destruction whispered on death beds.

Anyhoo, I gave my girl a puffy gown with several layers of sheer tulle with a golden lace boarder and star glitter everywhere to go with her starburst crown.

@crystaltokyometgala is a little fandom project where everyone is encourage to create “high fashion” looks for a Sailor Moon character under the guise of it being for the annual Crystal Tokyo Met Gala. 2021 theme is Dreams and Eternity.

Since I started this project, I’m determined to draw at least all main characters in a look to match the theme.

I’ve had Venetian masks and carnival outfits in my drafts forever thinking one day I was going to draw Minako in them, and today is that day! Like Usagi I went with the outfit where it all started, Sailor V. Sailor V will have an eternal place within the series as well as its legacy for being the start of the series publication.

Participation Clarification

Hi all!

Happy Holidays! We’re a week away from the end of the year and I’m preparing to post the new theme for 2022! That said, you’re still welcome and encouraged to create for the 2021 theme, if you create something for Dreams and Eternity in 2022 please be sure to note your post so I can collect it accordingly here.

BUT, I do want to clarify that in order to be collected and archived on this tumblr the works need to be specifically created for this project.

I am super happy at everyone participating and supporting, and seeing how their previous works fit the theme! However my hope with this tumblr is to collect fanworks that were specifically made for this project’s themes and therefore those are the posts that I will be archiving here. You all are absolutely welcome to repost/reblog your previous works and discuss how they fit the current theme or have others use them as inspiration, but they will not be collected on this tumblr.

I’m very sorry for the trouble and not thinking to talk about this sooner. If there are any questions or concerns, please let me know! My primary goal is for everyone to have as much fun with this project and celebrate fashion with Sailor Moon. ♥

Since I started this project, I’m determined to draw at least all main characters in a look to match the theme.

It’s probably cheating to draw Setsuna in the same Chanel dress from the art books, but it’s such a well known and loved look on her, and is more on theme and elegant than the other ideas I had for her. I did give it the sexy leg slit because after all these years, why not?
