Everett grinned again,Ā āYou donāt have to thank me. I would have given it to you even if you hadnāt asked. You didnāt do anything wrong,ā He moved a little bit closer. There was barely any space between them now but he was lingering for a moment, waiting for her to say it was all okay. He knew what her answer would be but he still waited. He couldnāt be too forward. He didnāt want to be. Sleeping together while drunk was not how he wanted this to start so he was gonna do it right from now on.
Nodding, Everett whispered,Ā āOkay,ā And with that, he closed the gap. He just pressed his lips against hers at first. Then he started moving them slowly and lovingly. He couldnāt help but smile into the kiss. This was how it was meant to start.
āPerhaps you think soā but I feel like I definitely did something wrong. I slept with you even though I was a married woman, and you had no idea! Iām so sorry, Ev. I really am,ā she sighed, looking down at the hands in her lap. Beverly felt a crushing wave of guilt all over again just thinking about it. She mentally promised herself sheād never do anything like that ever again.
Beverlyās eyes fluttered to a close just when his lips pressed against hers. Her shoulders dropped comfortably as she suddenly felt as if a giant weight had been taken off them. She could now relax. She could now be in the moment with Everett. And there, as they sat on her couch with his lips pressed against hers and her fingers crawling to tangled into his hair, Beverly knew this was how things shouldāve begun.
