could she have run off on her own ?? yes. could she have been helped or worse, taken ?? yes. in times like these, thalassa and her soon-to-be children could easily be used as pawns in a bigger game. “she’s impulsive. headstrong as hell.” cooper murmurs, weary sigh leaving him. “but I don’t know…I would’ve thought she’d at least leave a note. or write to say she’s okay.”
on any other situation, he would’ve probably chuckled at cooper’s description of thalassa. although the werewolf didn’t know too much about the merprincess, he knew enough to know that was true. “the other guards don’t know either?” he knows his friend is most likely beating himself up over thalassa’s disappearance but he doesn’t know how to help, either. it’s infuriating. “she’ll show up, i’m sure.”
he doesn't want to burden enzo with this - especially given everything that is going on at the moment. kat, the pack, the crumbling accords and threats of war. the last thing his friend needs is to hear him whining about a lost princess. but thalassa, for her faults, was a good person. he wouldn't be able to let this go. "no, we've got nothing." he groans, sliding into a bar stool. "just keep your ear to the ground yeah ?? you hear anything, even if it seems bullshit, you let me know."
for a blinding, terrifying second, ralph had been within the path of a pickup truck that had no interest in stopping. thankfully, the animal was quick on his feet and skittered onto the sidewalk at the last minute. recovered from the panic, cooper crouches by his side, pulling his faithful friend close and murmuring relieved encouragement. “that was a close call, buddy.”
He was passing by when he saw the pickup truck approaching the dog. His first reaction was to start running in the animal’s direction, trying to avoid the worst to happen. The dog gadly was faster, “The crazy way people drive here doesnt surprise me anymore. Is your friend okay?” Eaton asked the man
grateful smile lines his features as he glances up at the man beside him. though it had been unnecessary he appreciates the hurried attempt to get ralph out of harm's way. "he'll be fine...it'll keep him on his toes-" coop snorts, ruffling the fur between ralph's ears. "thanks though." the dog sniffs the stranger curiously and, as if in agreement, licks at his hand.

she has a face full of innocence but cooper was raised in a world that taught him to ignore that. even so, he finds himself meeting her urging expression with a reluctant nod. “where you trying to get to ??” coop asks, arms folded loosely across his chest.
serena raised her eyebrows at the reluctant nod, easily able to see the calculating look on his face. that made her lips form into an even sweeter smile as she looked around in thought, immediately holding up an index finger excitedly as soon as she got an idea. “ the infamous hunter’s moon ! ” she said, pleased with her own idea. “ i was simply looking for where to start, and from what i heard, it has such popularity among you residents. ”
the request is an easy one - he was heading there himself. still, he finds he is disconcerted by her effervescence and saccharine smile. "two blocks this way-" he cants his head in the direction of the bar. "though you might be better off in the laveau's place...seems like it'd be more your speed."

darcy had been walking down the street, her mind seemingly on her phone but just as she looked up she saw it. the dog almost getting into the path of the pickup truck as it began to barrel down the road. a few seconds later and it would have been been run over. she stops close by, watching the dog and its owner. “too close. should probably keep him on a leash at least for a bit, people in los angeles can’t drive.”
his focus is on ralph, so he scarcely notices the redhead approach. it's only when she speaks that he realises how near she is. glancing up, he gives a small shrug in response. "he doesn't have a leash. he knows to stay by my side..." which meant that something had distracted him. his gaze travels from the girl back to the road. "what's that...??" there's a battered shape on the asphalt, from where he kneels it looks like a toy car.
ctticvs:
lazy grin stretches across his lips as the young wolf speaks, head shaking in bemused despair. “if you’re expecting me to take the hit for you, you’re looking in the wrong place.” he teases. “some of us don’t have super healing.”
“super healing is nice but a punch is a punch, and it’s gonna hurt.” his brows furrowed for a moment before the grin was back in its place on the werewolf’s features. “i doubt that would happen, i mean. it’s been years and i’m still all in one piece, so i bet it’s all a bluff.”
"maybe he's been playing the long game, waiting till you're complacent." cooper raises his brows, taunting smile on his lips. "besides, since when did you get so cocky ?? I distinctly remember a shit scared little ginger kid thinking that idiot was the big bad wolf."

Her eyes immediately ran to the image of the dog as she tried to not let out a small squeal. Kai always seem to turn into a child when seeing the image of a tiny canine or just any canine in general. ‘May I pet your dog?’, she questioned, completely oblivious to the situation beforehand.
the excitement on the girl's expression is a reaction he's used to around ralph. the dog is bigger than most, being half wolf, and extraordinarily furry...plus he's an attention seeker. but after the close call, the banshee figures he could use a little spoiling. "go crazy-" coop shrugs, glancing up at her. "but if you've got any food on you, he will find it and eat it."
ctticvs:
“you mean the wolf kid ??” coop raises a brow, eyeing the girl curiously. “best guess is hunter’s moon.”
“ h-hunter’s … “
the mermaid shrinks into herself , head ducked low as she wraps her arms around her middle. the association she had with the word was not a god one.
“ c-could you get him for me ? “
the way she stumbles over the word captures his attention and he instantly softens. "it's kind of ironic." coop clarifies. "the place is run by and full of werewolves. no hunters in sight." tugging his phone from his back pocket, he offers her a reassuring smile. "but I can text him and ask him to meet you at greene's or something ??"
ctticvs:

“she’s just fucking gone. no calls, no texts, not even a fucking note.” the banshee snaps, slamming his fists on the counter top. “how am i supposed to do my job - protect her and the babies - if she just disappears ??”
“are we sure she disappeared on her own?” enzo asks, eyeing his friend tentatively. he’s familiar with the princess, but not to that extent, and given everything that was happening… he had to ask. “i don’t wanna unsettle you any more but it’s something to think about. is it like her to take off like this?”
could she have run off on her own ?? yes. could she have been helped or worse, taken ?? yes. in times like these, thalassa and her soon-to-be children could easily be used as pawns in a bigger game. pup sits down in front of them without warning or explanation, letting the other people on the sidewalk filter around them. the young wolf sniffs at the two of them, expression curious before he cautiously extends a hand to try and stroke ralph.
“ p-puppy “
if there is anyone's judgment that cooper trusts, it's ralph. the wolf in him, he's certain, has a better sense of people's intentions. so when his dog responds to the extended hand with a low, playful growl and lifts his front paws to lean against the boy's chest, tongue making a slobbering mess of his features - cooper knows two things. one; the boy is a wolf. ralph reserves that particular noise for those he knows can actually play with him. two; he is not a threat. not that cooper would ever have expected that from the cautious way he carries himself. "ralph, get down-" the banshee rolls his eyes despairingly, tugging at the scruff of his neck. "think you've made a friend, kid."
ctticvs:
“don’t remind me.” it was bad enough that she was missing, let alone that everyone and their dog seemed to know about it. just another way he had failed lately.
“ why not ? “ she challenges. “ a friend of yours ? “
"something like that." cooper says brusquely. "what's it to you anyway ??"

the grin on the werewolf’s face only widened, head tilted down for a moment as he perched on a stool. before he turned took at cooper. “did you see the look on his face?” he held back a laugh as he kept speaking. “one of those days he really is going to deck me.” @ctticvs

“i’ve seen better days.” altair muttered with a chuckle, cleaning off the last of the blood he had on his face. or at least that’s what he thought he did “i could use a clean shirt, though. you don’t happen to have any spare ones, do you?”
“looks like it-” coop nods, surveying the crimson that splatters the man’s skin and clothes. he dithers for a moment before tugging off the plaid over-shirt he’s wearing, it’s not too cold out so the t-shirt underneath will be fine till he gets home. “here.” the banshee offers it with a wry grin. “less conspicuous.”

he hears the door from the back-room but he's still fighting with a crate of beer for restocking. "be with you in a sec-" coop bellows, finally loosening it off the shelf to carry out to the front. agreeing to cover the bar for enzo wasn't exactly his favorite job but since he had some time on his hands with thally's disappearance, he couldn't really say no. lugging the box through, he steps out into the space behind the bar, dark eyes focusing on the new arrival. and promptly, the crate slips from his grip, landing with the sound of shattering glass onto the floor.
