as an adult, i really don't think these people (i'm very certain none of these people are 21+, or began co-owning / moderating / helping the server at a younger age) should have ever been in charge of such a giant community like CC on a public platform like discord. maybe it's just because i'd love to think my frontal lobe is developed and i've never spent a lot of time in a community this big when i was younger... but watching these moderators announce 0 evidence about SERIOUS, POTENTIALLY CRIMINAL TOPICS, the most horrific things i've read described, while at the same time using up the priority for comments like "make sure to drink your water ❤️ / guys my water bottle is nasty guys clean yours!!! / the fictional mascot is under my care now don't worry :)" is a level of uncanny disconnection with reality that is off-putting to witness. there's a document being made, and you haven't banned them, ONLY doing so after the alleged perpetrator leaves on their own? i'm sorry, but what did you expect the reaction to be there? you let the perpetrator post their response and essentially get away with it before any evidence was ever posted on your end... what are you doing? do you have criminal allegations or do you not? why was this document or any other evidence not posted upfront BEFORE they "cut ties"? are you waiting for legal action? why don't you just say that?
i'm not saying you can't have humor in the face of uncomfortable topics or have to be 100% serious about it each and every time you speak about them, but i would certainly expect a level of professionalism and haste at the very least when addressing something like this to its fullest extent in a server-wide announcement. from the outside looking in, all i'm thinking about is a victim being subjected to csam (traumatic abuse material btw! guys what are we doing!), and how that could be affecting their developing mind.
so why in the world does this feel so clumsy in its execution? oh, right... they're all still teenagers. kids themselves. even some considered adults by the legal sense, they're still teenagers. and very clearly not mature enough to be dealing with this in a proper manner.
i was only in there for a day because i wanted commissions, and was going to leave anyway before i saw the bulletin posts and those ridiculous "i'm radio-rebel" style moderator sign-offs while they were promising evidence that STILL hasn't been given a week later. my first impression was that this server's owners need to (i say this gently) get offline, and that hasn't changed. take a break from making community servers. focus on your relationships. build healthier ones, have more experiences in reality, and get your priorities straight, man. we can't ever be omnipotent, all-knowing beings about what's going on around us, and i really don't expect these people to be when their community is so large.
but all i'm saying is: if you try again, please do it with a more logical professional mindset, and be more prepared first and foremost. have a plan for things like this. because this was a dumpster fire.
maybe i sound too harsh, but i'm not sorry.
