how come my dad was here to see all of my cousins graduate and not me
Ya know…this is really coming down to white folks. When you break down who was voting what by race, white people are driving the Trump vote while groups like Black women are pushing Hillary.
And you know who’s really pulling Trump along? Rural folks. Rural white people. So. Perhaps….before you harass Voters of Color….think on that!
Not ONLY that, but one of the reasons rural white folks support Trump is because white liberals have been condescending to them for so long, saying “those dumb rednecks don’t know what’s good for them,” and have eviscerated labor politics within the Democratic party. So white people are DOUBLY responsible for this, because the urban liberals basically created the reactionary rural conservative movement.
no offense, and perhaps this is jus my pessimism, but i’m confused as to why ppl think that the USA was headed in the correct direction in terms of confronting social inequality @ all and i’m personally confused as to how a Trump presidency would set us back any further than we already have been. is it bc we have marriage equality that ppl think we’re moving forward?
bc you still have LGBT+ ppl, particularly black trans women bein murdered unjustly and there’s been no major political movement to address that. nor the very high rate of LGBT+ children committing suicide. and like day to day under Obama’s presidency racism and the murder of young black ppl has been ridiculously rampant. like honestly i’m missing the political progressivism everyone else has been seeing and i’m also missing the fear of detriment (which would have still existed in that parallel universe where Hillary Clinton actually campaigned instead of dabbing and saying she was, in fact, not Donald Trump).
Trump isn’t a personification of the end of American society as we know it. ppl like me have been dying and would have continued to die regardless of the presidential election bc racism, xenophobia, transmisogyny, and so much more are integral and perpetual parts of our society. i am a dead bitch walking either way! Donald Trump is a personification of what America already is, not what it will or could be.
now PERSONALLY i’d much rather talk about my Minute Maid Fruit Punch (once again, it is 3 cartons for $5 @ your local Publix) bc no matter how much anyone tries to explain that diet oppression is no more relieving than oppression w/ all the calories, ppl will still try to play the blame game instead of looking @ the historicity of the USA and blame not only the toxic culture that has bred these unjust ideologies, but your ACTUAL enemies, being everyone in your neighborhood that proudly had a Trump sign in their yard that you were too afraid to confront bc you couldnt send them an anon or type so fast your fingerprints melt away smh
you can throw all the blame on thirty party voters, or you can also factor in that this is the first election in FIFTY YEARS without the voting rights act protections making sure people of color and other marginalized groups can get to the polls
ok i didn’t know anything about this so
Left to their own devices by the Supreme Court, some states and counties appear to be testing how far they can go with voter suppression. North Carolina is a case in point. Following the court’s decision in Shelby County, the Republican-led Legislature passed a law stuffed with voting restrictions, including voter ID requirements and reductions in early voting. Last summer, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit struck down most of the law, finding that it targeted Democratic African-American voters “with almost surgical precision.” Justifying a plan to end Sunday voting, the state said that counties allowing it in 2014 were “disproportionately black” and “disproportionately Democratic.” The appeals court judges correctly called this “as close to a smoking gun as we are likely to see in modern times.” The Republicans running the state wanted to change a voting practice out of concern that “African-Americans, who had overwhelmingly voted for Democrats, had too much access to the franchise.”
and
Overall, [the Supreme Court] decision [gutting the Voting Rights Act in Shelby County v. Holder] means more than 860 fewer polling stations in places with a history of disenfranchisement. State governments in Wisconsin, Texas, Ohio, and North Carolina are ignoring federal court orders to provide proper voting facilities.
its a new, new post
update: he y’all i just did the math for what I’m gonna owe on my bills for november, and I’m $300 dollars short on them, not including stuff like gas for the car, or food. please keep boosting this and please if you have anything to spare, even a dollar, it will help me.
———-
short version: my abusive father has been harassing my mom and i since their divorce was finalized in 2014. in the past year we’ve had to make five trips from where we live now back to SC for meaningless court hearings. each trips costs roughly $1,000 dollars between lodging, gas, meals, care for the pets and so on. the last one we took costed an extra $350 dollars in mediation fees for nothing to be resolved. my father is currently suing us based on things that have nothing to do with the divorce AT BEST, and are flat out lies at worst.
my mom is currently on oxygen, and we’re currently trying to figure out what kind of cancer she has. they have said she does indeed have something wrong with her, but they can’t figure out what yet because her blood tests keep fluctuating.
we drained our savings battling my father in court, and to top things off, he is now refusing to send the alimony he is supposed to be paying. he managed to get it dropped from $1300 down to $1000 in 2015, and now he is only sending us $500 dollars a month. my mortgage is $1000. currently, the only thing we do with his alimony is pay our mortgage.
over the summer i have had my home phone, cell phone, and my water disconnected at different intervals because i just did not have the money to pay them. we have cut back on our expenses as much as we can. we don’t even have cable right now, we’re using my friends netflix account.
i am at risk of being homeless because my father is refusing to pay what he owes in alimony, and we cannot get the courts in SC to help us, largely because we do not have an attorney and cannot afford one.
i am a severely, severely mentally ill, psychically disabled trans person, and my mother is elderly and disabled and on oxygen 24/7 and neither one of us can work. without this $500 dollars in alimony, we do not have the funds to pay our mortgage, and we will lose our house because of it. if we end up homeless because of my father, it will literally kill us.
i know i’ve been asking for a lot, and i know this is still a lot to ask for. but please, if you have anything to spare, even if it’s just a dollar, please help me try to make up the $500 dollars for my mortgage. if you can’t, please at the least boost this.
i have no other options. i have exhausted any and all outside help in real life, and due to living conditions during the divorce, we have nothing left we can pawn or sell to try and stay afloat with.
i am begging. please, please help me. even if it’s just a reblog. please.
I genuinely resent how ‘respecting parents’ often translates into allowing yourself to be an emotional (or even physical) punching bag, doormat or vessel for them to relentlessly project their idealized image of the perfect child, which often proves detrimental and inhibiting. Fuck that shit.
Why are they like all awful
So my mom got stupid drunk at this wedding and then proceeded to tell me every big decision I've made since I was wondering I was 13 was a mistake, something that made me a disappointment. Glad she's projecting her own insecurities on me

you deserve the love you keep trying to give everyone else
You deserve love that is equal. Where you receive as much love as you give. If someone isn’t willing to work towards that kind of love then it’s okay to leave them.
“We must oppose two anti-immigrant laws rapidly moving through the state Legislature that will become laws if we don’t unite as a community to stop them,” said Christine Neumann-Ortiz, executive director of Voces de la Frontera, one of the organizing groups.
