Hokum is an excellent horror movie. I think it shows how American movie goers are interested in horror films with some depth.
She ordered me lunch today at work. I already knew she was going to.
I didnât expect a text saying âthe food is thereâ to mean much, but it did.
It was an hour and a half before my lunch.
I spent that time thinking of her more than the food.
A few weeks ago, I texted her at work. Thatâs what we do. I asked her what she had for lunch and she told me she had been too busy to eat. So I ordered her food. And when it arrived I told her what I did. You donât always know how you make someone feel until they make you feel it back.
And when I was finally able to eat, the food was the best thing I had ever tasted.
I canât unsee it

The Miss Black America Beauty Pageant (1972) was more than a beauty contest. It emerged as a direct response to the exclusion of Black women from mainstream pageants that either ignored them or reduced them to narrow stereotypes. Instead of waiting for acceptance, it created its own stage where beauty, intelligence, and presence were defined on its own terms.
This wasnât about inclusion as an afterthought. It was about ownership. Black women presenting themselves fully, without distortion, and forcing a broader public to confront what had long been denied.
We saw two day laborers, pushing a cart of supplies and a generator. Our mutual aid table called them over and gave them free dinners, water and clothes.
We fed folks that were unhoused. And folks who came out their apartments just to come to us.
Itâs why our mutual aid is called Everybody Eats.
The person most likely to kill a woman inside of her own home, is not a stranger, but her very own partner.
I donât mourn men who kill themselves and their partners in murder-suicides. You shouldnât either.
Stay thick and dangerous.
Todayâs a good day to cancel student loan debts for Black women.

Cutting toxic people out of your life isnât bad or wrong. Sometimes you need to do whatâs best for your health, and sometimes certain people stand in the way of that.
