I'm running again with no issues. I just need to stick with the weights and make sure I roll regularly. I will keep adding distance and trying to build speed.
Liftung kept me going while I couldn't run. Now that I can run again, I've developed an issue with my left pectoral. Arm, shoulders, back, that's all fine so I can keep lifting, but it's a bummer to have this setback. Oh well, I need to train smart as I get up in age.
133 days to go (14Jan21)
It's been a tumultuous 2021. Just trying to keep progressing with the running and maintaining my lifting routine.
143 days and counting
Finally feel like I'm back in the running groove. My knee is better, and I can run without constantly worrying about what Is going on in my joint. i plan on slowly ramping up the distance with a 5k being a target for MLK Day. Recovery and strength training will be key for maintaining the health needed to get back to doing a race with marathon in the name.
Lifting is going well. Hopefully I can keep that going while ramping up the distance.
178 days to go
Another 5000 m down in the Concept2 Holiday Challenge. I’m at 20k m with 18 days to get the remaining 80k. I may make it, I may not. I will get lots of meters regardless of whether I get to 100k before Christmas.

I ran a mile! It was on the treadmill and very slow, but I ran again. My knee popped a few times, but it was tolerable. I plan to ease back into it. Maybe I will be up to a 5k by the time we get back to Disney in a touch over 3 weeks.
I also did this rowing session and hit the gym for a decent lifting workout. Pretty solid day (although I’m still eating too much).
187 days to go
Another bike ride up to the gym for some lifting. i can definitely feel the impact of regular lifting. I’m up to 4 reps with 225 after being able to just do 1 the first time I rode up to the gym. I have no excuses not to keep the regular workouts going this week!
Acacia, another long term project complete
I have had this book for ages. After seeing it on my shelf for years and just not being able to commit to all 750 pages, I can finally count it as read. I began reading it months ago while at the beach. It got rained on during a very impressive thunder storm when I set it down to take some pictures. It was put aside so I could read finish library books or other more interesting things. I have no plans to finish the trilogy. I had no interest in seeing how the various events would be resolved. I just wanted to finish it for finishing sake. It was the ultimate in checklist reading. I own it. I have read it.

This Isn’t from today’s rowing session, I actually managed to break 20 minutes this morning by the slimmest of margins, but it captures the activity. I’m still not eating all that well, but that’s just life at the moment. At least the work on my house is almost finished.
194 to go...(14Nov20)
Hit the gym today. That’s the silver lining to not being able to run. I’ve missed lifting. It feels good to be back at it with a regular routine. My knee is getting better so I hope to be running again soon. I hope to run on the beach at Daytona in a month or so and during our Disney stay. We will be at the Riviera, where I took this picture of the Peter Pan mosaic, the day after Daytona. I want to run there too. I will keep resting for a bit and try running in the treadmill in a week or so. I just need to be patient and take it slow. In the meantime, I will lift!
Hamilton bio finished at last!!!
I started this back in March. It would be a “I did this during the virus” thing. I finally finished it today. I listen to plenty of other stuff, but it is nice to have this behind me so I can move to other things. I enjoyed this book, but I am ready fir something new.
201 and feeling fine
Beautiful day for a bike ride up to the gym. Felt strong fit a change. I’m also working through some mental stuff related to work so it’s interesting times all around!
206 days to go
Managed to get in my 5000 m for the week. I towed right after the weekly long walk with my wife. The weather was less than glorious. We were pretty much in a down pour for all 4 miles. It was a good test for my new running jacket. It did well!
208 days remain in the countdown
My knee is not in running condition. I did no workouts all week (aside from a quick lifting session at the gym). Rode my bike to the gym this morning, lifted, and rode home.
Borrowed this from the library. I’ve seen it on sale but never bought it. I found out it was short. It’s part of a long list of books I’ve been working through for years. It was solid.
Run data
Turns out these 4.4 miles put me over my mileage total from last year. Just over 700 miles.
Knee brace acquired. Feels like it helps walking around. I’ll give it a test tomorrow.

I did my regular Thursday run. Once again listened to the Disney Dish podcast. I ran into an old neighbor and chatted for a bit. The weather was great. The only problem was my knee. It’s been bothering me for a couple weeks but it usually loosens up and is no issue after the first mile or so. That was not the case today. I stopped about a half mile from home because my knee was clicking and feeling off. It’s been popping randomly but it actually doesn’t feel bad now. I think I’m going to get a sleeve for my knee and see if that extra support helps on my next run.
