I hope this doesn’t come off as mean but i’ve gotten requests for very long specific scenarios and while i would love to do that for yall, I don’t have that ability! (at least not for free but i wouldn’t ask yall for that)
hello! can i please request a soulmate au fic for jamie tartt? (my thought is maybe the "every mark shows up on their skin" version? could go with bruises and/or writing!) i love your work :)
I LOVE SOULMATE AUS TYSM FOR THE ASK!!! ALSO ANOTHER APOLOGY FOR NOT POSTING IN AN ETERNITYIVE GONE THROUGH HELL AND BACK. BUT THIS ONE IS LONG AND UNEDITIED SO I HOPE IT MAKES UP FOR IT
Your whole life, all you ever heard about was soulmates. Your parents found each other when they were 14, meeting when your dad’s parents and him went on a vacation in England during his summer break. The two met in a nice bakery, the barely legible words that were plastered on his arm matching up with the pretty girl’s behind the counter perfectly (It turned out to be a new muffin recipe she had been learning.) All of your closest friends seemed to have found their soulmates early on as well, leaving you to even question if you were meant to meet yours at all.
You weren’t sure you even had a soulmate, seeing as you’ve yet to have any sort of mark or bruise or scrape. You’ve heard stories and rumors that proximity also plays a factor in when you connect with your soulmate. For some people, it’s taken half their lives of traveling the world before they got their first sign.
So you’ve accepted your fate as a possibly soulmate-less individual, almost positive you’d never find them until you were old and gray.
That is until you landed yourself an insane job opportunity across the ocean in Richmond. Rebecca Welton was hiring a graphic designer for a new startup and she reached out to you personally. So, you packed up and moved across the world.
Your first day on the job, you’re nervous as ever. You made sure the night before to lay out your clothes and set seven alarms to be sure you made it on time.
On your way to work, you stop at a coffee shop. As you’re walking through the door, a shoulder bumps yours and almost knocks you over.
“Woah!” the owner of the shoulder turns to you. “You alright, love?”
You scan over the man, genuine concern plastered on his face. “Yeah, I’m okay,” you tell him softly. Truly, the impact really hurt, but you didn’t want to make him feel bad.
“Nah, I hit you pretty hard. Let me make it up to you. Coffee’s on me.” It’s not hard for you to notice his Mancunian accent, almost making you blush? no way.
You accept his offer anyways, standing in line next to him. You take the opportunity to look him over once again, noting how he’s pushed his blonde locks back with a headband and how he’s clearly dressed to work out. He’s cute and fit, too. Not only that, but he’s insanely charming and kind even if you’ve only met him for a few minutes.
“Where you headed today?” he asks you, breaking you out of your little world.
“First day at a new job,” you tell him.
“Well congratulations!”
You thank him as the two of you approach the counter. After you order your coffee, he pays the barista and you take a seat. You notice him playing with his shoulder a bit as you wait. “Are you alright? Did my shoulder hurt yours on impact?” you ask with a bit of playfulness.
He smiles at you, tongue showing slightly. “Just a bit, but i’m sure I’ll live.”
You continue a light banter before your coffee is done. “Thank you for the coffee,” you look down at your phone, noticing the time. “Shit, i’m gonna be late!” You wrap yourself up and run out the door, not before telling him you hope to see him again soon.
You make it with barely a minute to spare. You take a minute to compose yourself and head insane. As you enter the building and pass security, a bubbly girl catches your attention. She waves you over excitedly.
“Hello!! You seem lost.”
“Is it that obvious?” you ask.
She nods her head “I noticed you check the bulletin board four times in the last two minutes,” she whispers to you. “Nevermind that, I’m Keeley, and you are my new friend that I’m gonna show around!”
A wave of relief washes over you as her excitement calms your nerves. “I just need to meet with Rebecca. Could you bring me to her office?”
Keeley takes your hand and starts leading you up to Rebecca’s office, going on and on about something the two had planned later in the week. You’re trying to pay attention, you promise! Yet, all of a sudden you feel like you’ve been smashed in the head, a raging headache blasting through your skull. Keeley’s miles ahead of you, still talking about whatever it was, until she stopped dead in her tracks.
“When the hell did you get that?” she pointed up to your forehead.
You cock a brow at her, hand moving up to feel if there was anything on your face. “What’re you talking about?”
She takes your hand and drags you into the nearest restroom. “Look!” she points to the mirror.
You move closer, inspecting the brand new, dark purple bruise that decorated your forehead. It’s shaped almost like a perfect circle, save for a bit of a hexagonal pattern on the side.
Keeley puts it together first, “Ooooh! Could this have anything to do with that soulmate thingy?? Do you know who yours is?”
“Not a clue,” you mumble, still trying to find any way this could’ve come about. “This is the first sign I’ve had of having one.”
“Amazing! You and I are gonna do some digging!!” she claps excitedly. “But first, we gotta cover this up! Can’t have your first meeting with Rebecca looking like an ex-unicorn!” She plops her purse on the counter, pulling out various makeup products.
After a bit of fiddling, it’s like the mark was never there. Keeley takes you to Rebecca’s office and the three of you hit it off insanely well.
“Rebecca,” Keeley starts, grabbing both of your attentions. “Y/N here is in a situation.”
Rebecca eyes you, a worried tinge in her stare. “How much money do you think it’ll take?” she asks, her voice all too serious.
“No! Not like that! A soulmate situation!”
Rebecca laughs placing her hand on her chest. “Thank God.”
You laugh at her worry and start explaining. “I haven’t met my soulmate yet. But, just now, on our way up here, I got this huge bruise right smack in the middle of my forehead-“
“That I so expertly covered!” Keeley chimed in.
“That you did. Anyways, this is my first sign of even having a soulmate in the first place. I wouldn’t even know where to start looking for him.”
Rebecca nods, an understanding smile on her face as she takes your hand. “I promise, Y/N, Keeley and I will help you find your mystery man!”
You smile at the two of them. “Thank you guys.”
The three of you talked for a while longer until you heard the screech of a whistle outside the window.
——
On the field, Roy is standing over Jamie as he cradles his forehead.
“That’s what you get when you decide to be an arse, Tartt,” his gravely voice is loud over him. “You’re out of it today!”
Jamie rolls his eyes. “Yeah whatever old man,” he stands up and wipes his hands off on his shorts. He starts to head back to the rest of the team when Sam stops him, gesturing to a newly formed bruise on his forehead.
“What?” Jamie scoffs.
“It looks Colin’s kicks are getting harder,” Sam says through a little smile.
“You’ve got a bruise the size of Manchester there, Tartt,” Issac chimes in.
“Alright boys, that’s practice!” Ted yells, clapping his hands.
After cleaning up inside, Jamie takes a look in the mirror, the bruise unmistakeable. There’s a bit of hope in his heart that he’ll finally have a chance to meet his soulmate, but he pushes that down and finishes getting dressed.
——
As you’re leaving Rebecca’s office, she decides to take you to the locker room to meet the team. The three of you enter the room, Keeley leading the way.
“You all better be decent! I have a newbie coming in!” she says, hands over her eyes but fingers split open.
The boys all cheer, greeting the three of you excitedly.
“Well howdy folks,” Ted waves, “You’re just in time, practice just wrapped up. You’re welcome to hang around!”
The team approaches you, one by one all introducing themselves. As you’re in a small chat with Sam, one more man runs into the room.
“Colin, you’ve got one insane kick, man!” he points to Colin.
You immediately recognize him as the man from the coffee shop. A small smile creeps up on your face as he turns towards you. You immediately clock the ginormous bruise that paints his forehead. And your heart stops. It’s the same thing hidden under the makeup on your forehead.
You grab Keeley’s arm and she gives you full attention. Before she says anything she notes the bruise. “Here here here!!” she pulls out a makeup wipe from her bag.
You approach Jamie, wipe in hand. “Coffee boy!” you greet him.
A smile grows so quickly on his face, a hand dropping onto his heart. “Guilty as charged.”
Your nerves creep up when you realize the weight of the scenario unfolding. Your soulmate. Right here in the flesh. On your first day of work. And not only is he really cute, but he’s a football star. You start to get cold feet. Maybe you shouldn’t tell him yet. Maybe you should wait it out to see if you two get along?
Before your thoughts take over your mind, you’re pulled away by Jamie waving his hand in front of your face. “You alright?”
Keeley sighs with impatience, swiping the wipe from your hand and gently removing the makeup on your forehead.
The room falls silent, all the boys taking turns putting the pieces together. Isaac started "ooo" ing quietly, other boys following suit.
You're frozen, terrified of what reaction is about to come from Jamie. You watch as his eyes scan over your face once more. He's quiet for what feels like forever.
Finally, his face moves. He cracks into this huge smile that's incredibly adorable and sickening and makes your stomach twist in knots. Then, hes laughing. This sweet, thick like honey laugh that just makes everything feel much more real. There's a billion people in the room, yet somehow his energy makes it feel like the two of you are alone. And then he talks. "Nice to officially meet you...soulmate"
You inhale, not even realizing you'd been holding your breath the entire time. You laugh along, tension in your shoulders dropping. You hold out your hand-who knows why that was your first instinct.
He laughs once more, a few of the others joining as well. He takes your hand and pulls you into a tender hug. "What do you say we get a drink tonight?" He asks quietly in your ear. "Ill be at yours at 7?"
Your smile only grows, Keeley behind you squealing as you answer with a soft. "Its a date."
Synopsis: Five thought you finally deserved a proper date after the years you spent together, but he gets some visitors
WARNINGS: descriptions of blood and violence, not at all proofread, (please lmk if i missed anything!!)
Five’s hand is clasped around yours as he pulls you into the abandoned museum. You’ve never seen him this excited to show you something since he found a snapdragon growing near the lake by your house. The small corridor expands into a huge cathedral, beautiful paintings adorning the ceiling, light spilling through the windows, perfectly illuminating the room in a golden hour light. Five breaks away from you to start rummaging through his bag, muttering to himself about the contents.
You take yourself around the room, scanning through every detail of the ceiling. “What are we doing here?” you ask.
Five breaks his concentration on the bag, taking your hand again. “Thought you deserved a proper date. Figured with your love of all things history, this would be the perfect retreat.” He gestures around the two of you.
“Such a romantic,” you note the light seeping in through the window that hits his shoulder, an idea popping up quickly. You push him back gently, positioning him just right so the light illuminates the chestnut brown of his eyes. “You’ve got the prettiest eyes,” you gawk, just above a whisper.
He smiles warmly at you and his hands find home on your waist. He pulls you into a sweet kiss, humming with content. Breaking away from the kiss, he brushes a loose strand of hair out of your eyes. “It took awhile for me to find this, so you better eat up every minute of it,” he pulls away from you, leading you down another corridor.
“Roger that, Captain Five,” you give him a salute and follow his lead.
The two of you make your way through what seems like the endless museum, taking your time to admire every single exhibit and art piece. As you’re both debating the translation of an ancient tablet, Five looks over your shoulder.
“Shit,” he mutters under his breath, breaking your focus on the tablet.
“What’s wrong?” you move to look towards his gaze, but he stops you, pulling you down to duck behind the nearest pillar.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle this. Just…” he trails off, finding the right words, “Close your eyes for me?”
You do, a cold gust of air enveloping you. You open them after a moment, Five nowhere to be found. You go to look over the edge, a splatter of blood and what you can only guess is an arm flies past before you can. A guttural scream escapes your throat, hands clasping over your mouth. Footsteps approach, and you scuffle away in fear, your back hitting the side of a table.
Five appears to be the owner of the steps, appearing from behind the pillar. He scans over the room, eyes quickly finding you. His stern and focused face melting into worry and concern for you. “Are you okay?” he falls to his knees, hands gentle as he places them on your cheeks. His eyes meet yours, and his heart nearly shatters at the fear he sees. “I’m so sorry,” he pulls you into a tight hug, “I never wanted you to see this.”
You don’t even notice you’re crying until you feel the hot tears spill down your cheeks. You throw your arms around him, clinging to him like he’s the only lifeline you’ve got. He’s rocking you softly, running a comforting hand up and down your back.
“Find him!” is what breaks the two of you apart, Five immediately returning to focus mode.
“Trust me?” he asks, offering his hand. You take it with a nod, a flash of blue and the same cold air from earlier surrounding you.
And you’re suddenly on the opposite side of the room, tucked behind the curtains of a display case. You can’t even bring yourself to question how he pulled that magic trick, more focused on the mess of blood and violence on the other side of the curtains that surround the two of you. You find a small bit of solace in the corner, hands wrapping around your torso as an attempt to ground yourself. Five tells you to stay put and you listen without arguing.
He slips out of the case in perfect silence, like he’s done this before. You watch him through the gaps in the curtains. He’s fighting two fully armored men with their own weapons. Five grab’s the collar of the man on his left, throwing his head into his knee. The man falls backwards and Five goes for the man on his right, interjecting the barrel of his gun and lodging a small blade into the side of his neck. He blinks, appearing next to the wall of weapons behind him.
There's a special little twinkle in Five's eyes as he’s tearing the nearest sword off the wall. He’s lunging at his next attacker, the blade of the sword slashing across his throat. He goes limp immediately, collapsing in a pool of his own throat blood. You continue to watch the bloodbath go on until every man is down except for Five, nearly unscathed, save for a few wounds that’ll surely heal within a week.
He takes only a moment to breathe before going to you. He tosses the curtains aside and runs to you. “Did they get you? Are you hurt? I’m so sorry sweetheart.” He starts to ramble, adrenaline rushing through his veins at the thought you could even have a scratch.
“Five!” you stop him in his panic, bringing him back to reality…at least you hope. “Please tell me who all of those guys were.”
He sighs, the one thing about him he never wanted you to have to deal with is now unraveling in front of you both. He grips the hair at his temples, an angry cry escaping with it. He curses under his breath, hands balling into fists and unballing again and again. After a few moments, he regains his composure, looking into your eyes with a level of desperation you’ve never seen. “Don’t be mad at me?”
You shake your head, a small smile creeping upon your cheeks even through the chaos surrounding you. Ignoring the blood he’s painted in, you place a gentle hand on his cheek, to which he nearly dropped the entire weight of his head into. “I could never.”
So, he starts his story, from his siblings, his powers, the men from the commission chasing him, and finally, how he ended up here, with you. “I tried to get us out before the end…but something went wrong and I can’t find my way home. But, I met you after years of trying to get back. So I figured I’d just…start over. You took me in, and you saw through all my stubbornness, and made me feel like I didn’t have to waste my life fighting a losing battle. I could just be here…with you.” By the end, he’s crying, another thing you’d never seen before today and with his serious demeanor you’ve grown to love, you’re sure most people haven’t seen it either.
Your thumb runs over his cheek. “I’m so sorry.”
“Don’t apologize. You have been the best thing I’ve ever experienced. In every timeline.”
You gawk at his sweet words, leaning up to press a gentle kiss to his lips. “I love you,” you tell him softly, kissing him once again.
He breaks the kiss, resting his forehead against yours. “Now, can we finish our date? I still have a lovely picnic waiting for us in the butterfly garden.”
