āBut antidepressants changes your brain chemistry!ā
when your parents are giving you lectures on life lessons youāve already learned through traumatic experiences they donāt know aboutĀ
Yaknow, fat is just a word. Saying āoh no no no, youāre not fat! Donāt worryā is just making it sound like they are fat, and that you think itās a bad thing, a problem, and that āfatā is an insult. Imagine someone saying āoh no no no, youāre not tall! Donāt worry!ā as if being tall was a negative thing. Theyāre just words to describe someoneās body. Itās up to each person to interpret them as good or bad. You choose to answer āomg you really think so? Thank you!ā or āwow thatās RUDEā.
Another thing is that people view the same body differently - I personally have been called āfreakishly skinnyā, āchubbyā and ābody builderā all in one day, by three different people.
A person with an ED might hear āYouāre really skinnyā as a compliment, while someone who wants to be curvy and/or strong-looking might hear it as an insult. It obviously also depends on how the comment is said to you, but your own interpretation plays a big part.
āFatā is just another adjective, just like skinny, tall, short, fit, dark, light, curvy, strong etc. You choose what words you hear as negatively or positively loaded š Just some thoughts Iāve had while going into ED recoveryā¦

yo what tHE FUCK Ā”
Interesting fact these two are playing but they are using play behaviors of their own species so they dont really āmatch upā!
Dog - is ābowingā and using open mouth ābitesā as forms of play
āPlay fight with me!ā
Cat - is giving the little paw bats they use when playing with kittens
āCute kittens get booped!ā
They are both trying to engage the other in a playful way but not understanding the others responce.
The dog is like āyou smack so no play? but not hard smack and no bad noise so not angry?ā
The cat is like āwhy you jump around? open mouth but no chomp? no hiss so is okay?ā
And then they sort of settle with a kind of communal grooming gesture they both understand!
Dog: no play? okay i lay⦠we calm now friend!
Cat: sad? no play? is ok i luv u weird kitten!
Days without my medication are hell... I have such bad brain fog right now):

Globalisation, Modernity and Postmodernity
AO1:
Globalisation:
Brought about by:
Technological changes.
Economic changes.
Political changes.
Changes in cultures and identity.
Modernity:
Time period - 1650-1950(ish).
Characteristics:
The nation state - A political unit in modern society ruled by a powerful and centralised state; each society is separate with itās own state.
Capitalism - The economy of modern society which brought on industrialisation and also the unequal distribution of wealth leading to class conflict.
Rationality, science and technology - Rational, secular scientific ways of thinking and taking over of the magico-religious explanation of the world.
Tradition, custom and ascribed status became less important as the basis for our actions.
Postmodernity:
Time period - 1950-onwards(ish).
Characteristics:
Globalisation - Increasing interconnectedness between societies across the globe.
The Media - A huge expansion in media technology.
A World in Fragments - The pace of change in postmodern society is more rapid.
Work - People now have multiple jobs throughout their life as opposed to one career (i.e. portfolio workers).
Fashion and music - Trends change at a rapid pace and is easily shown through both fashion and music, e.g. Britainās Got Talent (and other shows similar) bring someone into the limelight for a few months before they disappear again.
The breakdown of local communities - People move more often in their life (geographically) due to work, reducing the stability of local communities.
Consumer society - We live in aĀ āpick and mixā society as people now have more options to pick from around what they want to do with their lives and are less restricted by gender, class and ethnicitiy.
Cultural diversity and hybridity - We have an increased diversity in goods and services, fashion and music, family life, education and the world of work.
Late modernity:
The changes we are experiencing are not the beginning of aĀ ānew eraā but in a continuity of modernity.Ā
Giddens - Disembedding and reflexivity:
Disembedding -Ā āLifting out of social interactions from local contexts or interactionā; i.e. disembedding breaks down physical barriers (e.g. distance) to allow for interaction to continue to occur (even if more impersonal).
Reflexivity - Traditions and customs are less important which means that people are forced to 1) monitor their actions and 2) reflect on and modify their behaviour if needed.
Both of these lead to faster social change.
Beck - Risk society:
We face new dangers (e.g. global warming) and as reflexivity is now important, society is moreĀ ārisk consciousā meaning we acknowledge risks/dangers and try to avoid or minimise them.
AO3:
Postmodernity:
Jamieson - Postmodernism is actually theĀ ācultural logic of late capitalismā like how modernist theories are the logic of modern societies.
Late modernity:
Rustin - Criticises Beck, argues that technology is not the cause of increased risks in society, but capitalism.
Hirst - Also criticises Beck, argues that things like environmentalism will not challenge capitalism as they are too fragmented.
All of the time-periods and perspective points can be used to evaluate each other.
