“ don’t ask me about shit happened at the party. i literally went there for five minutes before realizing i wasn’t that much of a masochist and yeeted my way back out. ” he totally wasn’t a party person. loud events had the tendency at giving him a massive headache, let alone how they’re all focusing on boasting a lot and not having enough food. and yes, he’s the kind of person who’d go to a party if there’s food involved. “ so i don’t know why people’s muttering, really. probably someone set his own ass on fire while trying to fart or something. ”

her eyebrows raise at the older, head tilting to the side as she studies him. her lips twitch, amusement curling at the ends; her teeth dig low into her lower lip to fight back a bout of laughter. her eyes roll around, drumming her fingers on her arm. gaeul had went to the party, had to deal with everything that had happened there. her heart still beats at the memory of mone holding the spider too close to her face. she shudders at the thought, clearing her throat. “it-- it was okay.” she doesn’t remember any real sort of detail; liquor, laughter and dancing-- then spiders and the knowledge of basilisks. gaeul glances around them, hand lifting to curl her hair around her finger. “people were talking about baby basilisks running about,” she mumbles. “i didn’t see any, but there were a bunch of spiders and other bugs running around like they were scared. and i heard a couple of people...” she frowns. “...had an effect from it.”

he didn’t really wish to say anything that would make it seem like he was agreeing or backing down to her. hence he just sticks to the insult without going into more. letting silence be fall them for a moment as he works on propping his plant against  two thin rods so the plant would be able to grow standing a bit easier. 

if gaeul were any less prideful, she’d probably have the courage or the thought to ask caleb why he was so...vexed and irate by her mere presence alone. granted, if she were any less than who she was-- it’s likely they wouldn’t even have an issue at all. pride and a penchant for opening her mouth when she shouldn’t has always been a source of her problems; of her relationships and the situations she finds herself in.

she eyes him carefully, lips pursed as she tosses her hair over her shoulder. she shifts over-- careful to leave a good amount of distance between them that make her comfortable. “what?” she scoffs. “even if you were a troll i’d still be better than you.” it’s a petulant, childish thing to say. her head tilts up and she turns her expression fully away, fingers grasping for her wand as she begins to follow his example on her own set of greenery.

her jaw tightens at his comment, eyes narrowing as she glares down at the plants. her fingers twitch tight around her wand. her pride stings. she blinks rapidly, letting out a breathy laugh. “at least i’m not a blubbering idiot.” she grumbles, scowling to herself. she wonders if she would get into a lot of trouble for just letting a tad bit of heat-- just a small little flame flicker at the ends of his clothes. her teeth grit. “you must love the sound of your own voice,” she mumbles, clicking her teeth. “annoying.”

gaeul is panicking. her heart is beating a mile a minute as her shoes click and clack loudly in the hall. there’s a muffled voice behind her, and her jaw grits with determination. for someone that always claims she’s a princess, to be fawned and adored-- the moment when someone actually tries adoring her, she scurries away with her tail between her legs. it’s mortifying, embarrassing-- but she doesn’t know what to do when some people just don’t take a hint. “c’mon, gaeul-- think...” she mumbles, head moving a mile a minute. she catches sight of a blonde head-- the face familiar in passing, but she doesn’t know a name to match the face. her feet take her closer, and a lightbulb goes off in her head. she chances a glance over her shoulder, grimacing at the form of the boy that’s continuing to follow her. she sharply exhales, and jolts forward, boldly wrapping her arms around the chosen male’s arm. 

“hi!” she chirps, smile wide as her eyes crinkle up. “you weren’t waiting long were you? gaeul is sorry~” her voice is louder than normal, meant to be heard over the hall. her smile twitches a bit, eyes narrowing in her grin as she lowers her voice. “play along. please-- just...go along with it okay?” there’s a rush to her words, gritted out as she turns her head the slightest bit to note where her problem currently was.

she can’t stop laughing more than a few moments at a time-- and that’s all her fault, truly. she should have stopped earlier, but it’s peer pressure and the need to fit in that made her keep going. but now her body’s racking with giggles at the smallest little thing-- her cheeks a pretty pink and a smile curled on her lips as she staggers her way along with mone. her shoe catches and she yelps, hopping a bit before catching herself. shaking her head at herself, she turns her head to address the other girl. they need to be making their way out of the chamber relatively soon-- with the whispers of basilisks, the sounds of hissing and all the creepy crawlies that have begun to scurry about. 

“mone-- shouldn’t we...” her eyebrows furrow, head tilting to the side as she steps her way over to the girl. “hey! what do you--” another giggle, one that she harshly smacks her chest at, grimacing. “whatcha got there?”

“what do you think you’re doing?” 

calebs voice comes out a bit harsher than he originally intended. his emotions flaring the moment he spotted the other girl and drawing out the inner fire everyone says gryffindor’s have. but this is how it always is between them–for as long as he know. for all his time in hogwarts–he can’t think of them interacting in any other way than how they always have. and at this point caleb can’t even remember how this all started. can’t remember what had been the deciding factor in the animosity they feel between each other. 

the annoyance he can read from her mind when he speaks to her, is echo’d in his own. and while he can’t remember what started this he feels its unimportant. what ever it was had been a big enough impact to lead to years of rivalry. and caleb has done nothing but try and fuel it. not like she does anything to change it either. 

ugh. 

“though snakes couldn’t handle the cold.” he continued, his brows pulling into a frown even as he looks away from her and back to the plants he had been inspecting for his herbology class. a long term project that required him to come an check the plants. something everyone was doing–so he could only assume she was here for that too. but he didn’t really care.

her eyes flicker over the plants in front of her, exhaling through her nose as she takes note of everything-- grimacing as she scribbles down stuff in her notebook. she jolts at the question, but stills, her mouth slowly forming into a scowl at the recognition that settles in her head. slowly, she turns her gaze from the greenery to the boy near her, and she blinks at him slowly. eyes flicker over his form as she raises one brow. she snorts, head tilting to the side as she purses her lips. 

“what? are you the guardian troll of this place?” gaeul snorts. her eyes narrow in a glare, crossing her arms and tightening her coat further around her body. “you certainly fit the type.” she mutters snidely, voice loud enough to be heard, but gaeul can’t find it in her to care if the boy hears her or not.

the snake comment as her nose scrunching up. she laughs, incredulity flickering over her face. she should expect this-- caleb’s been like this forever, and probably always will have this animosity towards her for the rest of their days in the school. not that it matters, because gaeul can say the same regarding him. 

“shed my old skin,” she smiles, mocking. she shifts in place, adjusting her grip on her small stationary as her fingers flex around it in irritation. “new skin, new me, don’t you know?” she reaches up to toss her hair over her shouldes, nostrils flaring as she shifts her balance and straightens her form. “if you actually used your eyes for once, you’d see i’m working on something, kang.”

“you—” her eyes blink, rapid, trailing over the light specks of bruising around the elder’s face, then down to his knuckles; scabbed over and reddened from altercations. gaeul’s lips purse, nostrils flaring as she exhales. her eyes fall shut, counting one, two, three in her head to bring herself to a temperament that won’t get looks thrown at her, her tongue pokes against the inside of her cheek. “come on, seriously?” she scoffs, a frown marring her features as she fights the urge to roll her eyes at her sibling’s antics. “how many times are you going to get pummeled before you learn that maybe usings your fists—” she reaches out, and despite the callous way she tosses her words around, her grip is gentle as she grasps one of her brother’s hands. a dainty finger taps at an area above scabbed skin. “— isn’t the right way to go about things?” her eyebrow raises, head cocking to the side as she stares up at jaeyong pointedly.

hello, hello !! it’s nice to be here ;u; i’m mir, the typist behind gaeul here!! i’m not...super versed in hp stuff, so please forgive me if it takes me a bit to get settled in rip dfkjgh but !! i’m super excited to be here with you guys ~ i have a little page up about gaeul HERE if you guys need a quick run through. hopefully i’ll have more stuff up during the week, but for now i’d love to brainstorm stuff out!
