I have a theory that the king in yellow became more violent and callous after being fractured and having a piece of himself trapped in the dark world
I wonder if he could feel that part of himself, all the anguish and torment that being in the dark world brought it
Or if just being forcibly ripped into pieces drove him a little mad himself. He would’ve done anything and gone through anyone to be whole again
Alright ladies and gems, I am done!
Started this the night “The Parting Glass” came out. I think we all had a lot of feelings about that ending (I cried, then bawled, then listened to the whole thing again cuz im a masochist).
I put this piece aside for a while because there were things I just couldn’t resolve (like the background). I’m glad I finally finished it. I think it might be one of my favorites.
Anyway, thoughts?
I feel like sometime after s2 or 3 John realized just how fucked up his and arthur’s situation is and he’s trying to come terms with it, how much he’s taken from Arthur and all the terrible things he’s done both as the king in yellow and just as himself, and for the most part Arthur is just like “yeah I’ve made my peace with it”
I personally like the idea that Arthur still holds some anger deep down inside for what John has done. Like buried so deep that not even Arthur knows about it. Because he never got the time to properly process it.
(HUGE spoilers for all of Malevolent up to Threshold (S7) below) (sorry) (ignore the rest if you ain't there yet lol)
I kinda wonder if a part of arthur regrets his decision to stay the course when the manager offered him his dream life where his entire family is still alive and happy, but he chose John over all that
Like, he just wants faroe to be happy, and she was already happy in that universe. But now he has faroe again anyway, and he’s too scared to get too close to her, how could he if he has this god fragment that he can’t tell anyone about in his head

Well, malevolent is drawing to a close and it's been an amazing adventure and journey. I am so incredibly grateful of the opportunity I have been given to have my art featured on such an amazing show.
Who knows what art adventures will come next but I am absolutely certain I will miss these two.
s2 was seriously such a doozy
the king in yellow: i'll let arthur live and return him to his world but im taking "john" back
john: ok deal
arthur: i would literally rather kill myself
vs
omfg these two
arthur and john: one step at a time and there's a lot to deal with right now, but our ultimate goal is to separate and get our own bodies
also arthur and john every time they are separated, doesn't matter if it's under ideal or dire circumstances
help i need somewhere to dump all my thoughts about malevolent and im too old to figure out how discord works
