The amount of people in the notes acting like this is a god damn hate crime is ridiculous.
I see a bunch of stuff like “only animals can be a vet then” and “women can choose a male or female gyno” “bad post op” “as a trans man, this makes me laugh” “a man spends 8 years in practice and sees dozens of vaginas everyday, your vagina isn’t gonna give him a boner” and the people genuinely offended by this and calling women feminazis
Let me expand on why women feel men shouldn’t be gynecologists (and feel free to add):

Because I know no one on the site likes to read, a lot of these have to do with men in power using their position to take advantage of women under the impression that it is “medical practice”. This includes but is not limited to inappropriate use if equipment, touching, pictures, and asking them to strip naked. These are just a few examples, I could spend all day finding hundreds of cases.
Pelvic exams are very personal and include people looking at your vulva, touching it, sticking typically two fingers in your vagina, and sticking metal objects into your vagina. They can also do this through the anus.
And for the people saying you have a choice, at a lot of places you don’t. If there aren’t any females available (at that time or at all) they will just assign you a male. And I’ve heard a lot of stories by people I know of times they looked and poked around down there without really needing to (UTIs and other bacterial issues that you could just pee in a cup for) and contining to try to swap, probe, or penetrate after the patient has expressed pain.

The husband stitch is pretty commonly known amoung women and it is the practice of after childbirth, they will give women an extra stitch for the sexual pleasure of her husband but causes the woman a lot of discomfort and pain.
But also things like this:

The “father of gynecology”, J. Marion Sims, invented the speculum used in pelvic exams. He’s said to have performed gynecological procedures on enslaved black women without anesthesia or their consent. Despite his concerning legacy, his speculum design has largely been unchanged.
So it just makes more sense for us women, to have the things going inside our bodies, be designed by women with bodies like us. And the design that these women came up with helps both the patient and the examiner.
So, like, just let females say they’re completely uncomfortable with a males looking and probing and sticking things into their vaginas because of the abuse of power and lack of empathy and understanding. It’s not to say every man is bad, this post just says it eliminates the chance of women being hurt or assualted since both are common.
