“Faces” - Sally Mann

On my shoot today the photographer showed me his collection of Sally Mann books and explained her process of glass-printing. I was so shocked and blown away and inspired by this series. She’s a conversational photographer and each image holds a conversation or meaning as they’re mostly images of those close around her or of places she’s grown up with and knows. It was something I saw and thought “How did I live my whole life without really seeing and delving into these images?” An American icon.

I JUST GOT BACK FROM SEEING SALLY MANN SPEAK AND I WANT TO DIE IT WAS SO GOOD SHE’S SO WITTY AND BRILLIANT AND IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN HER DOCUMENTARY YOU SHOULD, EVERY YOUNG ARTIST SHOULD.
