Daan was detained when he had broken into DYAD to find more information on Project CASTOR. He has been held prisoner for going rogue after Doutzenâs death, corporate espionage (stumbling upon the secrets behind DYADâs creations, Project LEDA and Project CASTOR), and leaking information.
On the back of Daanâs neck, there is a dragon tattoo. Its tail curls up at the very base of his neck. He acquired this tattoo after graduating from cadet school and was assigned to the garrison he would serve with: The 992nd Battalion, also known as âThe Black Dragonsâ.

Daan followed the killerâs trail throughout Europe and touched down in Canada to search for them.Â

When it came to pursuing Doutzenâs killer, Daan went through all of the DYAD channels and gathered up as much information as he could about the other dying clones and patterns that followed. With that information Daan served all ties with DYAD to carry out his quest without redtape and regulation.

Daan and Doutzen were engaged to be married when she was killed. Daan loved Doutzen with all of his heart, and watching her die before him had made something snap. That was when he made his vow of vengeance to her. He was going to find her killer or die trying.

Daan was Doutzenâs monitor for four years. After a year of interaction, the two of them became a couple. After the second year that was when Daan began to truly feel love for Doutzen.

It was upon receiving his first assignment from the higher ups of the Dyad Institute that he truly learned what it was he was doing. He was assigned to watch over and observe Doutzen Arendsen, a subject of Project LEDA who was raised in the Nederlands.

While transitioning back into civilian life, Daan was approached by representatives of the Dyad Institute under the pretenses of a âprivate security jobâ. In need of a job, Daan accepted.

At the age of eighteen, Daan joined the Surinamese National Army in order to obtain money for college. After serving two years, he then transferred to a military reserve college in the Netherlands where he double majored in psychology and criminal justice.

Daan is the eldest of four children. He has three brothers: Adriaan âRiaanâ II, Bartel, and Bastiaan; and one sister: Aletta.

Daan Citroen was born in Paramaribo, Suriname to Adriaan Citroen, a Surinamese Creole, and Eva (nee Brouwer) Citroen, a Surinamese Maroon, on November 9, 1985.
