I recently jus graduated high school but due to my financial situation, i unfortunately will not go to college for who knows how long. I know the initial guidelines required you to be a student, but is that just when youre first applying?
You aren’t required to be a student. You just need to have been in the US before a certain date and age and for a consecutive time.
I'm in the process of applying for Daca next week are there and tips and advice you can give me before I send in my application
Yes of course!!! Gather as much evidence as you can, that means any documentation proving your continued presence in the United States (hospital visits, doctor visits, school records, official records from a religious entity confirming participation in a religious ceremonyForm I-94/I-95/I-94W anything you can think of that has a location, and a date). Make sure you provide proof for all the requested information.
Write your name, date of birth, and mailing address exactly the same way on each form.
USCIS will reject your request if you fail to submit Forms I-821D, I-765 and I-765WS and the $465 in fees.
Most of this information I received directly from this link: https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/consideration-deferred-action-childhood-arrivals-daca#guidelines
follow it to the T and you should be good.
Are there any DACA stories from Washington state? I'm thinking of moving there after my renewal process is through. I know I'll have to get the change of address forms and all, I'm just nervous because all the stuff I need here in FL is...here. But I wonder about other states. Can anyone shed some light?
We have many stories that have been submitted to us but now that i think about it I don't recall any Washington specific ones. A number of them won't include their state of residence. If you're from Washington and have a story, please submit to us so we can share!!DACA is the same throughout the entire country and it would be a good idea to stay put until you are approved since you have to report change of addresses which would elongate the process.-Luis
hey, you guys are back! yay! Any advice on getting money for school with DACA? Everything I've seen is targeted towards the hispanic community, and since I'm not hispanic I'm like what do i do?
Yes, we're trying our best! It really depends on your state. California has the most opportunities by far.Undocumented students, including us DACA recipients, are not eligible for federal student aid, but you may still be eligible for state or college aid, in addition to private scholarships. Here is a good place to start: https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/eligibility/non-us-citizens-Luis
Here's what happens next.
Please read this if you have DACA or know someone who has DACA. It looks like the supreme court will NOT be reviewing DACA rather the DACA extension and DAPA.
This could be potentially really great for families!
So please don’t panic like I did (I was a mess for 5 minutes at a movie theater omg)
Please reblog this.

I am so thankful for this blog, it made me less nervous seeing that other people are going through the same things I was, thank you
Thank you! Sorry it's been kind of inactive. Lewis and I got DACA and hit the ground running!
I live in Maryland and I was wondering if you knew where can get help in filling out my renewal for the DACA.
Google United we dream. They rock!
My permit expires this weekend the 13th, I know it's not legal to work without my permit but I have 2 jobs, one with e-verify (who'll fire me this Sat) and the other one a city job. City job insisted I keep working after showing them proof of.....
So my DACA ended without a renewal. I kept working without telling them and they never checked. A month later I got my new work permit and everything was cool. That's just my personal experience.
IMPORTANT DACA NEWS
Hey everyone. Please check your EAD’s and if your expiration date is in 2018 there is a chance your Daca might be in jeopardy.
Some of the 3 year work permits were made with a TYPO and USCIS is asking they be returned by JULY 30th or risk losing DACA.
This is an amazing website that everyone who has DACA should be using and they are currently hosting an “online quiz” that can tell you if you need to take action.

Yeah I shouldn't but they were cool with it but idk. As for my e-verify job they most likely will let me go because I havent even gotten my fingerprinting letter yet so I told them Im still behind on getting approved. Btw where can I check my status?
you can check your status on the official USCIS website. Or just google USCIS case status and enter your receipt numbers.
My receipt and telling them how I'll have one soon which I think isn't the right thing to do. What number do I specifically call for the temporary work permit or extension? I renewed 97 days before it expired so idk 😭
Hi thanks for your question I'm unable to copy the beginning of your question because I'm on mobile but, basically, whether your employer wants to keep you employed while you're in legal limbo is completely up to them. Technically you are not required to inform your employer that your work permit is expiring. It is the responsibility of HR to track all of that. Speak with HR on your e-verify job as well as your direct supervisor and have a talk with them. Let them know your situation and ask them if they'll let you back in once your permit is approved. I dealt with mine that way and after my work permit was renewed the same day of expiration, my employment was reinstated in full about a week later. You never know, your work permit might be renewed on day of expiration just like mine. Make sure to check every day! Best of luck to you keep us posted! -L
I recently just got my DACA renewed, which is awesome :). I was wondering, do we have to get a new social security number?
No not at all. Your SSN is with you for life, whether you keep DACA, leave DACA approval status, or gain or lose immigrant status. Say for example, you get a green card. Your SSN is always the same! :)
Do you know of any medical insurance that we can get? I was in the hospital for a day and my bills came out to nearly 10k. I been told that obamacare & medical aren't available to us, is that true?
Well unfortunately you cannot get insurance to cover costs of past medical bills. In addition, yes you are correct DACA approved recipients are not eligible for government funded financial medical aid, such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Obamacare. You would have to go through a private insurer, such as through your employer.
barbigrrrl a traffic ticket doesn't count as a misdemeanor, so I highly doubt it'll count against you.
Wow what a coincidence congrats! Right on time! How long did it take for your biometrics notice to come in? It's been almost a month and yet to hear anything sorta worried. My DACA expires in August. Would you mind posting the timeline for your renewal? It's really nice to be able to come to your page and have other people to talk to so thank you.
Thank you! Yeah I was fired from my job (they use e-verify) and rehired a week later when my EAD came in the mail. I applied for renewal on December 11, right at the end of the window of time for which you can apply before it's too late, and received a notice of payment on the 19th. On December 26, I received my ASC biometrics appointment notice, which was scheduled for January 16, 2015. Went right on time, and I did not receive any further notice until my approval on April 11, 2015 same day of my expiration date for my previous EAD. My friend was also approved on date of expiration, which is really inconvenient for people that work for companies that use e-verify like myself. But it isn't a denial so can't complain. There really is no reason for denial unless you had some criminal history added to your record since your last approval, or if you left the country without parole. Best of luck to you! Keep us updated :)-L
