A hint. What would be a good hint? “It’s out of town.” Yes. The less she knew the better the surprise. He frowned a bit at her recounting the day and confirming that yes her boss had indeed been a jerk to her. “You don’t have to stay there if you don’t want to Scout. You know I would take care of you. That pendejo wouldn’t bother you again.” It would be so easy. She could just leave. He was making more than enough money for the both of them. Not that she knew exactly where it came from but what did that matter? He brushed a lock of her hair away from her face, gently caressing her cheek in the process. “You deserve better.” He pressed a kiss to her hand before returning his attention to the road.
Scout tried to look annoyed but she was too excited by the prospect of a trip. Trips with Raf were always exciting, he had more money and connections than Scout even knew. And she didn’t want to know. “Out of town? I haven't packed anything.” She fretted for a second about this, having to buy something or stop by her mothers on the way out of town. Scout’s mother hated Rafael, or maybe just her daughter. She didn't like to think about it. And the talk of her job was only making it worse. Her heart swelled when he instantly offered to take care of her, mind shifting to glorious thoughts of the future. Quitting her job, moving with him, seeing the world, it was perfect and Scout had a hard time restraining herself from instantly saying yes. She smiled, leaning her head into his hand on her cheek. “I would love that, but if I quit doesn't he win?” He kissed her hand and she let it linger on his shoulder rubbing gently, “And what would I do all day while your off working?” The car turned into the local airport and her face lit up. “We are flying?!”
