I initially drew this digitally, but I can't seem to make it work. I even traced the same sketched outline I did. II just Couldn't. Make. It. Work. 😭

As you can see below. It's very unfinished. I spent almost a day trying to finish it, but I just wasn't happy with it. With around 10 hours left until deadline, I decided to just scrap it and picked up my pens and watercolor... and did it within a few hours. I feel rusty, but I feel more accomplished and happy with the outcome.

Broke in my huge watercolor book that I got as a holiday present. Inspired by Andrea Nelson Art on yt.

Things went wrong before I even started. Taped the second page, went back and taped the edges of the first page... And then DREW ON THE SECOND PAGE. Because, of course, I did. 😅

So I just went with painting on the second page. As always, I wasn't relaxed. So I colored past the edges and kept on going back to correct them.

Buuuut, in the end... It's fine. I'm still keeping this. I loved making cutout felt paper hearts in grade school. And I had a bit of fun mixed with the stress.

Forced myself to do a drawing today when I tried out the brushes I got recently. I still need to get the hang of inking with a very thin brush, so I switched to my brush pen to finish this off.

My first attempt at clay sculpting using air dry clay. Saw niece making this cool school project, and asked if I could commision her to do Murderbot. But she was too busy, so I thought I'd do it myself.

It's quite flawed, it could've been better, but I like it. Though I should've picked a subject with lesser detail. 😅

What can I say? He's my meowmeow babygirl.

An attempt at putting down values first. Couldn't resist and inked some parts.

And I think I got gouache and not watercolor. Pigment feels sticky? and it's not that watery... idk. I can't remember what I bought! I just put them in my watercolor tray.

Rant under the cut!

A bit of a clusterfuck, but I'm keeping it.

I mentioned in my various posts across my socials that what could go wrong did go wrong for this work. So I just threw whatever on it and see what happened. A happy accident? Maybe. I'm just not feeling the "happy" part at the moment.

I kinda like it, flaws and all. Maybe I'll like it more once it dries properly.

I made it! Day 1. It's literally been months since I finished a proper drawing. I confess that creative thievery by AI dampened my motivation to create lately, but I'm working my way out of the funk with this. And I hope to get out of this slump completely with October coming up. 🤞🏼

Saw a bunch of AI-stolen Ghibli "art" from friends' feeds on Facebook, I had to express my sentiment in a drawing when words failed me.

AI was supposed to help with the repetitive, mundane and possibly dangerous tasks, so that people can put more time in fun and creative pursuits. Not the other way around.

After [checks watch] 12 days struggling to start, I took to my pens and doodled this. I didn't plan on actually drawing this, but since I had a half-baked concept in my head, I just went ahead and did it anyway. Just to start something.

Someone in the Rinch Discord server posted a picture of this military-inspired apron, and I thought, this is definitely John's apron at home. 😆

This was originally for @aheroinasuit's BigBang fic, Tinderbox

I wasn't happy with the initial concepts I sketched out (the pose, their expressions) so I went with what's currently posted as part of POI Big Bang.

After finishing Big Bang, I thought I'd come back to finish this piece. While it may still fit in one of the earlier scenes in the story, I felt that the other work illustrated a very dramatic scene better, imho. But I liked this piece, regardless, so I went and inked it.

I was going to color it digitally, but I wasn't so motivated to do it, so I busted out the watercolors... and then tweaked the a spot of color on John's jacket and face digitally. 😅 It might not have been as good as it could have been if colored digitally, but I couldn't get the same sense of fulfillment when drawing and painting old school.

I really need to paint on better paper. 😁
