white people need to start raising content creators who are poc instead of writing our stories for us. like either do your damn research or don’t write the story. i constantly see white people trying to have “representation” and 90% of the time they’re caricatures of what a poc is.

white people consistently gravitating towards another white person telling the story of a brown person and giving themselves a pat on the back for basically telling their white experience through a brown mouth. white people, please understand yall are part of the problem and you need to be conscious of the work you’re consuming and making.

then there’s poc content creators giving accurate deep portrayals of their experience who get little to no exposure and who’s legitimate stories get swept under the rug.

this is about latinx, indigenous, black, mixed, asian, and other racial/ethnic minorities (espeically those who are disabled and/or lgbtq+)

Just had my nth conversation with someone about mask-wearing today - yet another well-intentioned moron who was like 

‘But the virus is gone now’ (it isn’t) 

‘But the mask is uncomfortable’ (ventilators are worse)

‘But you’re young, you won’t die’ (having this thing could impact my health for decades to come + it’s my responsability to protect those who’re more vulnerable than I am because that’s how society works)

‘But are you going to live in fear for the rest of your life’ (taking concrete safety measures actually helps me feel more in control and less worried)

‘But are you going to give up everything and stay inside like a rat’ (no, but I’m definitely going to decide what’s worth risking my health for, and shopping for bread rolls is not very high on my list of literally-to-die-for activities)

‘But what if they never find a vaccine’ (then we’ll get used to the situation just like we got used to a thousand other things like seat belts, bike helmets, and increasingly weird true crime podcasts). 

I know it’s tiring to have people call you paranoid all the time - but you’re right and they’re wrong. Check the news, keep a safe distance from others whenever possible and keep wearing your mask!

We’ve had a major victory in the LGBTQ community this month but we’ve also had some losses. Last week, within 24 hours of each other, two black trans women were found murdered with very little press coverage. It’s heart wrenching. Their names were Dominique ‘Rem’mie’ Fells(left) and Riah Milton (right). Say their names!

We have to shine a light on this issue and continue to defend the groups that need it most. Transgender people are at heightened risk for fatal violence, especially transgender women of color.

Last year, The HRC (Human Rights Campaign), reported that in 2019 alone, at least 26 trans and gender nonconforming people were killed in the United States alone. Disproportionately, Black trans people were the victims. Those I have illustrated here, do not even scratch the surface of what is, and should be recognised as, an epidemic. Now, more than ever, it is crucial that we do whatever we can to support the black trans community.

Yesterday marked one week since the murder of Tony McDade by Tallahassee police. The silence around Tony’s death has been astounding, especially during Pride month - we have so little to celebrate as a community this month. Black trans lives are under attack, and Tony deserved to LIVE. Where is the outrage over his murder in the media? Where is the outrage in our community? While our Black trans siblings are being murdered and beaten at alarming rates across the US, the white queer community too often turns its back and it too often costs them their LIVES. we all have to do better - protect Black trans lives at ALL COSTS. honor Tony McDade’s memory and fight for him, too. ✊

✨ JUSTICE for #DominiqueRemmieFells 🌹 JUSTICE for #RiahMilton ✨Two fallen angels, two sisters in struggle who have finally found peace. Dominique “Rem’mie” Fells of Philadelphia, PA was only 27. Riah Milton of Liberty Township, OH was only 25. Both were stolen from our world before their time, victims of the transphobic hate and violence that continues to terrorize our communities while the world watches silently. Dominique and Riah were killed within a 24 hour period, and news of their murders reached the LGBTQIA+ community as we mourned our 49 stolen siblings who were murdered 4 years ago at Pulse nightclub in Orlando. Meanwhile, the Trump administration has rolled out new hateful policies to further push trans PoC to the margins. All lives cannot matter until BLACK TRANS LIVES MATTER - if we don’t fight for our most vulnerable, most marginalized and most stigmatized sisters & siblings, our revolution is no “revolution” at all.
