Colossians 3:2 (NKJV) Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. —Romans 8:26-28 ⠀ When you find yourself wondering if you’re in the right place, if you’re doing the right thing, working the right job, living in the right city, or marrying the right person, it’s easy to get mentally and emotionally paralyzed because of the fear that you’re making the wrong decision. ⠀ As uncertain as the future may seem to be at times, because of the Holy Spirit, you have no reason to be afraid. When you make the time to pray, the Spirit steps in and articulates the cries of your heart. The questions and doubts that plague your mind are then made known to your Heavenly Father, who knows all there is to know about you. ⠀ Take comfort in this! Let Him search your heart knowing not a single worry or doubt goes unnoticed. ⠀ Written by @morganhnichols for #TheDevoCo
He calms the storm, so that its waves are still. —Psalm 107:29 ⠀ In the same way it is impossible to prevent nature’s storms from brewing into the atmosphere, we cannot prevent life’s storms. Even beyond that, there is no way of truly knowing the storm’s impact until it hits. You can try to guess, look for signs, and even try to compare this storm to previous ones, but until the storm clouds are swelling above the roof and the rain begins to pour, you never know how it will affect you. ⠀ As followers of Christ, we have to remember these storms are no reason to fear. God is well aware of these storms, and not a single one has slipped off of His radar. ⠀ You might find yourself wondering, “Does God really care about the loneliness I’m dealing with? Does God actually see how much I’m struggling at work right now? Can God seriously help me with the stress in my family? ⠀ The answer is yes! Though the storm affects you from every angle, God is not surprised or taken aback by it at all. He has the power to calm the storms with a single whisper. As long as the storm is brewing, pray and ask Him what it is He desires you to learn from it. Ask Him to deliver you, and let Him strengthen you in this process. ⠀ Written by @morganhnichols for #TheDevoCo
Constant physical tasks, coupled with emotional stress, can make us tired and weary. We need constant refreshing. During Jesus’ life here on earth, Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed. (Luke 5:16) He needed this fellowship with His Father to face the day. Jesus invites us to pause and rest. Our good Shepherd wants to replenish, refresh and restore our weary souls. When we do that like David we will say Yes,Truly my soul finds rest in God; my salvation comes from Him. My hope comes from Him. He is my rock and my salvation, my fortress, I will not be shaken. Psalm 62
1 Timothy 4:12 (ESV) Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.
The key word is WATCH. Which would you prefer, a watchman on the wall (during a threat of attack), who frequently falls asleep without warning; or a steady one who constantly watches. God wants us to be like the faithful watchman. Though we know not the hour or day of His coming, He has not left us without signs. The warning is a general one - to All - WATCH! Heed the signs and increase your alertness in watching and praying. Lest coming suddenly He find you sleeping. (Mark 13:35-36)
Have you ever messed up so badly that it left you believing God wants nothing to do with you? And if that’s you today, I want you to know that Jesus loves you and will do anything to reach you. Jesus left heaven and came to earth to restore anyone who is willing to be cleansed. Today, you can meet with Jesus, bring Him all your mess, and allow Him to cleanse you. Whatever the mistakes, give it all to Jesus. He is willing to forgive you and give you a fresh start. Because He Himself suffered when He was tempted, He is able to help those who are being tempted. Hebrews 2:18
