Huynh Thuy Le Old House, Dong Thap province, Vietnam
This wonderfully atmospheric 1895 house on the riverfront was once the residence of Huynh Thuy Le, the son of a rich Chinese Vietnamese family who had an affair with Marguerite Duras in 1929, when she was only 15. She immortalised the romance in The Lover, eventually made into a film. The house is filled with intricate interior woodwork, mother-of-pearl inlaid doors, heavy wooden furniture and original floor tiles made in France.

Two weeks from today Bob Krist and I get to teach our first Travel Photography Workshop together, ever. What a chance to teach alongside this legend! (He’s also a good and generous friend.) We call it travel photography but I really think of it as “Essence of Life Photography.” Both of us have always wanted to reach below the surface to uncover the richness of the places we travel to. Beyond that we are both small kit, one-man-band working photographers; we never want the gear to get in the way of the experience. So we’ll talk about all of that starting August 9 for Summit Workshops. Follow the link in my profile if you’d like to join us. (I hope so.) @summitworkshops #photoworkshop — view on Instagram https://ift.tt/3BH36A7
Nikita Busyak Creates Architectural Drawings That Look Like They’re Illuminated With Real Lights
A simple flick of the switch can transform a home from dark and asleep to bright and full of life. Ukraine-based artist Nikita Busyak captures this effect in his enchanting pen and ink illustrations of cityscapes. In each architectural drawing, he digitally manipulates the windows so that they glow with golden light, making it seem as though someone is home.
