nickrossi:

“The movies.” Nick replied, putting a lot of emphasis on the word, more trying to correct himself than Dakotah. It had been the movie business for much longer than it had ever been the pictures business, but somethings stuck with you. “Yeah. Warner Brothers Pictures. I was a script writer before I was sired. I mean… I guess I still am, here and there. But it’s kinda hard to do the 9-5 thing as a vampire.”

“I feel that. Sometimes I get scared I’m going to run out of places to travel to and re-open my bookstore. I mean, I have no idea how long---” He paused, finally looking back down at his feet. “I mean, I dunno. Hopefully the sun explodes soon.”

nickrossi:

“I used to do a lot of running. In the pict—erm.” Nick paused for a moment, trying to find his words. “In the movie biz. When you’re working for someone like Jack Warner, you learn to fucking run when you have too.”

“In the pictures...?” Dakotah asked, looking up again, this time for more than just a second. Interesting. “Like, the Warner Brothers? Does this mean I can make old jokes?” He asked next, though having turned twenty-one about three hundred times now, he probably didn’t exactly have the place to do that.

charlies-an-angel:

Charlie gave a nod, a small smile pulling on his lips as a small ‘thank you’ left him while he took his jacket back. “It’s not a matter of you paying for it- it’s called being friendly. What’s your name, anyways?”

“Why would you want to be friendly to someone you don’t know?” He asked softly, closing the book in his lap. “Dakotah. And you are...?”

nickrossi:

“As long as you humor me.” Nick joked with a sly grin. The younger male seemed like he was starting to relax, though it was sort of cute the way he seemed to be paying such close attention to his surroundings. Nick wasn’t sure he’d ever met anyone like Dakotah before, but it was refreshing. “I’m not the kind of guy to get in a hurry, anyways. I like to take my time. But that doesn’t mean I can’t run when I need too.”

“So, what makes you so convinced you’re a fast runner then? Just a special talent of yours, or...?” Dakotah asked, still looking down at his feet. He made the slightest, most brief glance up at Nick before returning his calm stare back to the ground.

El was startled by the sudden individual demanding her attention. “No?” she answered quietly. “Maybe?” she added after another moment.

“You keep looking at me.” He said sharply, looking back down to his book. “If you want to say something, just say it,”

“My brain can’t stop wondering: how did you get on this show? You’re like sixteen?”

“I--” Dakotah started, his cheeks tinting red. “I’m a lot older than sixteen, thank you,” He muttered, still trying to give an attitude.

nickrossi:

“Maybe so, but I’m faster than you think I am.” Nick replied, shifting his hands into his pockets. He glanced briefly at Dakotah as he caught the briefest of smiles,

“I’ll pretend to believe that,” Dakotah teased again. He didn’t actually disbelieve him, but messing with him seemed like more fun. He looked at the ground as he walked, making sure he wasn’t going to trip on anything or make unwanted eye contact with anyone else that they happened to pass by.

charlies-an-angel:

Charlie pulled back slightly, taking his hand back. “Yo- man, I don’t need all that negativity in my life. I was just sayin’ you’re on my jacket. Also, I need coffee, I was gonna offer you one.”

Dakotah looked underneath him, seeing the jacket he was sitting on and quickly pulling it out and holding it over the table. “Here.” He mumbled, using his other hand to place his bookmark in his book in case it closed. “I can buy my own coffee. Thanks though.”

nickrossi:

Nick chuckled softly as Dakotah motioned for him follow him, giving a selfless shrug of his shoulders as he followed him out the doorway. “I’m not that slow. You gotta give a guy a little slack!”

“Slow enough for me to call you out,” Dakotah teased, giving him the smallest hint of a smile. Not a full smile, of course, Dakotah sometimes forgot if he was even capable of those.

“Can I help you?” Dakotah asked, looking up from his book at the person in front of him. His voice was quiet, but sharp. Almost defensive. It might have sounded a little bit rude, even, though he wasn’t really upset. Talking to people made him nervous. He could already feel his palms sweating, but he kept his expression calm.

nickrossi:

“Ah, I guess I can see that.” Nick replied. He hadn’t ever been very shy or even reserved, so he couldn’t exactly claim to understand, but he guessed he got it. “I don’t care about the destination, perse. Let’s just see where the road takes us.”

“Okay,” Dakotah mumbled, starting to walk off in the opposite direction. “C’mon, slowpoke,” He said, turning around and waving his hand for Nick to follow him out the front door.

nickrossi:

“Is this stressful for you, then? I mean, being here.” Nick asked curiously. There were a lot of people that were on this show, and the younger looking boy seemed rather reserved. “No crowds then… we can just walk and check it out.”

“I mean. Not like-- stressful, but like--- not--- super pleasant,” He replied slowly, shrugging a shoulder. “If that makes sense. Where do you want to walk to first...?”

nickrossi:

“I mean, yeah—something like that. I kinda wanna just walk around and see what this place has. We don’t have to do too wild if you don’t want.” Nick’s brow quirked suggestively if only out of habit. “Shall we?”

“I just. Don’t like being around large groups of people for long periods of, uhm-- time,” He said, twiddling his thumbs together as he spoke. “Alright, I guess I’ll go,”

“I’d just like to go out and do something fun, y’know? I mean, not that sitting around isn’t fun sometimes, but I guess I’m just getting a little stir crazy. I guess I wanna see what this so-called magical town has to offer. So, whaddaya say?”

“When you say ‘go out and do something fun’ you mean like, go shopping or like-- see a movie, or something like-- not too wild, right?”
