☠ ┉ forty six hours -- or, was it sixty four hours now? shit, he couldn’t keep it straight anymore, he’d been up so long the hot nights blended into cool days ( or, way that the other way around? ) and time had no meaning. the clock would tick on, hour after hour, and he’d lay in bed, minute after minute, watching the time move like it was crawling miserably. when he couldn’t take it anymore, he fled to the bars -- didn’t matter which bar, just whatever was open, which happened to be this bar, this dingy little bar that served hot beer and dirty peanuts. the bartender was just a little too nosy, suggesting he go home, get some sleep, asking about his life. shit, he wasn’t a social guy, he didn’t need to have her rattling on and droning about things he wanted to forget. ❝ look, lady, i don’t need a pep-talk, what i need is whiskey. come on now, i’m not paying for conversation. ❞

ƒ —  Before she could even get outside of earshot, the voice of the stranger caught Fiona’s attention, so she turned to face him again with a confused look on her face. ❛Really? God, I must seem real stupid right now. I’m new here.❜ That was very clear to see, but she felt like there was an explanation needed for her embarrassing situation. ❛Yeah, I was trying to head downtown, but it seems that I can’t even get my directions right.❜ Shaking her head, Fiona didn’t mean to be rude. ❛I wouldn’t want to put you out, I’m sure you have better things to do, I’d hate to keep you from your work. Just point me in the right direction and I’ll be fine.❜

ƒ —  ❛Really? Shit.❜ Fiona didn’t plan for this, and her car was still in the shop after nearly exploding on the move here. She was glad for the savings that she had put away, otherwise she wouldn’t be able to afford to fix the heap of a vehicle, on top of paying for a bus ride, or in this case possibly a taxicab. ❛I guess I’ll be walking, good thing I wore my converse instead of the heels.❜ Turning around, Fiona was about to walk away when she realized how rude she was being. Turning back she fumbled for words.  ❛Thank you, sorry to have been a bother. Have a good day.❜ With that she was off to make her way to her interview, which just happened to be downtown.

this was a mistake ( he’d made so many; this wouldhardly matter ) this was more than a mistake ( but, this could get her killed ). he knew, his head knew, but his heart didn’t care. it thudded, skipped a beat,like a kid trying to rush up the stairs, missing one, missing two – ah, fuck. cheeks paled, fingers were going numb. this was the mistake to end all mistakes; the kiss to end all kisses. without any sort of agreement between said head,and said heart ( in fact, they were fighting; his bodyhowever seemed to choose the side of the heart…that treacherous bastard ) tommy reached out, hisfingers curling against her hip, his other hand upto her jawline. not a word. not a sorry. not an explanation; he didn’tneed one, the kiss would tell her all she needed to know, everything he could never tell her. it was passionate, in the clumsiest of ways. his lips crushed to hers while he pulled her body close, nearly stumbling backwards as he was unreadyfor the press of her. his teeth bumped hers, his nose hit cheek, but somehow a midst acting like a twelve year old who’d never kissed a girl before,tommy found rhythm; or, maybe she was sheet music, and he finally learned how to read her.     ( or, maybe his head just stopped fighting it;       and let his heart lead the way, just this once.                           it would save the ‘i told you so’ for later… )

He grunted in response to the comment about Wal-Mart, about munching on Baby Food. Hell, he was right along with him for the most part, but he didn’t say nothin’, not initially. Wal-Mart wasn’t a bad idea, but that place had to be picked over by now. “Only places not picked over and surrounded by Zeds.’ Pointing out with a faint cough, smacking his chest briefly with his fist, as if it’d knock the ‘build up’ loose. His brows raised for a moment, and his head tilted to the side. "Remember that Wal-Mart we saw on the edge of town with all the zombies in the parking lot? If something’s here, it’ll be there.” Yeah, but that was a lot of zombies to deal with, even with the two of them. They were hungry, thirsty, and beat down but they weren’t dead. No, for what it was worth, they were still alive.

☠ ┉  tommy was -- unarguably -- one of the least prepared, or even capable when it came to this apocalypse thing. he wasn’t particularly good at planning ( for this, at least ), he wasn’t exceptionally strong, and he certainly wasn’t on the running team in high school. all in all, tommy was the literal definition of an AVERAGE JOE trying to make it in this world ( the paranoia and ptsd didn’t really help, though ). his head nodded along as his traveling companion spoke, giving a shrug here and there, or a roll of the eyes. the sad truth was, it was all infested, there would be those crawly bastards everywhere. ❝ what about camping stores, or outdoor stores, places like that, they usually have beef jerky and shit like that, or a health food store, think anyone cleared out the protein bars? ❞
