She has become such a lonely person. She over-thinks; she is too curious; she is anxious. It almost kills her. Over time she has figured out a way she can quieten down her emotions and just feel nothing for a while. Other times it overwhelms her and she feels everything. I do not know what is worse, to feel absolutely nothing or to feel everything completely.

               the  inquiry  is  one  that  stops  her  short  of  BREATHING.  skeptically  raised.  never  as  much  as  relaying  secrets  to  the  family  dog,  T R U S T  is  not  an  ideal  she  shares  with  ANYONE.  childlike  terror  washes  over  her.  the  same  as  the  night  the  police  showed  up  at  CARLY  ARBOR’S  door  to  ask  della  to  come  down  to  the  station.  della’s  hand  clutches  her  chest,  fingernails  straining  the  fabric  and  SINKING  into  sun  kissed  flesh.  the  sole  atwood  inhales  slowly,  head  shaking  and  scooting  away  from  him.       (       all  my  fault  !  they  found  me  !  all  my  fault  !  how’d  they  find  me  ?  please,  GOD,  please  have  mercy  on  me  !  all  my  fault  !       )       handing  him  the  pistol  from  her  waistband  with  QUIVERING  hands,  she  feels  GUILTY.  doesn’t  want  him  to  be  COLLATERAL  DAMAGE.
