Any tips on translating the likeness of a person/character into an art style? I draw a lot of fan art but none of the characters I draw look anything like what they actually look like..

FIRST OF ALL im really honored that you think i can make my drawings look like the actual characters! i have a long way to go honestly but i learned a few tricks that work for me and ill explain them with ugly graphics As i do

i think theres at least 2 things to have in mind- first, the characteristics that define those characters (the face features that make that character recognizable) and second, the Feel of the character (the personality/their attitude)

i dont know what kind of character you wanna draw so This is an example for drawing Real people (tv series in this case)

this one is when i use references from 3D models of the characters And Also the actors playing them (video games mostly) 

and this one is when the characters are from comics or games, in other words when you dont have actual references from real people

im sorry for the comic sans but i hope this helps
