Announcement + Plans going forward

Hey, y'all! Sorry for the frequent disappearances :P

I've got some big ideas and am planning on revisiting some of my work on this project so I'd like to announce that I am planning on working on toons as their TOTW comes out from here on out! I think seeing the toons paid skins (such as Chef Sprout) is a good opportunity to see a bit more of the original intent and works as great inspiration for my redesigns/rewrites of the characters. Additionally, as these are intended to finalize the characters in the original game, it makes my redesigns/critique more fair if it is against their finalized versions imo! Also, also, I have been doing some design experimentation and found a QUITE different direction I want to go in regarding the art style of this project, which I will likely talk more about/explain once it has been shown.

Yes, that means Sprout will be the next toon to get a page on here. All previous character's posts will be marked as outdated, as well.

HI HELLO just wanted to say I lovee ur redesigns of the other toons! (both appearance and gameplay/ability wise! especially gameplay wise, as a lot of the toons dont feel very viable or fun to play imo and I like when people try to take a new spin on their playstyles)

Thank you!! I’m glad you like them! Yeah, while I definitely have gripes with the character designs (considering character design is my absolute favorite part of drawing) the writing and gameplay are where more of the egregious things in Dandy’s World come from in my opinion. The bloated cast that all are very one note and in a lot of circumstances do not fill a niche or justify their existences frustrates me quite a bit lol. I plan on trying to make every character feel like they have a reason to be played and a reason to exist in the game. I’m glad that’s something that shows in my designs so far! Two abilities helps with that a lot, imo, along with just generally making gameplay more engaging (it’s much more fun when you have a button you get to press to do things at strategic times/places!!)

I don’t think I’ve mentioned it anywhere yet, but I’m also balancing around the concept that you can’t stack toons. That’s sort of my trade off. All the characters will (hopefully) be fun and engaging to play, at the cost of only a maximum of one of each toon in a game

What if each toontown playground had a guardian responsible for keeping cogs out and providing treasures and such? Me and my partner @st4rbitz worked together to make some funny folks for just that purpose!

Full credit to Kay for basically all the concepts, they were super fun to interpret, finalize, and draw!! Also thanks to them for the background work, I hate formatting my art to look nice lol. I love these guys a lot so don't be surprised if you get more.

Strawberry shortcake Sprout!!

Not the typical reimagined artstyle, since this was an impulse thing made out of pure spite. I do not like how Sprout looks in game and I think all his skins are ugly.. didn't really bother me until I recently realized I REALLY enjoy playing as him and had to stare at his butt ugly face for too long. Its okay the rage helps me make better art than usual

i wonder if any of you would be interested in potentially having an extras section where I can post things like character playlists or voiceclaims- I think that could be some lower effort stuff that still kinda builds on the characters and where I plan to take them with this new (better planned/built upon) lore

I realize I have only 3 more commons left. Once I get those finished probably going to take a break from working on toons and start focusing on getting some gameplay sections filled out and posted so my vision for the game as a whole becomes clearer for y'all. Made a lethal toon for fun. Kinda a wild thing to say but based on a lot of recent stuff leading up to this update I wouldn't be surprised if we're getting a third lethal to handle the achievement system/menu. Calling it now so I can say I told you so if it happens, lol!

boy do i have thoughts on the new toon and they aren’t even out yet. whats it gonna be? new meta and making a different toon redundant or being not worth playing off rip? my money is on the latter. suppose we’ll have to wait and see tho :P
