“FINE then.” aryanna shrugged, surprised by the less than friendly response. “forget i said that. come walk with me, i promise i’m very good company.” judging by the woman’s sour expression, aryanna was less certain she wanted her company. but then surely she would offer her more entertainment than she could get if she remained on her own.
“I wanted to stretch my legs anyway,” Danelle said, petulantly. She hadn’t, but neither did she want the other to think it was her idea. She stood, pausing only for a moment to attach a thin, shimmering golden chain to the collar on the dogs neck. “Though there isn’t anywhere to go, really. King’s Landing is boring.”
SANSA hadn’t been searching for an overly spoiled lady throwing a tantrum to amuse herself. in fact, a scene such as the one unfolding before her was exactly the sort of thing had been hoping to avoid, but the sound of raised voices had drawn her in and it was in sansa’s nature to try and help. “i’m sorry to see you so upset, my lady. is there anything i can do to help? i’d be glad to assist with anything you need.”
Danelle had a sharp tongue and an explosive temper, but that didn’t necessarily mean she was particularly quick witted. Back in The Stormlands, she was used to being pandered to, but even so, the other’s words were unexpected. She wasn’t entirely sure if she was being made a fool out of or not. “So you don’t have anything better to do, either,” she said, unable to suppress a laugh. “Can you do hair? I find myself without a maid at the moment, and I can never braid the back properly myself.”
At least it was a change from all the pathetic sobbing. Not a particularly refreshing one, but a change nonetheless. “If you didn’t want an audience, then you shouldn’t have opened your mouth.” Marden didn’t know why the girl had yelled in the first place, and she also couldn’t bring herself to care. There were far more effective ways of dealing with insufficient servants than running your mouth, and if she’d learned anything since she’d been effectively imprisoned in this forsaken city it was that people would run their mouths about the smallest of things.
Spots of colour flushed high in Danelle’s cheeks. She had been a spoiled child, and that had translated directly to her adult life. Her every whim was indulged, so being answered to in such a manner was not what she had come to expect. “It’s funny, I don’t think that was my question,” she spat. The other was right, of course- but Danelle has wanted an audience. She often did. “What would you suggest, then? That I carry on allowing my maid to do a piss-poor job and say nothing?”

To look at, you wouldn’t think the petite girl could make such a shriek. And yet, Danelle had shouted so loud that half of King’s Landing had more than likely heard every word. Her maid had provoked her ire, as her maids so often did, and she had responded with one of her infamous displays of her temper. She should have known it would draw the attention of a passer-by. King’s Landing wasn’t like Stonehelm, and there was always people within earshot, but as ever, she didn’t care. “Come to enjoy the show?” She called out, dark humour glistening in her expression. “Come, sit, have some wine. I’ve got nothing better to do than perform for you like a court jester. It’s fine.”
Tossing the blade aside Benjen stood alone in the training fields. At the moment most people were staying inside but he’d never been one for that. It wasn’t possible for him to stay inside for too long, even when it was deep winter Benjen was the one sneaking outside to play much to his mothers fury. “Ah and here I thought I was alone.” he’d heard the sound of footsteps moments after the direwolf across the field perked up.
“I saw your direwolf,” Danelle said, simply, by way of greeting. She had never been one for pleasantries. “I’ve never been so close to one.” For once, her eyes were sparkling with pleasure, having such a close view of such a creature bringing out a rare side to her. “He isn’t going to rip my arm off or anything, is he? I shall have to set my spaniel on you if he does, and I don’t really fancy her chances.”
“A shame.” Leaning over the ledge facing the city she cocked her head to the side, everyone was in a panic, another ‘great’ lord killed. Augustine Hightower wasn’t a great lord, he was a coward and in the end cowards always died. “You’d think someone like that would be able to put up more of a fight. But when you live the life of a coward.” Married a woman who was betrothed and then took it to the crown when the Iron Born asked for justice. A real man would have fought the lord himself.
“People die every day,” Danelle said, seemingly unperturbed by the prospect. It wasn’t that she couldn’t see why people were rattled by it, but the dead lord was nothing to do with her, so she had very little concern to give. “Maybe he wasn’t expecting it, or didn’t care either way. Does it matter?”
ARYANNA had been unsettled for too long. with the murders and the lockdown and worrying herself sick over her siblings, she’d hardly had a moment of peace in her mind. the only times she’d found herself calm were the nights that mei snuck into her rooms. and even then those nights ended too quickly. “walk with me?” she asked an approaching figure as she wandered aimlessly through the gardens. “another moment left alone to my thoughts might just drive me mad.”
Danelle had only bothered leaving her chambers after sending her servants to check the gardens were empty. Her father could keep her in King’s Landing, separate from the only home she’d ever known, but he couldn’t force her to speak to anybody she didn’t want to- and she really didn’t want to. She had made her way down, settling on the lawn with her small dog on her lap, happily undisturbed- until the other approached. “If you’re driving yourself mad, that’s not an incentive to walk with you,” she grumbled.
( rose williams / 21 / female ) → there has been whispers around the keep that DANELLE SWANN, the LADY OF STONEHELM has been spotted. everyone knows she can be very SPLENETIC, but some may know that she can be DAUNTLESS & SPIRITED she has pledged her allegiance to HOUSE SWANN AND HOUSE BARATHEON, i wonder how long she’ll last in the capital ?
Danelle was the second and youngest child of Lord and Lady Swann, and their only daughter. Her birth was long, and exceedingly difficult on her mother. Luckily, both survived, but Lady Swann was never again able to carry a child to term.
Despite the difficulties for her birth, Danelle was adored by her parents. She was a beautiful baby, with large brown eyes and a dimple in her chin, and Lord and Lady Swann adored her. Everything she ever wanted, she was handed on a silver platter.
However, it became apparent early on that Danelle had a vile temper, which, combined with how her parent spoiled her, led to her becoming an utter brat. Her tantrums were the bane of the servant’s lives at Stonehelm, and soon throughout the entire Stormlands. As she grew, her behaviour only worsened.
Luckily, she had an elder brother, the heir to Stonehelm. Like his sister, the elder Swann child was adored by his parents. I am planning on sending in a WC for him, so I don’t want to be too specific, but I imagine he was probably a lot calmer, cleverer, and more reasonable than his sister. However, he, like his parents, had a blind spot where she was concerned, perhaps even more so. Ruling was never something he was interested in, and at the age of 18, he either joined the Kingsguard, Night’s Watch, or became a maester, and was no longer permitted to inherit Stonehelm and the title of Lord Swann. This left only one heir- Danelle.
Though Lord Swann loved his daughter dearly, he was never blind to her faults, and his son abandoning his duties was quite the scandal, given that his daughter was infamous for her fiery, impulsive, and unreasonable behaviour. Stonehelm could not be left in the hands of a petulant child, so the only hope of House Swann was to find Danelle a good husband.
However, that’s easier said than done. Danelle’s spiteful streak had often been underestimated by potential suitors- until they meet her. At only 21, she has a string of broken engagements and failed courtships, and is far too stubborn to hold her less desirable traits at bay.
Despite her prickly demeanour, her soft side comes out when she’s around dogs and horses, and some of the only humans she’s friendly towards are those who treat animals with kindness.
