Santana laughed softly. “It is totally high school, but I’d be happy to.” She tucked her phone between her head and her pillow and got comfortable on her side. “I love you, D. I’ll be home in a couple of days, okay. Next time I come to see my parents, please come with me.” She could feel herself already starting to relax.

Dani smiled.  “I love you too, baby...” She put her phone on speaker and set it down on the armrest right above her head.  She sighed contently.  “When you wake up, can you wake me up?” She askes softly.  “I would love to visit your parents.  I think that’ll be fun...” She started to relax instantly and closed her eyes.  “I love you, baby... Goodnight.”

Santana hummed softly, smiling. “I’m glad I came out of my shell too.” Her smile grew some more as she listened to Dani speaking. “Don’t worry, baby. I feel the same way about you. I don’t care that you’re some superstar that I work for. I fell in love with you. I get to see what the public doesn’t and that’s what I fell in love with.”

Dani smiled and wrapped her arms around herself.  Her girlfriend was amazing with her words.  “I love you, San.  Can... you fall asleep with me tonight?  I know it’s stupid and totally high school but...  I’d be nice knowing that you were kind of here with me.”

She nodded even though Dani couldn’t see her. “Well, you’d never believe it, but I was really shy when I was a kid.” She started off softly as she closed her eyes to relax. “I was shy because of how I was… being different. I didn’t really come out of my shell until I hit high school.” She sighed softly as she remembered how closed off she had been.

Dani kind of was the same way.  “Really?  Well... I’m glad that you did come out of your shell.” It made Santana who she was today.  “San... I love you.  You know that, don’t you?  I don’t love you because of what you have, but I love you because of who you are...” She really hoped that made sense. “I love you... And I honestly don’t see myself with anyone else.”

Santana heard the rustling some and figured Dani was getting comfortable. “Well, you can call me any time you want to baby. I’m always here for you.” Santana shifted back down the bed some to curl up onto her side. “We can go and look when I get back to LA.” Santana bit her lip softly. Santana practically lived with Dani anyway, but Santana was treating this like it was them getting the dog, not just Dani.

Dani smiled softly.  “I know you are... I love you...” She closed her eyes and listened to Santana speak.  This was what she needed.  “Can you just tell me about yourself?  Like... when you were a kid.  What were you like?” She asked her.  She just needed to take he rmind off of everything.  And this was, so far, working.

“Baby, take a breath with me. You’re okay. You have the cops watching your house 24/7 even when I’m there with you. This is no different, okay?” Santana suddenly hated that she was on the other side of the country and couldn’t wrap her arms around Dani to show her that she was safe. “What can I do to make it better for you, DD?”

“I know... I’m just paranoid... the crazy girlfriend, I suppose,” she smiled sadly and wiped at her eyes again.  “I just want to hear your voice, that’s all...  I haven’t talked to you all day.  I just missed you...” She laid down on the couch and pulled the blanket up to her chest.  “I think I’m going to get a dog.”

When she heard her voice crack, she frowned. “Baby… what’s going on in that beautiful head of yours. Talk to me.” Santana propped herself up on some pillows so she could stay awake, not that she’d have any problems with that anyway, not when Dani needed her. She’d stay awake all night if that’s what her girlfriend needed of her.

Dani frowned and closed her eyes, taking a sip of her wine.  “I just...  I’m just scared.  And I needed to hear your voice.” She relaxed against the couch.  “I know that no one is but... I have that feeling like someone is watching me, and it might just be the alcohol... and I know there’s cops outside but...” She sniffled and wiped at her eyes.  “I’m sorry... I’m just kinda drunk and I’m freaking out a little...”

Santana sat up in bed. She frowned when she heard the slight slur in her girlfriend’s voice. “I miss you too, honey. My parents are good, they were asking about you. They want you to come and visit one of these times with me.” She reached over to turn the bedside lamp on. “Is Riley still there with you?” Santana liked the fact that the other girl had stayed some at the house while she’d been gone.

Dani shook her head.  “She went home.  I made her go home.” She looked down and felt another tear fall.  “I miss you,” her voice cracked.  She just needed to hear Santana’s voice.  She had nights where she was okay, but other nights where Dani was scared to death of what might happen if she closed her eyes.  She looked outside and saw the cops sitting in their police cars.  She sighed.

Santana rolled over in bed when she heard the phone ringing. It took her a moment to wake up before she was conscious enough to slide her finger across the screen. “Hello?” She said as she ran her hand across her face. Santana pulled her phone away from her ear to see who it was, then smiled. “Hey baby, sorry I was asleep.” She perked up a little bit at seeing Dani’s name on her screen.

Dani was drunk.  Pretty damn drunk.  “Hey...” She said when Santana answered.  She took another sip.  “I miss you...  How’s your parents?” She asked innocently.  She didn’t want Santana to worry.  “I’m sorry I woke you up... I just needed to talk to someone other than Riley.

Dani had been drinking with Riley for the last few hours and was pretty well drunk.  She couldn’t stop thinking though.  After Riley left, she curled up on the couch with a glass of wine.  She swallowed thickly.  She was kind of scared.  She was thinking about everything that had happened over the last couple of months.  The stalker had ruined her life, and almost her career, and was being delusional.  She felt a tear fall from her face and closed her eyes.  She took a deep breath and grabbed her phone.  She found Santana’s name and hit call.
