Final Documentation

For the final documentation we did end up going to Miami beach to film. when we got there we headed straight to the beach, picked a spot to put down our things and started walking along the shore. A friend joined to film us because we all wanted to be in the video all together. This worked out perfectly because I feel the more people you see in frame with the shirts on the more impact the meaning translates. Not even 2 minutes of holding hands and manoeuvring around people two ladies asked us what we were doing. and wanted to take a picture with us. I was surprised because i honestly didn't think anyone was going to come up to us at the beach of all places. because the beach is somewhere you go to relax and have fun, not for an intervention.

For our message itself, "they are swindling away our rights" and "nos estan quitando los derechos" did go through. We got stares and people come up to us curious about what we were doing. I feel like the beach was the perfect place to do this because it’s such a public, open space where people from all walks of life come together. It allowed our message to reach a diverse audience in a setting that felt both relaxed and powerful. I went into this final project with 0 expectations and I believe it came out really well. I bonded so well with my group mates. We all respected each others busy schedule and planned accordingly. And ended up having a blast. We arrived to Miami Beach to film our art project and left Miami Beach as a successful hangout. Not only did our message succeed in getting peoples attention but the experience also brought us closer together as a team.

Proposal (Final)

For our final proposal we decided to stick with the plain white tee idea. For this we are planning to buy shirts and iron on letters, writing a part of our sentence on the front and back. Some of us are going to have a phrase in English on the front and Spanish in the back and vice versa. We are planning to go Miami Beach and walk along the shore and around people, trying to get into their way to make them look at us.

Proposal 3

For this proposal we are going to put our sentence or part of our sentence on a plain white tee. and walk around a public area, trying to get peoples attention.

For this proposal we were thinking of writing our sentence on a big canvas or thick cardboard then cutting it up into puzzle pieces. going to a busy area with space to walk around and to have people try to put the pieces together in the end spelling out our message.

For this proposal we were thinking of giving out water at a busy park for free with our message hidden on the label of the water bottles.

COMMENT This quote stood out to me because it captures how powerful content is in shaping perception online. Kruger’s art directly confronts how the media for example shapes the way we see ourselves and others. I relate to this as someone who scrolls through social media daily. it’s easy to believe and apply things we see that tell us who we should be. Kruger reminds us to question that influence is strong and to recognize how constructed these narratives are.

QUESTION How do you think the constant exposure to social media (like Instagram or TikTok) affects how we form our identities, or even judge others? Can we ever fully separate ourselves from the influence it has on us?
