Fan art of my character on the podcast Nerd Poker: Dungeons and Dragons with Brian Posehn and Friends.
Hey, did you know I'm a regular on the Nerd Poker podcast now? It's true! I have a total blast. And this fan art is sweet as hell. artbybeaver:
Fan-art for the Nerd Poker podcast! If ever you wanted to hear Brian Posehn and his Amazing Friends play D&D on-mic, this here is an age to be alive.
This week the gang continued their exploration of the Archipelago of Many Colors by entering the lands of the Blue Giants. Turns out that includes wolves.
Yayayayaaay! I designed this poster for Dan Telfer’s upcoming Album Recording for AST Records! Live at the Nerdmelt Theater! Dan is incredibly funny and also the nicest! You’d be a goddamned fool NOT to be in attendance.
————————————-
*Side-note: A long time ago, before Dan or anyone else was even peripherally aware of me or my work, I was a stressed-out grad student having an especially bad week. A film I’d worked hard on was rejected from a screening I’d really wanted to get into. ”Why am I doing this?” I thought. ”Maybe I’m just not cut out for art or animation or anything at all etc etc etc ANGST.” A friend sent me a link to this video in an effort to cheer me up and I ended up laughing until I cried and gasped for air. I must have watched it dozens of times. I then took a deep breath, brushed myself off, and got back to work.
It greatly pleases me that Dan approached me a handful of years later and asked me to design a poster for him—what a small, neat world! I’m so glad that I was able to give back a little to someone who, in the simplest way, motivated me to keep trying, keep going, to buck up and move forward—to arrive at this point of mutual respect and admiration. Thank you, Dan!
Reserve your seats here. And thanks Sara! I am super excited for this show, and thrilled that I got to work with a badass designer on it. She's a fixture on the comedy scene in addition to being a great animator and illustrator (who's worked on effing COSMOS) and I've loved her stuff for a long time!
Beats.
This is what happens when dantelfer does his dinosaur stand up set on peteholmesshow. It’s beautiful.
Watch it here because I said so: http://bit.ly/TelferHolmes
It has happened. I have been memed.
If my orbit appears irregular it's because I encountered the gravity of Neil deGrasse Tyson last night.
Believe it or not, last night's episode is flying free across the internet! Catch it!
Today it's been one year since I moved to LA. Very happy to be working.
Hang in there, little fella. We're almost there.
So many exciting things going on for Dan Telfer! 1. He released a new EP! Listen here. 2. He will be here in 11 days. Tickets: http://bit.ly/17RWVth 3. He is recording that show!
My Chicago show is soon! Get all up on it, my friends.
Listen/purchase: The Pacman Always Rings Twice by Dan Telfer
Hey gang! Today I released an EP that I put together myself as a little holiday job. It was recorded at my Tendrils of Ruin CD release party (except for the bonus track, which is from a year prior).
I did a 90+ minute set that night, and this features my favorite 35 minutes or so. Track 1 and 3 are mostly audience interaction, Track 2 is the inspiration for the title and cover art- a long story about the time that I made intentionally lame tweets on a very dark and introspective night.
That cover art, by the way, is by the amazingly talented Dave Kloc. You should buy something of his too.
It's marked pay what you can, but I'm hoping to make a little holiday cash from it so I hope you'll consider throwing me whatever cash you can! Cheers, Dan
Hey guys, I'm working as the Social Media Producer on @midnight, Chris Hardwick's new show premiering on Comedy Central on 10/21! Get up on this hashtag game, won't you? atmidnightcc:
we’re playing a hashtag game on twitter so come play now @midnight
Dan Telfer has just uploaded a long 24 min. set of his stand-up on Vimeo, free to watch, but hopefully for PayPal donations. If you were unaware, with commercials, most half hour stand up specials on TV actually time out to just under that time.
Basically, Dan’s giving you a half hour special for whatever you want to pay and you should take advantage of this.
I have decided to release this 24 minute set of my stand-up free to everyone. For a long time I had this recording on ice and was showing it to TV type people. When those TV people did not bite, I was reluctant to share the set.
Comedians were starting to release entire hours on the internet for $5, and I was neither famous enough to make a lot of money that way, nor did I have the savings to host the video myself and sell it without another site skimming a ton of money off the top. But then I started retiring all of this material, and what wasn't already on my EP got released on my full length CD, and it felt silly to hoard it. So here you are! The emcee is my old pal Ricky Carmona, who was instrumental in helping me transition out to LA this year, where he'd been for almost two years. When I recorded this we both lived in Chicago. Also I had just come off recording Pop Pilgrims for The A.V. Club and had an amazing time travelling with the editorial staff and the production guys at Picture Show (who also record A.V. Undercover). Brendan and Jaime of Picture Show agreed to tape and edit the set, and I am really happy with how it turned out. Since I released it on social media yesterday, a few people have been generous enough to leave me tips via the PayPal donation button on the right side of this page. My family and I are still recovering from the cost of a cross-country move, and those donations mean a lot to me. Thanks so much if you're able to throw some coins in that well. So yeah! The whole reason you probably know who I am is because of that one bit I did on the internet. I do it here, again, for longer. I should be putting more of my comedy on the internet. It has been good to me. I owe you this. Thanks for everything so far, pixellated pals.
We asked Dan Telfer to name his five most favoritest tweets. You can follow him on Twitter here. He’s a stand-up and writer in Los Angeles, so you should hire him to comedize!
