21/11/2012 - Giving Blood
Today was a glorious day as I woke up this morning and after having a lovely omlette decided to book an appointment to give blood.
I have never given blood before, recently had a blood test, nothing serious don’t worry, but I passed that with flying colours, red ones that shot out my forearm. Whilst gaining supreme man points (tally currently at +14) for watching the needle go in I watched the blood fill 3 vials before standing strongly unfased by the incident. I noticed how great and strong my blood looked and having never known my blood type I contacted the medical department.
Now as any hematologist knows blood is mainly made up of 5 things, Plasma, Platelets, White Blood Cells, Red Blood Cells and Awesome Cells. Now it wouldn’t suprise you to know that the Awesome Cells vary from person to person and it also wouldn’t suprise you to know I have a very high count of these Awesome Cells.
Upon receiving this news, although I kind of already knew in a way, I decided that keeping this awesome blood to myself is although deserved rather selfish. Blood stocks are down and even lower in blood of type:Awesome. I recently signed up to be a donor and today I woke and booked my appointment to give my first pint of blood, although once they realise what type I have they might try to take more, I may take my own milk bottle just to check they aren’t trying to pull a fast one.
Now not to get too scientific on those who aren’t up to date with blood, but your blood type is genetic, however you can turn any blood into awesome blood. If you are a Blood Type AB- you can by applying yourself turn this into a AB-Awesome.
