some of you keep pissing me off with these "observation" posts
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. while modern/psychological astrology would attribute personality to every planet in your chart, if you want to figure out what someone is like using traditional astrology look at their asc, asc lord, moon, mercury, lot of fortune and their lot of spirit these represent the native and their mind and thus how they behave in the world. Also use overall chart temperament that's very helpful too
btw traditional astrology did have a few ways of predicting somebody's personality but it was usually the shortest sections of their readings, if the reading even called for it, because predicting personality was never their sole focus the main reading was predicting an event in their life
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. no jupiter in 2H doesn't mean the person is greedy. jupiter is a benefic that signifies mercifulness, freedom and good treatment of others unless jupiter is maltreated by malefics or conjuncted with the nodes it won't signify hoarding wealth and exploiting others
okay i admit i used to think 2H jupiter was greed too but I know better now.
elon musk became a trillionaire he doesn't have jupiter in 2H but you know what he does have? jupiter aspected by mars and saturn.
and on top of that hoarding isn't even a jupiter quality, that's a saturn quality, more specifically aquarius and even libra (exaltation of saturn) and saturn is the extremism people associate with pluto. here's some text examples if you don't believe me.
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. no jupiter is not your husband in hellenistic or traditional tropical astrology. this is something somebody borrowed from sidereal indic/vedic astrology and applied it here. if you practice vedic with a tropical zodiac idk why you would but this isn't about you then.
traditional astrologers [sometimes] took mars as the husband in the chart because the domiciles of venus and mars are 7H to each other. jk that's not the reason I don't know the actual reason behind this but that's what they considered and I don't usually agree with it.
Jupiter does rule unions and love. it's the unions of large groups of people with the same belief that's why it rejoices in 11H. Dorotheus also used jupiter for the timing of marriages (just for timing btw).
I will say that I did like the idea of jupiter being the husband since the significator of the wife is also a benefic (venus). The funny thing is that 2 years ago I used to follow an indian astrologer who used mars as indicator for husband cause she hated the concept of jupiter being the husband due to the culture around husbands and marriage in india she would've loved this today
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. everyone who is into astrology who should have more discernment and question the astrology blogs they consume content/knowledge from a little more. ask them their sources, ask them where they got this idea from, ask them to give chart examples of whatever observation they're claiming.
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. for new traditional astrologers, i think you should read beginner's books or introductory books on traditional astrology before picking up traditional texts like valens or abu ma'shar
valens anthologies and abu ma'shar's books contain translated significations of houses, planets, and signs and many more astrological concepts however it is important to know how they used to do chart readings and delineate certain placements from introductory books first and practice with birth charts of other people. like trust me it'll make things a lot easier for you in astrology
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. in relation to the last note, having an open mind and being strict are both really important for practicing traditional astrology. you have to be a little strict cause you don't want to be talking out of your ass and you should be able to keep an open mind without immediate dismissal just becus ancient astrologers hadn't said it, cus they also had new ideas in astrology that previously wasn't used before
3H didn't signify writing originally, but after the studies of charts of writers with numerous 3H placements, writing slowly became part of the signification. same thing with 9H and publishing.
firmicus had a text where he said mercury in 12H is actually a good placement intellectually, pretty sure no other astrologer would've agreed with him.
before persian astrologers, nobody considered 4H to be father and 10H to be mother specifically or 7H to also include business partners or 5H to be investments. their contributions changed a lot in astrology
this isn't the case for every planet or house but it's important to keep in mind sometimes
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. your chart isn't just you and your hardships it's also the people in your life. whether you hurt other people or not is also shown by your chart. there are so many people with a chart that indicate living a difficult life but then you find out they're the difficulty in everybody else's lives
this is a reason why I think everybody in the astrology community could benefit a little by detaching from their charts and prevent over-identification with their placements
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. this one is a shot at a few new traditional astrologers but yes virgo is work whether you believe it or not tf. our definition of work is related to cooperate work this wasn't the case in the times of ancient astrology.
valens called virgo industrious but it isn't a workaholic in the cooperate sense. virgo signifies being dutiful to craftsmanship. venus is fallen in virgo because being dutiful to your craft often means ignoring and disregarding pleasures.
also you can literally see astrological significations in the real world like mercury rules athletes/sports what's the number one myth of sports? that you shouldn't have sex before a game cause it ruins performance that's literally venus's fall in virgo 😭
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. controversial but 6H does signify work due to the trine to 10H but it's similar to the lot of necessity. it signifies obligatory work, work you can't opt out of and the work that tires/ails your body. Both paulus and valens had a similar statement about 6H due to the trine to 10H but aversion to 1H and that it's ailment to the physical self but useful in regards of determining occupation
if your room is really dirty, you're obligated to clean it. if you clean it it will tire you out and if you don't you will fall ill. that's 6H. a pornstar or even a tradwife in a misogynistic nation may have venus in 6H or 6H-5H or 6H-7H connection because sex isn't a pleasurable activity anymore it becomes a duty and obligation due to their work and reputation.
similarly a performer, can have mercury influence on 6H with 5H connection because entertaining and performing for others is mandatory for their job.
₊˚‧ ۶ৎ ˚. astrology can be very literal btw i know everyone always says this but I also think that most people often forget it. sometimes the answers in a chart are just right in front of you and you don't have to look in too much
