you’re back!!

Trying my absolute best to be! College is... an adjustment. A really big adjustment.

What with the new buzz around Who Killed Markiplier?, I reckon I should start considering theories and and perhaps thinking of some myself. Along with the plethora of requests that have been sitting in the inbox for approximately 5 months. I haven’t forgotten about y’all, I’m just very bad at time management.

That being said, feel free to make submissions or consider some headcanons or theories yourself! I think I still need to ease myself back into writing. I’m very, very rusty.

Have you ever heard the song "Counting Bodies Like Sheep to the Rhythm of the Wardrums"? I feel like it's perfect for Dark. It's full of language that reminds me so much of Dark, like "safe from pain, and truth, and choice, and other poison devils — see, they don't give a f*ck about you... like I do," it just screams of Dark. Plus, it's super creepy sounding (in a good way).

Ooh, I very much agree! So much so, in fact, that I had discussed this with tumblr user nerdiestpinup previously! Back in May. A really long time ago. It’s also on the almost 2-hour long fanmix I made for Dark waaaay back when. For those lines that you pointed out exactly! And the verse at the end, especially the line “I’ll be the one to protect you from a will to survive and a voice of reason.”

However, as I listened to more of A Perfect Circle, there’s Pet, which perhaps fits better. It has the same lyrics that made me think of Dark with Counting Bodies, plus some different lyrics, such as “Just stay with me, safe and ignorant.” Both songs fit him very well, especially when you look at the more violent side (Counting Bodies) or the more manipulative and possessive side (Pet)

Absolutely! Perhaps I can write some vaguely Halloween-themed things to get into the spirit and also because I love trying my hand with horror and suspense.

Also I’m tempted to cosplay Anti for Halloween, but let’s put that on the back-burner for now.

Idk if this means anything, but Darkiplier will always, always remind me of Richard from Hotline Miami. (fair warning: there will be mindfucks should you decide to google him)

note to self: maybe actually watch someone play Hotline Miami or play it myself

After a bit of research, I can definitely see where you’re coming from! Richard seems very mysterious and cryptic, knowing more than he lets on. While I don’t know Richard too in-depth, I’m getting those sort of vibes that are comparable to Dark’s. 

I’d love to go back into this when I’ve actually experienced Hotline Miami because it seems very intriguing.

Okay real talk I'm super happy you're back. You're one of my favorite writers. You really nail Dark as a character. Good luck with school and all, I hope you can find time to write more, but as someone who just stared college myself, I can understand why you wouldn't. Either way, glad to see you're doing well. 👍

Yeah but college is certainly something else. But now I can just chill in my dorm and get into my writing mindset a lot easier than I could at home. So hopefully this will be a nice improvement!

Doubt

You stared blankly at the flames dancing in the fireplace. Something didn’t quite sit right with you, making sleep nigh impossible. If you could determine exactly what it was, then perhaps you could banish the anxiety from your mind and actually get some rest. Drawing the blankets tighter around you, you stared harder into the fire. Maybe if you sat long enough, something would come to you. Or maybe you’d get tired and fall asleep on the couch.

“Are you okay?”

A deep, steady voice drew you from your contemplation. You looked away from the fire and in the general direction of the voice. You didn’t want to turn on any lights out of concern of waking him up, yet you could make out his figure in the dull yet warm glow of the fire.

“Yeah, I just... couldn’t get to sleep. What are you doing up, Dark?”

“The same reason that you’re up,” he responded, coming closer to take a seat beside you on the couch. Unfortunately, the vague answer prodded more at your anxiety and you began to have an idea of why you found sleep so evasive. “You looked deep in thought. Please continue. No need to stop on my account.”

You shook your head gently. “No, it’s okay.” You considered leaning onto Dark’s arm but something nagged at you to keep your distance. “I was just wondering what was keeping me up.” 

“Oh?” Dark raised his eyebrows. “And have you figured it out?”

‘I suddenly feel endangered being near you’ didn’t sound like it would be a good answer so you just shook your head. “No. But it’ll be okay.”

You had never found it so difficult to say those words before.

Life update (or something)

Hello! This blog has been inactive for... about 3 months now? And plenty has happened in those months.

If time was not spent working, it was spent in preparation for college. However, as August nears its end, the time for me to move into my next stage of life draws nearer.

So what does this mean for the blog? Hopefully, after all is said and done, I plan to become more active following this week!

Tomorrow, I’m actually moving into my dorm and my classes start on the 6th. Once I’ve adjusted mentally and formed a schedule for myself, I plan to take more time to sit and write.

I appreciate every one of you for bearing with me through the silence which will hopefully be ended very soon!

I hope you continue to enjoy the content I plan to (finally) get around to and the reblogs from the amazing creators here!

Unfortunately, life seems to have tripped up my speed a bit, and I’d rather wait until I can be sure in my writing instead of throwing out something super rushed. I guess it’s because I get hyper-focused when I have the time to sit and write.

Counting Bodies... by A Perfect Circle is one of my favourite tracks by them! I do think it's perhaps a little too physically violent for Dark? In my head Dark is a lot more psychological (hence choosing Imagine, instead) and only resorts to physical attacks either out of principal or as a final option (and may heaven help you should it come to that.)

You’re very right, actually. Now that I’m considering it, maybe Pet by A Perfect Circle would be a better alternative to Counting Bodies... since it has all of the same lyrics that caused me to relate that song to Dark while also not being so violent. And then some, actually.

Though Imagine does fit Dark as per the psychological aspect of things. And goodness, I don’t think even Heaven can help someone if Dark decides violence is the only option.

Whoops premature send oopsie! Sorry bout that... meant to ask: what does Dark do when he's done manipulating someone? Like they trust him already and would follow him anywhere? Would he use them to get more people? If so, what next?

No problem! I’m always scared I’m gonna do that when I send someone an ask.

As long as they retain their usefulness to him, I don’t think he would simply drop them. If he can condition them to assist him in making people lower their guard and fall to his charms, then he will. I don’t think Dark would want to stop until he has all of humanity under his grasp.

Why? No one’s really sure, but after all is said and done, perhaps he just wants nothing but power.

Now I’m thinking, what if Dark thrives on power? Maybe that’s why he wants to be in control at all times.

That’s an entire other rabbit hole, though, I think.

Again leading from a theater ask, if Darks POI was going to be acting, and having to kiss someone, how would he act?

He understands all too well that what you do when you’re acting does not reflect your true feelings.

For the most part, he’ll trust POI that it’s just an act, but he doesn’t quite trust the actor they need to kiss. If they start to enjoy a little too much, Dark will be sure to let them know that he’s the one who has POI’s attention. No intimidation in front of POI, of course, but POI can’t quite figure out why the other actor seems a bit hesitant to act out that scene on nights when Dark is in the audience.

I mentioned Buffy in my previous ask about human/figment hybrids more to get that badass element to this individual, but it would probably be more like Zoe in Dreamfall (if you've not seen/played Dreamfall, I loved Cryaotic's playthrough). The underlying theme of the game is restoring balance between worlds; Figments are becoming so apparent the balance is shifting and we need kind of a gate keeper. I just think it's a cool concept that the Keeper is neither one, nor the other, but both. Hybrid.

It’s been so long since I’ve watched that playthrough, honestly. It was a good one, though!

That would be a super cool concept, honestly. I think Dark would prioritize someone like that, since their power would be unparalleled.
