Handcuffs & Daddy Issues
Something about the flash had been wrong, she knew that much for a fact. Perhaps it was a coincidence, and her father was a totally different Jack Burton, or perhaps that was just in her file by mistake. The intel in Chuck’s head, after all, all came from a CIA-NSA database - something in there could have been inputted wrong, something could be false information. There had to be some kind of explanation for all of this. If they were claiming their dad was the same Jack Burton, then perhaps she’d lied about it, heard of him via a con, and claimed him as her father to get out of something. That had to be it. She didn’t have a sister.
Despite convincing herself it had to be some kind of a mistake, there was a sense of hostility growing, as she headed into the interrogation room, prepared to face the girl Chuck believed to be her half-sister. There was the baby from Budapest, a baby her mother was raising, who she’d never get to meet, and she was the closest to a half-sister she’d ever have. This criminal, this woman working for Volkoff…she was no more related to her than Volkoff himself was. It was ridiculous.
Ignoring the smile from Chuck - what the hell was he doing? They were here to do a job, not to be friendly with someone they’d arrested - she took the key from him, striding over towards Sabrina. The cuffs were unlocked, and pocketed, lest she try to use them to cuff one of them, or something. Criminals would try anything, even down in a CIA base, and though she doubted if this woman was stupid, there was no telling what she’d attempt to do to get away from them. “Alright, now your hair is no longer a problem, you’re going to tell us everything you know about Volkoff.”
“Ugh, about time!“ Sabrina said, where a ‘thank you’ ought to be. She scratched at the patch of scalp that had been yanked and finger teased her hair into their perfect blonde waves again. She leaned over to peer past Sarah to the mirror-that-wasn’t-really-a-mirror-but-worked-just-as-good-as-one and, when content, righted her chair and dropped down into it. “You folks really know how to show a girl a good time, don’t you?“
Chuck stepped back into a corner, looking down at his shoes as Sarah brought up Volkoff, rather than her father and considering, for a moment, asking her about him himself. Probably best not. Besides, Sarah needed to take this at her own pace.
Eyeing him, Sabrina decided that her initial impression that he was no threat - maybe he was this woman’s assistant or an intern or something (did the CIA have interns?). She turned her attention back to Sarah. “Okay, but I want protection. First time I met one of his guys they threatened lead and a cold swim... and for a really, really petty reason too.“
“That depends on what you have to say,“ Chuck piped up.
“Oh come on, I gotta ask, don’t I? Sorta goes with the script. ‘Tell us what you know!’ ‘I’ll talk, but I want immunity!’ We might be here for a while. Nerd Herd, you want to take notes, maybe?” She drummed her fingers on the desk. What did she know about Volkoff? That was a good question, really. He paid the bills and was just like every other rich asshole, only without the burden of working within the law. “Vell,“ she said, in a pristine Russian accent, “he is one more rich asshole with little kolbasa, if you know vhat I mean?“

“Your bartender cut me off,“ Sabrina said, using the back of the seat to ensure her unsteadiness wouldn’t undercut her argument, “and I hear you’re the one to talk to about that. As you can see, I’m still fully capable of forming coherent sentences.“
Baby Dolls & Cool Aunts
There was no way Emma-Marie was going to turn down a new doll, regardless of what it looked like. It was still an exciting gift from her Aunt, and she gasped eagerly, reaching out for it. “Thanks, Aunt Brina! She’s really pretty, like you. If I practice with this baby, then maybe I’ll finally get to have a baby sister. Do you think?”
Brina? Seriously? “Brina” handed the doll over and snorted, “Oh, honey, if you want a baby sister, go to bed when you’re supposed to so ‘mommy’ and ‘daddy’ can have some alone time.” That she had a sister had been shock enough, but she was still wrapping her head around the rugrat. “So you want a sister, huh? Why?”

Handcuffs & Daddy Issues
As far as Sarah was concerned, it wasn’t good news. Nothing about this felt good, not in the slightest. A few years younger than her? She’d been five when she and her father had left her mom’s house, when she’d ended up staying with her grandparents on and off, only going with her dad when he came to pick her up. He’d lied to her, or else he hadn’t known he had another daughter - and either way, this meant he’d been with someone else behind her mother’s back, didn’t it? She’d known he’d done a lot of bad things, that conning hardly made him a good man, but she still loved him, still trusted him. This felt like a sure fire way to shatter that trust. Could he really have lied about a daughter for all these years?
“But he never…he never told me about her. You met my father, Chuck - I know what he’s like, but he doesn’t keep things from me.” She’d been privy to all of his cons, helped him time and time again - how could he keep something like this from her?
A sister. Growing up, she’d always longed for a sibling, for someone to play with, someone to understand what her childhood was like. As she’d gotten older, she’d realised that she shouldn’t wish that on anyone, shouldn’t be hoping they’d have had the same crappy childhood as her…but had she? Sabrina, not Aimee. Sabrina, her sister - had Sabrina known what their father did? Had she been just as involved?
No. It had to be some kind of a mistake. Clearly she was a criminal, but not a conwoman, and not her sister. There was no way. Knowing there was nothing else she could say to Chuck, no way she could convince them both he was wrong, and instead, she got to her feet, heading towards the interrogation room. She needed to speak to her…just for intel, nothing else. They weren’t related. “Are you coming?”
Chuck’s mouth opened and closed helplessly. He wouldn’t have suspected a secret like this of Jack either, but then he’d not gotten the impression that straight forward was Jack’s style. “Maybe he -” It was probably for the best that Chuck didn’t get the chance to finish that sentence. Instead, he let out a sigh and nodded. “Yeah, yeah I’m coming. You know, it might be nice. Family reunion? No... Okay, just gonna -” he trailed after Sarah, snatching the handcuff keys off a shelf as they went past.
As they reached the interrogation room, Chuck keyed in the code to the doors and they clicked open.
“Took you long enough,” Sabrina grumbled, holding up the cuffs which brought a lock of blonde hair with them. She regarded the pair. The gangly young man in the polyester tie was new. Was that a Buy More uniform? What was the CIA coming to if their agents had to take day jobs at electronics stores? Tacky. He didn’t exactly look like a seasoned agent, however, which might work to her advantage. The woman, however, was a different story. Less tacky, less of an advantage. At least the guy who looked like he’d walked off the cover of Guns & Ammo was gone.
Sabrina ratted the cuffs pointedly. “Do you mind? ‘Cause this was a three hundred dollar haircut and I think ruining it qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment.”
Normally, Chuck would have rushed to her assistance, but considering the familial connection he offered the keys out to Sarah. Bonding moment? He gave a short nod of his head over to her and gave his girlfriend a small smile, “Go on.”
