♡Ask/Rp blog for Retsnom!Darumi and Eito from The Hundred Line Last Defense Acadamy!♡
♡Spoilers for route 0 and Retsnom route, but I'm gonna avoiding spoilers for anything else, but I might slip up.♡
♡(Also generally gonna play fast and loose with canon.)♡
♡Mod: Lane. Pronouns: she/it Age: old enough to forget (adult)♡
♡I've 100%ed the game, so no worries about spoiling me~! But I haven't rped in...10? Years and honestly ive barely used tumblr in that time so I'm gonna do my best. Also a multishipper and especially love polyships so while eito and darumi are together that doesn't mean they're unavailable hehe :3.♡
Mi-kun: No, no. Don't scare him like that. They're just doing a patrol, they'll be back soon.
They've had to go out more since we moved, and Jorm's been more on edge. But we have Hiruko now, and she's been able to help. With more people patrolling, things are a little easier. Whoever of us doesn't go out stays home and works on cleaning up the school, making it more liveable, since, you know, school aren't known for being made to live in. I know those other students live in a school, but this one isn't like that, it's just a normal school. A normal abandon school, but still.
Darumi’s pigtails swayed as she casually walked along. She twirled a knife in her hands, not really thinking about anything. Definitely not watching their surroundings. Eito could handle that, he’d let her know if there was anything to be worried about.
“Should we check in with Other-Eito while we’re there?” She wondered out loud.
“Probably not. We should avoid being seen by anyone, I’d say.” Eito was a lot more tense than his partner. He wasn’t afraid of battle pets or most of the SDU, but he wouldn’t be caught off guard.
“Okay then, stealth mission.”
He nodded. He’d rather his doubles not know how often they visited the schools for supplies. And the Takumis- especially the two in the dark universe- very much did not need to know.
They arrived at the bunker with the strange interdimesional machine. Eito entered first, with Darumi a step behind.
“You’re finally here.” A voice inside spoke, startling the pair. Eito moved to defend, raising his scythe and putting himself between Darumi and the speaker. He wouldn’t attack, not without instruction or cause to do so, but if they even thought about touching Darumi they’d have to go through him.
The stranger– a woman in a lab coat– didn’t move. She didn’t seem to be carrying any weapons, but there was a bag next to her, which could be hiding anything. There was a power saw in the corner of the room, closer to them than her. She wasn’t hiding it and it didn’t seem she was going to use it. A show of trust.
“Who are you?” He demanded. Her posture seemed familiar, but he couldn’t be quite…
“Hm.” She crossed her arms. “If I remember correctly, I wasn’t your Mistress in your timeline…”
Darumi looked away awkwardly. “I uh…remember some more now..”
“How interesting. And how exactly did you manage that?”
“It doesn’t matter.” Eito interrupted taking a step forward. “You’re not involved.”
The woman sighed. “Whoever you think I am, I’m not her. I don’t imagine you can see it, but I’m sure I’m nearly thrice the age of whatever Hiruko you know.”
He frowned. He wasn't good at telling the age of humans, but usually he could get some sense. Everything he could tell about this woman said she was still young. Not how he would think of a mature woman. But he had also usually become good at recognizing the other members of the SDU on sight. Why was this woman, this Hiruko, defying everything he had learned to rely on with his vision?
Eito tightened his grip on his scythe. Hiruko noticed and rolled her eyes. “Can you tell him to stand down? We have a lot to discuss and not much time.”
“Eito?” Darumi asked, not ordered.
He should listen to her, but he was too afraid this was a trap. He held firm.
“Fine. I have a gift for Darumi. You can examine it, and I'll explain. Then see if you trust me.”
She kicked the bag forward. It stopped a few feet in front of Eito; he cut it open.
Inside was a forearm that had been indelicately severed from its body.
“It's from this timeline's Hiruko.” The woman in the lab coat explained with no emotion. “With this, you'll be able to remember a lot more timelines.”
Darumi stepped forward from behind Eito. He lowered his weapon and let her pass. He could see the thoughts working behind her eyes. He was worried he knew where they were going.
“This is supposed to get us to trust you?” He demanded anyway. “The information that you're a killer?”
“I brought something that will help you. Hiruko knows many things the rest of the SDU doesn't, even Takumi. And yes, I'm aware you've already consumed one of him.”
“So you've been watching us. Why?”
“You have to observe an experiment.”
“...What?”
“Darumi.” The girl mentioned was on the floor with the arm, starting her process. Neither of the others commented or seemed disturbed. “Do you remember what happened at the end of your last timeline?”
“...Shion and Takumi killed me.”
“But part of you escaped.”
“I…I didn't mean to.” She looked down, like she was expecting to be punished. Eito pet her head. He would never be mad at her for living. “I was just…I was so scared. I…don't know. I guess I didn't really want to die.”
Still, Hiruko didn't emote. Eito was starting to hate that. “And then what happened?”
“And then?” She paused like she hadn't considered that there would be more. “S-someone picked me up. They held me gently, and carried me…They…put me in one of those suits and…brought me here. To our house, where we live. I grew there. And eventually, I was Darumi again.”
She looked up as she put the pieces together. “That was you, wasn't it?”
“Yes. And now this timeline is ending, you have to move again.”
“What?” She jumped up. “We have to get Mi-kun and Jorm and-”
“There is still some time before it ends completely, but I want to show you your new timeline. And also how to use the machine to travel ‘horizontally’ through timelines.”
She instructed them to put on leap suits then brought them over to the console. She showed them a code to enter and the interface changed. Now instead of only leaping between timelines, they were given the option to jump forward and backwards within the 100 days.
Hiruko entered specific coordinates and sent them to their new home.
[Since we now have four (4!) members of this fucked up polycule it's time to have some lore drops DATES! Go ahead and vote for who you want to see first!]
Hiruko felt strange. It was as though she had been dreaming for a long, long time. But as she was pushed towards wakefulness, the dream faded from her memory. She tried to hold on to it, to carve any pieces into her memories so she could reassess them while fully conscious, but her mind wouldn't let her. In the end, it all escaped into the darkness.
As soon as she woke, she was aware she wasn't alone. She could feel a presence beside her. Anxiety and worry practically radiated off them, so strongly she could feel it before she saw them.
Hiruko struggled to open her eyes like a kitten seeing the world for the first time. She looked around the room and recognized the ruins she'd spent her life in. Maybe not this room specifically, but a million rooms like this.
She seemed to be in a nurse's office, probably in an abandoned school. A boy with red hair was sitting next to the bed she was laying in, watching her.
“You're awake!” He cried. Then he sat back and rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. “Uh…Darumi and Eito are out, but um, if you need anything....”
She doubted he'd be able to do much; this place seemed pretty bare. And based on her experience, it was probably half destroyed. But at least he knew how to be polite.
She tried to sit up, but the boy reached out and stopped her. “You probably shouldn't move too much. You were pretty badly hurt when the others brought you in here.”
She frowned, doubtful. Aside from some stiffness, she felt fine. If she was injured, she should be in a lot more pain. Was she being kidnapped? Hiruko looked him over. If she really wanted to escape, she was sure she could surely overpower him. Although...maybe she shouldn't underestimate him. He seemed familiar, somehow.
“What's your name?”
“I'm Mi-kun.”
“That's not a name."
"What do you mean?"
"Unless you're six, that's not a name. What's your actual name?”
He seemed unsure, but repeated. “...I'm Mi-kun.”
“Hmph.” She watched him as he shifted nervously. Whatever. “Fine. 'Mi-kun.' Listen to me, I'm not injured. Either you've got good medics, or you're lying. So let me up.”
“Okay…” He stepped back, and she stood up. Just as she expected, everything was fine, although her senses and reflexes felt…off.
“...What's your name?” Mi-kun seemed hesitant to ask.
“Hiruko Shizuhara. Now go get me some water.”
--
When Darumi and Eito returned, they explained the situation to Hiruko.
“You were really hurt.” Darumi explained, scratching her arm nervously. Eito gently stopped her and held her hand. “We tried to help you, but…you ended up dying. So then we…well, we're retsnoms, so we can bring some people back. So we did that.”
“Darumi did that. You have Darumi to thank.” Eito corrected.
Hiruko considered this. A creature that could bring back the dead…it was unbelievable, but yet somehow, she was sure she had heard of something like that before. Could it be true?
The answer rested in if she had actually died. She tried to cast her mind back.
She could remember fighting monsters. She fought them so many times, it blurred together. Claws and teeth coming at her, the beautiful colors as her axe cut through their bodies, feeling exhausted and proud after a battle.
Except, that wasn't all. She remembered…fear. A monster not like the others. This one scared her. They…they were more powerful, and she was trapped. She knew it would kill her. Pain ripped through her. She fell. Teeth tore apart her body as she screamed and cried. More pain. Darkness.
She had died. She was sure of it.
And Darumi had saved her. Darumi had brought her back.
So Hiruko stayed with them. She didn't have anywhere else to go anyway. She'd always been alone. She'd fought the monsters alone, and that hadn't gone well.
Maybe it was time to have a family.

“Eito, I'm not sure about this…”
“What's wrong?”
“Lying to Mistress Hiruko. It feels wrong.”
Eito bit back a sneer at the words ‘Mistress Hiruko.’
“You didn't have this problem with Mi-kun.”
“We were protecting him…” Darumi didn't seem confident.
Eito grabbed her hands and smiled gently. “You’re giving them a gift, not lying. You're allowing them to have happy memories. The exact lives they've always wanted! It's a blessing, and you're the only one who could make such a miracle happen.”
She thought of the memories- the lives- she'd given them. She'd given Mi-kun a relatively normal life, with friends he loved, who loved him. She'd given Hiruko a life of excitement, exploring the ruins and fighting monsters.
And she'd given Eito a life of safety and beauty with her and Mi-kun.
Eito hugged her close. “We're happy. We wouldn't want it any other way.”

Hey, please don't bother other people with blog stuff. The pets are just for here, remember most people are not gonna know about them, and even if people do they might not always want to engage with blog stuff, they might be looking for a break on their personals or something.

The void-skinned stranger looks between the two for a moment, empty hand to featureless face as if perplexed. Then, a low chuckle can be heard, but it sounds as if behind the pair instead of from the stranger in front of them.
"I see…one and the same, yet- Very well~"
Smoke surges over the cauldron's rim in dense waves, flooding the floor and overtaking the three beings. Thick fog obscures the senses, separating the pair to solitude amidst a never-ending mist.
For Darumi, the surrounding mist begins to shift, warping into a kaleidoscope of blurry forms and watercolors. Increased clarity with each blink, she begins to notice others around her; Mi-kun, Blankumi, and- the bottom half of Eito Aotsuki, somehow standing without its upper half, equally as gruesome as she remembers. They are husks, no detectable life within, yet here they stand.
While she is free to look around, she comes to the realization that she is rooted in place, unable to move her legs. Above her head is a floating crystal that idly spins, its color corresponding to her current mood. Then, the crystal moves, and her legs move with it. The others follow, absently ambling besides and behind her. She is in a maze bordered by mist, forced to circle and circle and circle and…
For Eito, he remains lost within the endless fog. There is a frequent stream of distant giggling, yet its source keeps changing, hidden among the mist. Occasionally, a cackle will cut through the noise. Was that… Darumi's laugh? What was initially unidentifiable laughter begins to sound more and more like Darumi.
Her signature cackle.
Her ominous chuckle.
Her mischievous titter.
Her laughter subtly shifts, she's softly crying now.
Sobbing.
Wailing.
Then her screams start to cut through the cacophony.
Screams of frustration.
Fear!
AGONY!
After what felt like hours for the two, they simultaneously experience a sensation of suddenly waking from a dream. Both are still standing where they had been when the stranger approached and the party is still in full swing, as if no time had passed. The stranger is nowhere to be seen, but scattered at their feet with the glitter is an odd assortment of items: Loose sheets of paper, Halloween themed pencils, and pencil toppers/erasers of a purple blob-like monster. One of the papers has the following written in fancy script:
Happy Haunting!~
When they awake, they both seem a bit shaken. Eito stays even closer to Darumi for the rest of the night.
A stranger amongst the party approaches the pair. Their appearance suggests they are human in shape, but where skin should be is pitch-black void that swallows light, its features and depth kept secret. A glittering masquerade mask catches the light instead, accompanied by a white cape and a top hat with a jaunty angle, all of which provide the necessary backdrop and focal points for interaction. They carry a large, cauldron-shaped bucket that continuously emits wispy smoke that obscures what lies within.
Suddenly, the pop of a confetti cannon sounds as it fires its contents into the air: a violent blast of purple, black, and orange confetti, with no discernable shape amongst the colors, blankets the pair. It gestures to the smoking cauldron with a snicker before asking,
“Fright or Delight on this fine evening?”
🍭: "Ooh, give us something scary!! really try to spook us!"

Darumi, did you ever think you would become a mother?
🍭: "No way! It's a good thing Jörm is basically full grown (?) and super independent because id be a TERRIBLE mother. tbh eito'd be a pretty bad dad too. like, neither of us really...have any good examples of the whole "parent" thing, ya know? so its best we stick to being snake parents."
